Having breakfast with my husband and friends at Golden Corral and there is a dead fly in my food. Nasty smelly place. I agree this place doesn’t deserve even a single star.

No sarcasm intended but this place does not even deserve 1 star. I have never been so offended by a customer service experience as I was when I went here on 6/19, on Father’s day. I am a manager in customer service and have been in the customer service industry for 10 years, and I was completely appalled by how I was treated when I went to this restaurant. I was meeting my Grandparents, Mother, Aunt and Niece and Nephew to eat with my Grandpa for Fathers day and the plan was to meet at 1:00pm. My family got out of church early and arrived about 25 minutes early and I wasn’t expecting this so they were in line early. I get there at 1:00pm as initially planned and my family had just gone through the line and my Mom asked if she could purchase my plate, that I was just about to walk in the door. The lady at the counter said this was fine. When I get there, the line was out the door, and was probably a 30 – 45 min. wait. I walk through the crowd with a huge gift bag for my niece who just had a birthday and my card for my Grandpa and immediate a female employee says rudely, «Ma’am, can I help you with something?» I say that I am meeting my family and she rudely tells me that I will still have to wait in line even though my plate was already bought. This is their«policy». I never eat here so this is something I would never have known. I told her that I wouldn’t be waiting because my family would be done eating by the time I got through the line and asked her if I could go through(they literally have it roped off, are we cattle?) just to give my niece her gift, and she says«You’re going to need to call your mom and tell her to come get it from you.» AREYOUKIDDINGME? So my mom comes over and I tell her that I wouldn’t be able to eat with them and had her grab me a manager so that I could get a refund for her. The manager comes over and is completed rude and I ask for a refund and he literally goes into their«policy» again about how it makes other customers mad when they’ve been waiting in line and someone goes right through. I’m sorry, do you not know that this is how EVERY other restaurant ever works? Like this has to be a joke. I tell him, that I don’t need to hear this over again, his employee already told me, and he scoffs, grabs the receipt from me and angrily goes over to get my mom’s money. After I leave the restaurant, he continues to keep giving my Mother dirty looks everytime he walks past their table. Outside, I call them at(512) 383‑8545 and get a guy. Not sure if this was the same manager that was rude in the store. He apologizes for what happened(Sincere? Thats questionable) and then proceeds to tell me the same thing about their policy. I told him, that he needs to better train his people running the registers then, and he told me that they should already know. So you’re doing nothing? Cool. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Customer service is completely non-existent. If Someone from Golden Corral corporate reads this, here’s my tip to you. The correct way to have handled this situation would be to say«Hi. Normally we do have a policy that you have to wait in line and your family/friend isn’t able to buy your plate for reason(X, Y, Z). As a one time courtesy, you can go ahead and go through since it is Father’s Day.» Plus, if you are so concerned with how your customers feel about someone cutting, don’t you think this response would have looked a lot better than seeing my devastated that I couldn’t eat with my Grandpa on Father’s Day?

Tasted like bland hospital food. Mac and cheese was runny. Meatloaf flavorless. They didn’t even have steak. Even the desert was gross. The soft serve was nasty. Cheese cake disappointing. The only good thing was the baked potatoes, but really how could you mess up a baked potato. The tables were way to close together. I will not be returning.

Grew up in golden coral and was pretty disappointed in all that was going on with the food choices… Some things were ok but the things I wanted to be good were just blah…

It’s Monday 5:30 pm, going to the New Golden Corral in South Austin. The place was clean, great service and great variety of a food. I did a small sample of several foods but most surprising was how good their sirloin steak is. I’ve eaten at several high end steakhouses and chain steakhouses. The sirloin steak here is pretty good, mine was a made to order medium rare. Just added a bit of butter after it was handed to me put some salt and pepper, done ! I’m not a big buffet person and it’s been several yrs since I have visited a Golden Corral but I’ll be back too this location.

This place barely gets two stars. The food is hit or miss, more often miss. The service is usually non existent. I am not sure why this place has servers. I do not want to tip here there is no reason. People don’t deserve tips just for dropping off a card and disappearing. I stop here cause it’s not too expensive and quick. Only once was there an attentive bus boy. I don’t even want to consider these people servers as they don’t serve. They are bus boys who hardly ever refill drinks. The cashiers are also very dull and lifeless. Very robotic and yiu will never get a thank you or you’re welcome(if you thank them). The cooks are usually very helpful and happy.

First review for this new location and our first time visit to a Golden Corral. We tried it on Saturday morning arriving about 10:30, so we could sample the full breakfast before they put lunch out at 11. And of course also allow us to sample the lunch offerings! The omelet bar and some of the breakfast offerings are also apparently available all day. All the food I tried was good and fresh. Breakfast: Cooked-to-order omelet bar was great. Thick cut bacon, fresh sliced ham, patty and link sausage, and hash browns were all good. They also have French toast, waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, grits, etc., which all looked good but did not sample. Lunch: with breakfast under my belt, I sampled the lunch menu: fried catfish, hush puppies, collard greens and steamed broccoli. Salad bar and dessert bar also both awesome. Dessert bar has a molten chocolate fountain with strawberries and marshmallows to dip in the flowing chocolate. Yum! They have a wide assortment of cooked and fresh vegetables, and a baked potato bar. The roasted chicken, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and Mac-n-cheese looked good and popular but I did not try. They also have a Mongolian Grill which is Cooked-to-order Asian stir fry. The selections all looked good and fresh. Did not try it on this trip but plan to return. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. All-n-all the place is nice and food is good. Comparable to cafeteria/buffets I have visited at major corporations, Vegas hotels(sans booze), and cruise ships.
