First of all — I don’t like tennis shoes. Let me just state that for the record. But right now, all of my friends are into this whole running/walking/working out/exercising thing. And it seems that flip flops(my main choice of footwear [aside from bring bare foot]) just won’t work. Thus, I 100% had to go buy a pair of tennis shoes. I’m a pretty picky person. First of all, I wear a size 5 in shoes, sometimes 5 ½, and in very odd situations 6 if the brand is weird. So finding itty bitty baby shoes to fit my midget feet(without Dora the Explorer on them) is a task in and of itself. Read: nearly impossible. I also don’t like laces. They are a pain to tie, and I like things being symmetrical, so if they aren’t tied the same way with the same amount of tension I feel lop-sided. Also, when I run, the laces hit my ankles and tickle. I don’t like this. I like only black shoes — not white, not brown, not tan, not blue. Only black. At least, for tennis shoes. See — I’m very picky. They have to feel just so. And everything has to be right, otherwise… well… forget it. I’d rather chop off my own feet than wear uncomfortable shoes. No, seriously. So, I go into this store in the mall. I already own a few shoes from here, but all just silly flip flops and other such nonsense. I sat down and told the sales lady what I was looking for. I told her my needs, my preferences and my approx shoe size. I also told her that I hate tennis shoes. She brought me four pairs of shoes and one of the I actually liked. It fit… it was everything I was looking for. It was basically perfect. I’ve never been in a better shoe store. Not only did she figure out what I needed, but she found it, and it was perfect. And when I picked out something that was NOT a good gym shoe, she told me that it wasn’t — and didn’t try to sell me both! Surprise surprise. It was a little pricey for tennis shoes, but I suppose if you want t good pair that will actually last, and be comfortable… you need to fork over those dollars. I cannot think of a better shoe shopping experience. I’ve never been in a better shoe store. I’ve never had friendlier, or more knowledgeable shoe sales people. I am so impressed. And in… however long it takes for me to need new shoes… I will 100% come back here. I can’t believe how easy and painless that was. You know, for how much I hate tennis shoes. And now own a pair.
