I came to Boston for a couple of days and decided to try this place out before hitting the airport back home. Glad I tried it. I ate the chicken kabob plate and it was great. The food was satisfying for a decent size lunch. The chicken was seasoned perfect and it came with rice, hummus and a small side salad. They have a big menu which made choosing what to eat hard, just because everything seemed so good. There was a small bit of confusion when we sat down. Although they gave us menus we had to go to the register and place the order before they brought you your meal. Don’t see the purpose, why not just have servers. Maybe it was just the day I went because it seemed a little empty. I wasn’t a local so I can’t say for sure. Still the food was great.

Really great, tasty menu. We got brunch– cheesy french toast is where its at. Owner guy was sooooooo accommodating and helpful. Me, the fiancée and the inlaws couldn’t figure out(duh) that we were sposed to grab a table first, then order at the counter, but he helped us get a table and even gave us an order of DELICIOUS!!! baklava on the house at the end of our meal. Just super super all around even tho it was packed and busy(on a sunday morning i think it was).

This place was amazing enough to get my first 5 star review; I honestly can’t think of anything wrong with my meal today. My friends and I went here for brunch on a Monday morning. There were 6 of us and we were worried there wouldn’t be enough room but there was a little room/section in the back with a big table, felt private and cozy. This café would be a great place to get some work done, but can get crowded sometimes. They leave you alone for the most part at this café, so you have to go to the front to order. The menu is extensive, which might make it hard to decide what to order. We got the Sweet Royal, 2 Traditional French Toast, 2 Belgium Style Waffles, and a Mushroom Omelette. The home fries were flavorful, the fruit was all fresh. I have absolutely no complaints; the food was amazing! I only wish I lived closer so I could come here more often.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency and decided to skip the $ 18 poorly rated breakfast at the hotel and instead give this place a try. We lucked out! There are two entrances into the café. Walk in and grab a menu and then head to the counter to place your order. I started with an apple danish and wifey started with the grills blueberry muffin(both were yum!). I ordered«the traveler» and she ordered the corned beef and hash. The potatoes were delicious! We will be back on the visit Boston in the future…

Went here on Valentine’s Day for Sunday brunch. This is the perfect place if you want a relaxed atmosphere and just some really good home-cooked food. It’s a small homey restaurant and the staff is incredibly nice. It feels like you just walked into your family’s kitchen on a Sunday morning for some eggs and pancakes. The décor consists of unmatched chairs and tables, couches in the corner, curtains on the windows, and paintings on the wall… much like your huge family gathering where everyone just pulls up any seat they can find to enjoy the company around them. The food is equally as comforting. I had a Breakfast combination platter(I believe it was called the Royale). This platter had the perfect portions of eggs, home fries, sausage, bacon and a side of a pancake — and, it was delicious. The owner came by to take our plates away and asked us if we liked the food. We both answered with a resounding«Yes!» Later, he came by with two cookies on the house and wished us a Happy Valentine’s Day. I’ll definitely return.

Great little space with artwork covering the walls. Perfect for ordering a coffee and doing some work during slow hours. Best iced coffee! Their food is on the $$$ more expensive side, BUT it’s fresh, portions huge, and tastes amazing. They’re all very polite and have great smiles. The owner is a sweetheart. Brought my roommate here for the first time and he gave her a free cookie. The only time I experienced anything bad in this place was egg shells in my smoothie. But didn’t ruin my overall experience because it’s usually fantastic if you’re willing spend the extra dime or dollar or five.

I was a bit disappointed with brunch after seeing all of the amazing reviews. Will definitely try again in future though. Food was hard to order at the counter as the people taking the orders kept writing items that were different from what we were saying. My boyfriend ordered the mushroom omelette with cheddar. He was given the mushroom omelette with feta and american cheese. They did make him a new one with cheddar though the mushrooms were clearly from a can and not fresh like they were in the pictures on the menu. Also the sausage and bacon we were given were inedible which was sad. Otherwise the food and experience were fine. Eggs and potatoes were just average. Coffee and orange juice were both good. I did like the space, the people working were kind, and I believe this could be a great place to get work done for a few hours. I also saw people with french toast that looked amazing so in the future I think we’ll try the sweet breakfast options. Tip: they make the coffee very sweet so order it with only a little sugar. That was enough sweetness for me and borderline too much for my boyfriend.

Love this place. Lately have been eating breakfast/brunch here every time I visit Boston, and have not yet been disappointed. I’ve stuck to the egg dishes(partially because I love their home fries) but always gaze at the beautiful French toast and pancakes going past me. Next time… I digress. Aside from the food, the décor is cute and the service is amazing. I believe the owner is usually behind the counter, ringing up orders and generally being a friendly person. Really recommend this neighborhood brunch place to anyone, and am always happy to see how busy it is!

Wonderfully unique in décor and menu. Very casual Mid-Eastern/French feel. I return again and again for the Lemon Crepes. Nothing like it anywhere else! They are only on the Breakfast menu though so if you come later in the day try the chicken schwarma wrap! It was just delicious!!! You order and pay at the counter and the meal is brought to you. I think it is the best place in Allston!

Came in for a chai latte based on the amazing Unilocal reviews. This is the first time where Unilocal ratings has let me down. Paid $ 4 for a chai latte that tasted like burnt water. I regret tipping them a dollar, such a waste of time and money. No idea how this place has such good ratings, disgusting coffee and espresso drinks

Best place to go for an exotic brunch. Beautiful ambience and fun loving hosts. Get there early to secure a table. They always are pretty nice to help you acquire one. The food takes a little longer than other eats, but the wait is totally worth it. Love it!

I’d say 3.5 stars. Great vibe and good place to do work, great staff, but the coffee just isn’t that good. The cappuccino was mediocre and also served in a tall Styrofoam cup, which is just not a good idea for cappuccino. The croissant was good, though. Not very familiar with options in this neighborhood yet, but as far as space this is a really good option to sit and work.

Brunch is better than every other meal. Who is with me. I live right around the corner from In House Café and never thought to try it out because frankly, it’s never caught my attention. When my boyfriend suggested we go here, he had to explain it as «the place between McDonalds and Wonderbar» and I responded with, «There’s a brunch place there?» Regardless, I came here with ZERO expectations and was blown away. The cheesy french toast is phenomenal! cheesy + french toast = what the, but trust me. It’s amazingly fluffy and light. The setup is a bit confusing for newbies, but my words of advice: grab a table first, then go up to order because space is limited and this place gets packed, especially on the weekends.

I’ve ordered egg whites, bagel with cream cheese and banana Nutella crepes. I’ve been here a couple times and the food has been consistently good. At par with a lot of other reviewers, I give this place 5 stars. This place is neat. It’s spacious. The people working here are courteous and nice. Food is prepared relatively quickly. And the quality of the food served here is great.

I’m confident giving this place 5 stars after several group brunches and sampling many of their offerings. It’s all made with obvious care, huge portions,(always flanked with fresh fruit!), and absolutely delicious! They make fantastic cappuccino, the dulce de Ieche w/ricotta crêpe is to die for, eggs are always cooked perfect(hollandaise, also).

This is our second visit and the second was even better than the first. For those who are disappointed by the lack of pork bacon, try the BEEF bacon. It’s delicious and it will leave you wanting to know where you can get your own. This time I tried the french toast(it was topped with cinnamon and bananas and raisins and a nice sauce) and my daughter had the chocolate chip pancakes. Her eggs were cooked perfectly and the beef bacon was perfectly crisp and flavorful. Ok it’s not your average bacon. but hey, it was a very, very, close second. The staff were pleasant and we will certainly be back again.

This place has a very interesting vibe. The furnishings and decoration are very eclectic, and there is a subtle middle eastern flair. The menu is a novel — if you have trouble with decisiveness this menu will be quite intimidating! There is a huge selection of all the normal brunch fare — pancakes, waffles, crepes, eggs, etc. My group ordered quite a few different items — and everyone thought their meal was very tasty. The pancake/French toast portions were very very generous, as they each came w eggs and bacon as well. The crêpe portions were definitely smaller. I ordered the pesto crêpe — the flavors were delicious. I will say the plating of their dishes is a little uninspired, but I did appreciate the portion of fruit they included w each dish. I definitely recommend this place and I would love to come back!

I’m literally in shock at how I could have never come here before. I feel like I’ve eaten at every restaurant in the Allston area. I remember coming by this place for tea one time awhile ago, but I never tried the food. They have free wifi! Password is goodfood. So definitely a good place to do some work. Décor: so adorable. Kind of looks interesting since everything is super mismatched, but that’s what’s awesome about this place. Almost seems like you’re sitting at a different dining table than everyone — so you have your own space. Staff: super friendly. You order at the counter and then find a seat. They’ll bring your food over to you when it’s ready. Food: YUM! I really enjoyed it. It’s a decent amount of food that I thought I was not going to finish. I got the BU and BC sampler(I’m a sucker for corn bread muffins especially when they’re toasted). It comes with corn bread muffin, 2 eggs, ham, and home fries for $ 8.99. My friends ordered the western omelette, mushroom omelette and the shawarma. All pretty good! Definitely would recommend eating here! Seemed like they had other good deals. The French toast looked bomb!

On first impression, from the outside, in house café fits in with the rest of Allston. The sign is in pictures, which makes me think it’s another Asian restaurant, or even some hipster store. Walking by, even looking at the pictures of the menu in the window, makes me question the food. It just looks weird, and it didn’t catch my attention to ever want to go there. However, one day, Gster and I decided to try it out. When walking in, you feel like you are in Alice and Wonderland. I say that because it’s a room of mismatched furniture, chairs, tables, lamps, carpet, Décor. It’s whimsical and comfortable. It’s unique and I’ve never been to a restaurant like it. It’s separated into small rooms, with books to read, students meeting in groups, or couples like us having breakfast. The ambience was inviting and comfortable. I felt like I was in my living room. I loved the mix match of everything. The food options were interesting, and I went with the pancakes, bacon and some chocolate milk. The bagels and pastries looked very appetizing. The presentation of the food is artistic, with small bits of colorful fruit decorating the plate, but not really enough to eat. Again, it played into the whimsical feel of the whole place. Now those whimsical touches added to the benefit of in-house, while the quirky service left me feeling confused, annoyed and weirded out. The service was odd, they made us move seats midway, and it was just confusing. I’m not sure why but it just wasn/t right.

At In House Café, you order at the counter, seat yourself, and have your food brought out to you. I like this method because it allows you to choose where you sit and order when you’re ready, thus increasing the efficiency and speed of service. I’m usually not a fan of big menus, but this place is an exception. They have so many options, that you will definitely find EXACTLY what you want, for a reasonable price. Unlike most breakfast places, In House Café does not provide home fries and a stack of toast(the classic«plate fillers») with absolutely every breakfast option — however, if that is what you’re looking for, i’m sure In House has it. I ordered the Three Stooges, which included 3 buttermilk pancakes, fresh fruit, 3 slices of bacon and 3 eggs(any style). The pancakes were fluffy, and tasted fantastic with the fruit. I was also pleased to receive a plate of eggs that were scrambled to perfection and not the least bit dry! My boyfriend ordered the Belgian Style Waffles, which included 3 Belgian waffles covered in chocolate syrup and fried bananas, along with two eggs and some ham. The Belgian Waffles were by far my favourite, especially paired with the chocolate sauce and bananas. Given the fact that we paid just over $ 20 for 4 plates of food, you’re definitely getting your money’s worth!

I am giving this place four stars solely for the food. We got two dishes of the«biscuits with hollandaise» which was basically eggs Benedict with biscuits. As well as a side of fruit and some orange juice that was in their display fridge. Breakdown of the food: Egg dishes with biscuits were amazing. The eggs were not poached like a traditional Benedict, probably why it was not labeled as such. We however were asked how we wanted them and we chose over easy. They were perfectly cooked and the hollandaise was silky and the biscuits buttery and crumbling below the luscious sauce and egg was perfect. The dish came with sausage links and turkey bacon which we thought was a little odd but was not bad as well as home fries which were solid but nothing to rave about unlike the eggs and biscuit which shined. Side of fruit was surprisingly fresh, varied and a nice portion cannot complain. Food: 4⁄4 Now for the service and overall ambience… once you walk in be prepared for it to feel a little strange. Theres a counter but also tons of mismatched tables and a house like décor. The guy behind the counter did not immediately greet us so for a minute or so we fumbled trying to decipher if we should sit down or order at the front. Soon after, he directed us to order at the counter and that then we should sit anywhere and have our food brought to us. Seemed easy enough. We ordered what we wanted and payed right then and there at the counter. Once we sat down, we waited for what seemed like a very short time and a random waitress who seemed a little preoccupied perhaps brought our food down and we asked for some water before she left. As we ate our food we realized the water was never brought, even though we requested it while ordering our food at the counter as well as later once our food was brought to the waitress. Not a big deal, just something to note. Overall, would come back for the food but not a big fan of the overall ambience which seems to be combining a sit down casual coffee shop and a restaurant all in one. Clearer rules at the beginning would reduce confusion.

Amazing brunch place… I wish I knew about this place sooner. Pros: Amazing iced coffee They have soy and almond milk Amazing French toast! comes with eggs In house French toast, amazing– caramelized fruit Traditional French toast, very good — fresh fruit Interest seating — tables and chairs are all different and it adds a lot of charm Cons: They only have beef or turkey bacon. I wanted to try the lunch items and they have a limited selection. I was told the chicken kabob was good. I ordered the falafel wrap with hummus — okay, nothing special. Didn’t love the falafel.

So this place is great, but definitely not what I expected when Unilocal directed me to a close café… It almost looks like an accidental café. It’s more like someone’s living room with lots of tables and one day someone walked into someone’s house and tried to order a cup of coffee… after that it seems like they were like, okay, let’s serve food. boom. In House café was born.(maybe that’s why the name?) The guys behind the counter were nice, the chai was homemade and delicious and my raisin bran muffin was good. Wifi password is «goodfood» and it’s unlimited and fast. Great place to get work done. Highly recommend, just be aware it’s an odd(but delightful) café
