I was there a couple of days ago and ordered game time fries… big mistake. I ended up at urgent care for food poisoning. don’t know if their washing their hands or food is properly being cooked… I never had a problem before. it’s a shame that I will not be going back there again. it’s not worth getting sick over.

I love Tops but Tops Jr was never on my radar because it seemed to be at the end of the world location wise. But now that I work just down the street, my coworkers make runs to Tops Jr maybe 2 — 3 times a week. I alternate between the sausage breakfast burrito and the carne asada burrito. There is some seasoning I believe in the hash browns that they put in the breakfast burritos that just makes the flavors just pop. I’ve been ordering mine with easy potatoes and with extra salsa. As for the carne asada burrito, it’s got pico de gallo, beans and rice along with carne asada of course. I usually like my burritos just meat, salsa and cheese but they managed to blend the flavors well enough I don’t mind the bean and rice in their burritos. I ask for extra salsa and pico de gallo on these too. I haven’t tried their pastrami here yet but I do prefer the Tops in Pasadena over the Hat. We’ll see what happens. I just hope they get some hot peppers in soon. It’s been a week and no yellow chilies have arrived.

Apparently, this place has a ton of nostalgia for people. Thin burger patties. Best thing going for this place is their breakfast burritos and chile cheese fries with pastrami. YUM!

Small fastfood joint on the Main St. They have really great burgers and carne asada/chilli fries. The parking is ok since it’s not too busy. i live nearby and gave this place a try for the first time and was not disappointed.

Just average. Burger is better than the fast food chains. Fries could use seasoning. Does in a pinch if it’s close to you, your drunk, or short on cash. Hard to give it much more in LA’s modern burger culture.

Pretty reliable… Favorites are the pastrami, burgers, and chili fries. The pastrami breakfast burrito is also very good… and huge.

Tops is an old school walk-up window, located a block away from the corner of Main & Fremont. Hubby and I stepped up on a Friday night for an unhealthy dinner. There were a couple of people in front of us in line, but it moved quickly. There’s a few round tables/benches to sit at while awaiting your order(we planned to take our order home, but there were people eating at the benches, too). What did we get? Pastrami Melt-I can only guess this was Very Good because I wasn’t able to get a bite. Its their Pastrami Dip w/added 1000 island & grilled onions. Asada Burrito-Very Good, unhealthy burrito; brought me back to our college days. Asada Fries-I wasn’t a fan. I thought the guacamole on top was too runny. Onion Rings-These were good. Breading wasn’t too thick and fried thoroughly. We would return when craving some unhealthy food.

Great food at a good price. They have a very good pastrami dip sandwich! My wife likes their bacon cheeseburgers. The zucchini fries are very good as well as their regular french fries… you’ve got to try their guacamole fries!!! Highly recommend this place to eat.

I have tried the chili cheese fries, tuna melt, and pastrami melt. All three were excellent. They accept visa/mastercard which is nice because i dont carry cash with me. They have a small parking lot which is great too. Definitely will be going back.

I love this place! I live very close by, so this has been my go to spot for over 10 years. I love everything about it. The portion of food they give for the price is good in my opinion. My favorite place to go to for chili cheese fries. I also really like the carne asada fries! The guac has a different taste to it than other places which I like! I never ever think about going to The Hat because this place beats them hands down! :)

This place is pretty good and quick at making your food. I love their breakfast burritos, it fills me up pretty quick and full through out the day. Portion is huge but thats how it should be because they are a little bit pricey but still worth it. Better than the usual chain fast foods around the area. I love the chili they give on the side(not the sauce but the actual chili peppers), its amazing and i can eat them with their fries all day. I recommend lol.

Came here for the chili cheese fries, and they were really yummy! I know this sounds bad, but my fave is still Weinershniztel. it’s more saltier there, which is bad I know. So, Tops should be better because it probably has less sodium but ugh. Anyways, I have yet to try the other things on the menu, but the set up is outdoor seating. Service was whatever, he ignored me at first did some other stuff and then took my order, it was like standard fast food restaurant service. The menu looks similar to Dino’s Chicken and is kind of pricier I would say? Not by much though, maybe a dollar at max? The large chili cheese fries was 6 dollars! It was a lot: D(this was obv. on my cheat day)

Get the chili cheese fries with grilled onions on top. This is probably one of my favorite chili cheese fries. But, I honestly haven’t eaten here for years but the food is good!

Some food items are GREAT and some items are just INEDIBLE. And then there are the ones in between. GREAT: Chili Cheese Fries, Game Time Fries Seriously addictive! Their chili has a very nice flavor and they use shredded cheese. The fries hold up nicely under all the chili. GOOD: Patty Melt, greasy but tasty. Tuna salad, melt or sandwich; pretty decent. SOSO…: Guac sauce. Some are okay with this sorry imitation. Me, I’ll eat it if I forget to say«hold the guac sauce» INEDIBLE: Carne Asada. Every bite full had gristle fat that I had to spit out. There was no way to chew it enough for consumption. I actually had to throw away my food.

Had lunch here the other day. My friend had the pastrami, which looked good. I had the bacon cheeseburger combo. A lot of fries and a very tasty burger. The meat patty was a bit on the slim side(think McDonald’s) but still held flavor. The highlight: orange bang. Seriously. I haven’t had orange bang in years. Tops looks like a hole in the wall but the food is tasty and reasonably priced. There’s shared seating so if you like your space it may not be the place for you. The parking lot is smallish(glad I wasn’t driving). Overall a great spot for lunch. Next time I’ll try the pastrami.

I had the opportunity to have their bacon cheeseburger, onion rings and fries. I was not disappointed. I first visited this location in middle school, 17 years ago, I can still remember my pleasant experiemce. Recently, I had the opportunity to end up there again and I was amazed that their burgers are as deliciois, if not better tasting than the first time I had them. I like the size of the burger, which allows me to have 2 different burgers if I wanted to.

Down and out gritty. A typical dive outdoor food stand with tables. I have driven and walked by this place so many times and have heard about the monster orders of fries & the amazing pastrami sandwiches. Well after a hard work out and walking back I decided to grab breakfast and ordered the sausage egg burrito with a little salsa. The cook was very nice, he takes one order at a time and there was a father daughter in front of me and wondering why they were just standing there and realized he takes payment when food is done. Needless to say the wait was amazing. The burrito was the bomb and with great flavor and not greasy at all! Need to come back here for more comfort food! No one this place has been here forever!

After we finished christmas shopping at Target, we decided go to Top’s Jr just minutes away from Target, we were hungry after long hour from work and christmas shopping for our family and friends and buying her stuff for my wife pre school class. I remember be coming here since I was in El Sereno Jr and Wilson High. The food is still really good since it been here in Alhambra many years. We arrive almost closing time we decided quickly to get the grilled chicken sandwich to share and my father-in-law came with us shopping he got the cheeseburger combo. Couple minutes later our food was ready our grilled chicken sandwich was big we then to cut it in half we can share it. The sandwich have a very flavor with lettuce, tomatoe and the grilled chicken plus their sauce. To me it need more flavor it wasn’t bland it just need pickles and a spicy sauce or more, but the bread they use a French bread very good. The fries were good we didn’t finish the fries. My father-in-law enjoy his burger and fries. The funny thing happen when we were eat they turn off the lights off we were almost but we didn’t complain. Overall Top’s Jr still making great good and continue making it.

For many years I passed by Tops Jr. and never gave it a thought. It’s a food-stand… I disliked the idea of waiting for food in the wind and dust and noise of traffic. I was so wrong! After trying the pastrami wrap tonight, I’m doing some serious self-evaluation. This was seriously the best pastrami I have had! Juicy, tender, masterfully wrapped with guacamole(what a clever and simple recipe)! I’m having a hard time believing that this came out of a food-stand, $ 6.49. This is better than ANY pastrami sandwich I had in any fancy classy restaurants. I don’t need ambiance or service for this baby! You can be sure that I’m coming back!
