Crawfish boil is really delicious. We dive up from San Antonio just for the boil. Staff is super friendly and service is great.

Being a New Orleanian in Texas is hard. Today at the Crawfish Shack: boiled crawfish is $ 8.99 a pound. Moving on, I ask, «what kind of gumbo do you have?» Answer: «I don’t know. I don’t eat gumbo.» Well, can you ask? She comes back two minutes later: «It’s soup.»

Went here with my friend after getting our mani and pedi! It was in the southpark meadows shopping center so it was a convenient place for us. The food is okay, the service is slow but the overall value for the price is somewhat less than other restaurants around the area. I am so glad we went during lunch time because i don’t want to overpay for just an okay fried seafood plate!

I’m giving this 4 stars because I finally found a place down south that does raw oysters at a crazy reasonable price that are yum yum to my tum tum. We tried the fried catfish, too, and it was very good. I wasn’t impressed with the cole slaw(I’m definitely a cole slaw snob) because it seemed old and because of that, bitter, but the rest of the dinner was very good. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very prompt and helpful. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Nice staff. Tasty food and a fun, enjoyable atmosphere. I will be back here for sure. Edit: Came back during the week and both my girlfriend and I got food poisoning of some sorts. Absolutely hell for the next couple days. Only go on the weekend people.

I love this place. I always get the pound of crab and my boyfriend gets the blackened shrimp. He usually has to spend double and get 2 plates of blackened shrimp because Unfortunately the portions are not very filling. You spend less on crab you get more sides, spend more on crab get no sides so that doesn’t make sense but the flavor of the dishes are unlike any that I’ve ever had. So good!

They have fresh Gulf Coast oysters and as well crawfish. My wife and I had the crawfish étouffée which is a maze. The happy hour is very reasonable we love this place we will be back.

Service was very slow as they were under staffed tonight. We ordered the king crab legs and craw fish and extra corn and potatoes. The k crab legs and crawfish came out cold and were way over seasoned with salt. The taste was not very good as it tasted of just butter and way too much salt. I was disappointed as I’ve never had a bad experience w King crab legs till now… Also they never brought out any of our corn or potatoes and still charged us for the extra! We both unfortunately left with upset stomaches. Should have gone to Joes Crab shack!

We ordered the king crab, corn, potaoes, sausage, and 2 appetizers egg rolls and bacon wrap shrimp. Pros.- king crabs, bacon wrap shrimp and red potatoes we’re good. Cons.- food was over seasoned and salty plus the corn was overcooked and mushy. Potatoes corn sausage mushrooms onions have to pay extra for each individual item.

To me it’s an odd location for this type of place and it’s not really a shack as much as a new strip mall center. The interior is adorned with people’s writing on any surface that they can. The daily market price for all items are located on chalk boards on either sides of the bar. I came for the boil and they offer crawfish in the off season, frozen or fresh and a variety of other selections. We ordered 2 pounds of crawfish, 1 pound of blue crabs(two whole crabs) and the cajun fries. They put out a white paper on the table for the boils which makes you see just how messy of an eater you are(my spot was doused in juices and butter) but, hey if you aren’t wearing it then the crawfish must not have been that good. To accompany our food we took advantage of the $ 5.00 bloody marys on Saturday. The bloody marys were good, not as terrible as other places but, not the best that I have had either. For $ 5.00 though they are worth it if you don’t like your bloody boozy. The blue crabs were difficult to manuever, not a lot of meat and don’t have the sweet crab flavor. I would recommend just getting the snow crab legs if you have a hankering for crab. The crawfish is where it’s at! The seasoning was the best that I have ever had on a boil anywhere. It was garlicy, buttery and had just the right amount of spice(I ordered spicy). Lift up the crawfish in the bowl because all the goodness is underneath. We ordered a side of drawn butter but, you don’t need it. We ordered the fresh crawfish and they were smaller than in season but, still delicious. When you order 2 pounds of crawfish you receive the fixins of a half of a corn cob, one boiled potato, small pieces of sausage, onion and mushrooms. It’s worth it but, if you are like me you should order some extra pieces of each, especially if you are sharing because there isn’t that much to go around. Everyone is raving about the cajun fries but, to me they were just ok. They were regular fries with some seasoning thrown on top served with ketchup! Not really any wow factor. Our service was also 5 stars! The price per pound was a bit high but, it is off season and I would be curious to see their pricing during the season because there are some cheaper places. I guess you get what you pay for though and here you get the seasoning of a lifetime that will make you come back for more.

I came here on a Saturday night after craving Cajun style seafood. It had been months since I last had some in New Orleans. We decided to start off with half a dozen raw oysters. They were incredibly small for the price and were not as fresh as one would expect. We ended up ordering the crawfish étouffée and jambalaya with corn and a turkey neck on the side. The food didn’t look bad, but the presentation was pretty much the only positive aspect of the meal. First off, everything was overly salty. The turkey neck was nothing like what we expected; they seem to top all the dishes here with some kind of Cajun salt rather than cook it in Cajun seasoning in the first place, so that the flavor would already be infused in the food. This was very noticeable in even the corn, which was as dry as it gets. The jambalaya tasted decent, but was also dry and didn’t really conjure up flavors remiscent of Cajun food. The étouffée was not too bad either, but definitely nothing special and incredibly salty. Lastly, the service was very lackluster for a restaurant that was not even half-filled at prime dinner time on a Saturday night. We never saw our waitress again after the food was served. There were no refills given, and we eventually brought our check up to the register rather than waiting for her to take forever to come back again. It was conclusively a rather disappointing experience. One tip: check-in for 5% off on your order.

We come here for crawfish when it’s in season and have never been disappointed. I do notice they tend to serve smaller and smaller ones as the season ends. But their buttery garlicky sauce is really good. I always get the 1x spicy with extra mushrooms and sausage. I sometimes order crab legs and those can be served in the same sauce if you like. Cajun fries and calamari are good and pretty cheap too. Dinner during the week Mon-Thurs is usually not crowded, sometimes a bit empty. The only time we had to wait about 45 mins was on a Friday during Lent season, but that’s not surprising. I like the location too, it’s in South Park Meadows, so you can get Amy’s Ice Cream, Boba tea, or froyo for dessert afterwards. Or do some shopping at Target.

The place is family friendly, which is great for us, and it was easy to get a seat for dinner at 6 on a saturday. But the oysters were bland and the large blue crabs weren’t very meaty. The spicy, buttery sauce that the crabs, shrimp and corn came in was good though. Service was good. In all, just ok, we were in the mood for good seafood close to our house, but this wasn’t great.

I really, really liked my snow crab legs! They give you an entire half crab with 5 – 6 legs so it’s substantial, and it’s served with a melted butter, seasoned sauce. Dip the crab meat in this sauce and it’s really good. Served with an entire potato and corn(they forgot it in my dish so had to ask for it), it was surprisingly tasty. My husband’s fried shrimp was pretty good. I think my dish was the best dish, I’m not sure what others thought about their dishes though.

It’s nice having a decent crawfish shack on the Southside of town. All of their food is slightly over priced and the service is just ok, but they have some decent crawfish. You can choose how spicy you want the crawfish and they are always a decent size, which is better than most crawfish places in Austin. I like that they don’t count the weight of the corn and potatoes, which means more crawfish! Their hushpuppies are pretty good, but they only give you 4 – 5, which just isn’t a enough. They are small… They serve their crawfish in a «special butter sauce» which is a bit weird, so I’d recommend asking for no butter if you want your crawfish traditional.
