I see Debbie for a cut and color every couple months and she’s great. She’s super friendly and makes you feel at ease. The first time I went I was very nervous because I hadn’t seen a new stylist in a very long time(my old stylist moved). I didn’t really like any of the colors in the book so I asked her to mix something for me and she gave me the perfect color. It was exactly what I wanted. My cut is fairly simple(long layers and side bangs) but you’d be surprised how many people mess it up. I’ve never had a problem when Debbie cuts my hair. I’d definitely recommend this salon to anyone looking for something easy and(relatively) cheap.

tl/dr: Stylists sometimes don’t show up for appointments, give bad haircuts, and no one seems to care about service. Don’t come here unless you have a specific reference from a friend of a specific stylist and NEVER set up an appointment with Dennis or Vanessa. Both times I came here I called ahead and set up an appointment with a «master stylist» because I care about making sure I have a good haircut. Sadly, these master stylist’s do not care. My first experience was with Dennis. Dennis hacked at my hair with what looked like a straight razor blade. I have soft dense hair that’s quite easy to cut with scissors or clippers. Getting massacred like a dog was a new experience. The cut was close to what I asked for, but not close enough. And when it grew out it was lumpy all over because the cut was so uneven. But even worse, when we were leaving, Dennis actually slapped the butt of a female employee, who laughed. Perhaps this is standard operating procedure at this salon, but it’s certainly not behavior that is acceptable in front of the customers. Because the price of a men’s haircut here is very low compared to the Ann Arbor haircut market in general, I decided I would give them a second chance and set up an appointment last Wednesday with Vanessa for 10am. I arrived to the store when they opened at 10am for my appointment and walked up to the salon. I was told by the lady at the salon desk that Vanessa had called to say she was running about 10 minutes late. Given that I had set up the appointment a week in advance, this is really unacceptable. But then the unthinkable happened. As of 10:21am Vanessa had to come in. And the front desk clerk had decided to vanish into the back of the office for at least 10 minutes. Given that my stylist was over 20 minutes late for a booked appointment and the front desk clerk had apparently decided that it wasn’t worth waiting on the customer in the waiting room, I did something I’ve never done before. I just left. I’m pretty flexible with people in the service industry, having worked retail for over 5 years. But do not come in late for a scheduled appointment with a client. And worse don’t say you will be ten minutes late if you’re planning to be almost a half hour late. I know this salon is cheap compared to some other options, but I would never return.

I went in for a trim and the lady ended up cutting off about 5 inches of my hair off before I even realized it. I’m only in town for work but I would never go back…
