Charming older couple, but food is only ok. It is uninspired basic diner food and the flavors are not impressive. They open early in the morning, so it is a good option if other places aren’t open yet.

Excellent breakfast food, and very welcoming owners, felt at home. If you’re looking for no frills diner food this is it.

Home cooked: it’s a weird descriptor for a restaurant’s food because most of us don’t have a restaurant style kitchen at home. No deep fryer, no griddle, no giant oven or fancy stove. That said, Steve’s is exactly what you think of as «home cooked food.» It’s all like your parents made you when you were a kid, which fits perfectly: Steve’s is run by a wonderfully kind and talented elderly Greek couple. He cooks, she waits tables. The prices are more than affordable, especially for Boston: I paid $ 7 for a BLT with fries, and that was with a $ 2 surcharge for fries over chips. And the food is perfect. It’s by fancy, it’s not flashy, and to be honest, it’s not even that good. But it’s perfect in the same way that your parents’ cooking is perfect, and that’s a gem in a city overloaded with fusion bistros and«bar and grille» places. Tip: get the breakfast.

A small tucked in place that you could literally walk by without noticing; but with all around amazing food, Steve’s Kitchen is a must try. French toast blew my mind and the corned beef hash omlette was absolutely delicious. Super filling yet super affordable with great service.

Great, old school diner with a Greek flair. We had a great brunch there. Service was slow but the only waitress was a charming 70+ woman!

First I called Steve’s Kitchen to make sure they were still in business after finding their # online. An older gentleman answered and said, «Honey, I’ve been here for 30 years. Yes, I’m open.» I knew then this was the breakfast spot for us. The food is tasty and delivered pipping hot. It’s not greasy and the portions are very large. I had an egg-white omelet with mushrooms and green peppers with a side of bacon and sausage. My firmed has some runny eggs that were cooked exactly the way he asked. This prices are fantastic! I’d highly recommend this breakfast restaurant for you, your family and out-of-town guests.

My favorite breakfast place ever, in spite of the bad coffee. This place hasn’t changed a bit in the last 25 years except for the prices, and you can’t smoke in there anymore(thank God). Best giant French Toast ever, nice crispy home fries with your eggs, and you can get perfectly broiled gyros as a side meat if you want(and I do). The family are great and they have long memories for regulars.

Great dive spot for breakfast. Good food, easy on the wallet. The only downside is the parking, however you are on Harvard Ave, so I cannot complain about that.

YES! No frills good breakfast fast easy and cheap. Also not as super greasy as some other hole in the wall diners I’ve been to. They had a lot more options than I was expecting with multiple different types of pancakes and omelettes. And they seem to have a good selection of lunch/dinner options also… including some Greek dishes. Just don’t expect this place to be open late at night(though it would be awesome and they would def make money).

So much love for this place. My friends kept talking about it so I was excited to go. I’ve been several times and have taken new people there as well. It’s good, affordable breakfast food. The price is right to my feel guilty about going out for breakfast with a group after a night out. When my sister visits we spend a lot of «fun» money we can’t afford. But we always enjoy Steve’s kitchen. I am happy to order from them. The service is awesome. And I can’t pass up the iced coffee there.

Gotta love that this is a family owned business. It does feel very warm and welcoming on the inside. I like the vibes of the homemade special signs on the walls. However, the breakfast I got was just not that great. My omelette was dry, the toast tasted stale, and the home fries were definitely dry as well. Even with how cheap the place is, I still expected a little more out of my breakfast. There’s so many other breakfast places around not sure I’ll be back unless my friends drag me.

Went here for breakfast during the week. You wouldn’t think by looking at the place when you first walk in that the food would be so good! This place probably hasn’t changed in 30 years but that’s perfectly fine cuz I’ll still be back for the amazing service, great quality and decent portioned food cheaper than anywhere else! My friend got the mammoth French toast they have and was practically drooling eating it it was so good. I got steak and eggs that were perfect as well. You get a ton of bang for your buck here. And the little lady that was our waitress was such a sweetheart! GO. NOW.

I kind of love this place — inexpensive, fantastic diner food in one of the dingiest settings around. If you’re looking for something remotely classy, don’t go here(there’s been at least one disheveled old man talking to himself every time I’ve gone), but if you’re looking for a hearty breakfast, solid coffee, and some of the friendliest service in Boston(I’ve had the same waitress every time, and she’s super), then come here. *Cash only! Not that you’ll need much of it…

Seventeen year old me was clearly drunk when she reviewed this place because it is expensive and shitty — not cheap and glorious. Second worst breakfast I’ve ever had at a fucking diner folks, and I love diner breakfasts. Seriously bad.

Went here for breakfast for the first time this weekend. The place is small but at around 9am we were able to get a table no problem and the place was still relatively empty. I would imagine it would get busier at a later hour. I had a breakfast sandwich which also came with home fries. For the low price(under 5 dollars) I was very surprised as to how large the portions were and how delicious the breakfast tasted. The order was also ready in legitimately 4 minutes or less. I would definitely recommend this place for a good, quick and inexpensive breakfast!

We were looking for a low-key, no frills, late breakfast after a night out on the town, and Steve’s Kitchen provided this almost perfectly for us. There were only a few other customer in the joint, so we had our pick of seating. We chose a table by the windows, which was exactly what I’d hoped for. The server was with us in a flash, and before we knew it we had coffee and water in front of us. The coffee was served in glass mugs, and the cream was in a little clear glass as well. Neat! I decided to go big and ordered the 3 egg western omelet cheese, and a banana pancake on the side. My friend ordered a 2 egg breakfast with sausage. The cheese counted as a side option for my omelet, which I found a little odd, but whatever. First came the toast. It was three slices of regular old sliced bread served with some butter on the side. Nothing special, but it didn’t really need to be. I liked that it came before the rest of the meal. My pancake was amazing. Big chunks of warm banana were seating in a see of chewy, delicious pancake. It was so flavorful I didn’t even need syrup, but I used it anyway :) My omelet was grood. Somewhere in between good and great. It was dense and broke apart nicely into bites. Closer to a scramble in burrito form than the ingredients-wrapped-in-egg-stle omelet you get somewhere. This was fine with me! The cheese came in the form of a slice of cheddar cheese melted on top of the omelet. I imagine having the cheese mixed in with the other ingredients might have been better, but it wasn’t a deal-breaker for the omelet. The hash browns were average. If you remember, my friend had ordered sausage, but they gave him bacon instead. Luckily he loved the bacon, so not too much harm done there, ultimately. I would absolutely go to Steve’s again if I’m in the area, and if I lived near it I would probably be a regular. Just a great old diner doing its thang and doing it well.

Great diner experience. Seriously old-school. The owners are Greek(great gyros) and have been running the place forever. I always go for breakfast, even at lunchtime. The hash and eggs are great, and so are the omelets. Companions love the above-mentioned gyros as well as pancakes. Do be aware this is a cash-only place. Again, old-school. I think even the cash register is mechanical!

We had to give our Mini a two year checkup and when the serviceman told us it would be about three hours, I jumped onto Unilocal to see where I could find some breakfast within a half mile of the Herb Chambers dealership. Oh Unilocal, you never let me down. Steve’s was exactly what I wanted. The place was pretty full on a Saturday at 12:00pm but luckily there were still a few open tables. The menu was awesome — I mean where else can you find a side of gyro for breakfast? Husband ordered the blueberry pancakes with side sausage and I went with the bacon egg and cheese on a bagel(note: they only have plain bagels). The blueberry pancakes were enormous! Enormous, delicious, and fresh. My BEC was good, not punch you in the face good, but it was just a classic BEC. It wasn’t greasy at all either which made my belly happy. The sausage wasn’t anything more than regular sausage links and though the home fries looked like they would be delicious, they just tasted like potatoes. But my meal was only like $ 3.95 so I seriously can’t complain. Like everyone else has said: Steve’s is no-frills, extremely cheap, cash-only and very good. I’m a fan.
