I was very disappointed with the 3 meat plate. None of the meat tasted smoked. It tasted as if it had been cooked in the oven. No flavor. The potato casserole was nothing but mashed potatoes with no seasoning. It has been years since I ate at Dickeys and it used to be good, but I will not go back.

Drove up to the drive through and had to repeat my order 6 times… finally just drove up to the window and repeated it again. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast and a large sweet tea. The cost was $ 9.50. The tea tasted so old but that’s ok because I exchanged it for a Coke, but then the server asked me again«Texas toast?» I said yes. She grabbed my sack from my hand and gave it back to the kitchen and said«Texas toast». A few seconds and she gives me the sack back. Never thinking to look because I’m thinking surely they got it right after all of this… but NO… when I got back to work and opened it the pulled pork was on plain bread. So if English is your only language don’t go here because they do not understand what you are saying. Plus it was cold!

Don’t let the rating fool you. As a Texan, when you crave BBQ you need it now. And Dickey’s is there with a fine product and a diverse selection of meats. But, here’s the rub(pun intended). They’re competing in a region of small joints and small chains known nationally that you make a pilgrimage to visit. And the thing is, when I make the journey I’m probably going for a specific item. Brisket or ribs? I’m probably heading to Rudy’s or Smokey’s. Potato salad? I’m looking for Angelo’s or Smokey’s. But you can’t always do that. So, when I need my TXBBQ fix I don’t hesitate to go to Dickey’s. Everything they make is VERY solid. I even find myself craving their ham! Don’t shy away but don’t be afraid to hit the small joints you stumble upon along the way.

We eat here from time to time. They have okay BBQ and excellent sides. Fried okra, waffle fries, and onion tanglers are made to order. Their service is really nice. And, of course, the free ice cream is always a bonus.

This place is amazing! Too bad we are only in town for a few days. I could not believe how much food we got for $ 12! The food was amazing! The only problem was that I couldn’t finish it. Even though we were stuffed, we continued to eat random forkfuls because it was just that amazing. The staff is very friendly & the place was very clean. Great for groups & they cater. Definitely go!

We’re from California so we cannot get this type of food here anyhow! We visited this place after the Chargers vs. Cowboys game about 5 years ago. I loved the brisket, beans, and iced tea. I’ve had BBQ in other parts of Texas but it’s different in South Texas than up there. I still have my yellow Dickeys cup — I show it off at work!!!

I only picked one star because 0 stars was not an option. This is nowhere near true texas BBQ. I got the 2 meat 2 side plate. I chose ribs and sausage for meat and bbq beans and baked potato casserole for the sides. PLEASE for Pete’s sake… whoever Pete is… if you’re wanting to try true Texas BBQ, please don’t try it here. The ribs were super dry, sausage not too bad, bbq beans were a mix between baked beans and ranch style(bleh), and the potato casserole tasted like glorified instant potatoes. And the worst part was the BBQ sauce, which tasted no different than the 88 cent Kraft you get from the local grocery. If you’re thinking about it… Just. Don’t.

Stay Away. This is NOT real southern BBQ that you can expect in Texas. The service was absolutely terrible. The staff was just chatting and barely acknowledged us. The food did not appear to be that fresh and the meat came out from being wrapped and cut right onto our plate. We were visiting from out of town and thought we were going to visit a real BBQ place, but this was like fast food BBQ.(Its not Lucille’s BBQ if you live back west). I know this place may be convenient if you are staying at a hotel close by, but just eat at the hotel or go to Sonic next door. *POORSERVICE *SUBPARFOOD *BUFFETSTYLE — FASTFOOD *TINYTV

Traveling and in town for a game we decided to try this out because its by the hotel we are staying at. Really good meat, kinda spicy ‘mild’ bbq sauce. Same with the sweet bbq sauce, kinda had a kick and wasn’t exactly sweet. But! my husband got the brisket and i got the chicken, both extremely tender and amazing. So why the 3 stars? The sides… uhhhhh… husband had mac n cheese and said it was coldish and would have been palatable if it was hot. I got the original potato salad and it just tasted like cold mashed mustard potatoes. I wish it had more texture, pickles, celery, peppers, heck anything but potatoes would have been nice. We came at 2 so no rush but the staff was really nice and friendly especially because the ordering process was confusing at best. But they walked us through it without any hint of rudeness because we obviously had never been there. We’ve been made fun of by locals for coming here because it’s commercialized and most definitely just a chain. But not a bad bbq chain if there ever was one

The manager(Dallas) was five star helpful. He was working hard to train his staff to keep up. Brisket was very good, generous portions, we’re stuffed!

The best Dickey’s location in this area! Our office eats there every couple of weeks. The service is always friendly and the food never disappoints. There are plenty of sides and they always have 3 bbq sauces to choose from(spicy!). And we just can’t leave without a free serving of ice cream. :)

Excellent lunch menu… was wanting to spend a little more time in there as I was passing some time while waiting for a friend to arrive at the airport… but the lunch crowd had the food on my table before I could even say wait a second. Had the pulled pork sandwich… and was very impressed with the portion sizes… sides… and options of beverages. I can definitely tell the difference of Texas BBQ and other styles as well… its got a little zing in it… which made the experience of stopping by that much better.

Excellent food, daily specials are a good deal, eaten at a bunch of the chain’s locations. I like the turkey, hubby really likes everything. Quality BBQ but not a fancy setting. You’re going for the food and it’s worth it!

Fix your signs, paint your building, clean your bathroom, get your beer license re-instated, place is falling apart. Service staff nice and the brisket sandwich was generous. I always add my own sauce. I don’t like over sauce. Had salad as a side, good greens and cucumber salad was crisp.

As far as chain restaurants go… I have to admit it’s pretty good. I do recommended the pulled pork and beef brisket. It is the better of the choices. The downfalls for them though is that the meet has little smoke or BBQ taste to it. You will have to smother it in BBQ sauce to add more flavor and make up for the dryness. The sides are ok as well… they loaded mashed potatoes are good but the price for them almost puts me off. The price you pay for a self service food is a little much but since they’re aren’t many BBQ places nearby it has to do.

The execs and I go to Dickey’s about once a week. We always go around 12:30, and minus one time, the line is never very long. I usually get a 1 or 2 meat plate. The spicy cheddar sausage is fantastic, but one of the worst healthwise. The pulled pork is some of the best I’ve had. The turkey is good, but isn’t mind blowing or anything. The hot links are decent. The ribs are great, best I’ve had at a chain restaurant. For sides, can’t go wrong with the jalapeño baked beans. The mac and cheese is pretty standard. They have a broccoli salad that is really good. You can make a pretty healthy meal here, which is definitely a plus. Or you could go the ‘Merica way and have an epic cheat day. Grab a free ice cream after your meal and call it a day! Will definitely continue to come back!

I really did the sauce here. Large portions and hey free ice cream. Price was not a wallet buster either. Good place to bring the kids after being in Six Flags.

Eating here will remind you of the high school cafeteria. Seeing how this was my first time ever eating bbq in Texas I thought it would be prudent to write a review of my first experience. Right off the bat I must say that I had heard of Dickey’s BBQ from a lot of people. So finally I got a chance to eat here and my first impression was disappointment. –1 the cafeteria style serving line. Super lame. –1 the fast food style chairs and tables. –1 the super loud country music –1 the decoration –1 its expensive. –1 Uninspired menu. –1 No healthy options I don’t think I will ever return.

Dickey’s BBQ is not for me. I gave this place another try. And I still do not like them. The BBQ brisket tasted like roast beef. Not BBQ. The side items did not have a very good taste. The potatoes are dry. The over all experience was not good. The food tasted as if it had been sitting around all day. The rolls were not fresh. Texas has a lot of BBQ places and everybody has there favorites and the ones they don’t like. And I have mine. This one goes on the not liked side of the list.

Dickey’s is the best Chain type BBQ but not on par with Feedstore in Southlake. They do give you a lot of fried okra which is worth going for just for that. If you want BBQ that is consistent go — kind of like the McD’s of BBQ
