In Albuquerque for work, searched for a good Mexican place, came across this hidden gym. Fantastic burritos. Real beans were great, didn’t get the refried beans. Highly recommend.

Never have been to Albuquerque before, and this was a nice little surprise to start off my trip here. Food was excellent, I had the country fried chicken steak topped with green chili sauce, side of eggs and hashbrowns. Omg I highly recommend this place for an out of town breakfast experience.

This was our first New Mexican food stop and I was glad I came. The sopadillas were soft and great filled. This is the food I remember when I lived here in NM.

I am so glad I read the reviews about this place and decided to go. Such great food! And I’m excited that they had a vegetarian option for the chile. Everything was fresh and tasty. My only complaint is that they do not accept tips via credit card. So, we were jerks and couldn’t leave a tip because we didn’t have cash. We will make up for it the next time we go.

We met her with our family for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We had a very large party, 12 with children. The staff was extremely accommodating and they put several tables together for us. I ordered the half huevos rancheros Christmas style. The green chile was outstanding!!! This is coming from a native New Mexican who can make it myself! The red was ok, very dark and not my favorite but nonetheless not bad. The hashbrowns were cooked to perfection crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I chose refried beans but they were overwhelmingly bacon grease tasting. Not my thing. My tortilla was great! It was homemade!!! The service was impeccable they treated us like family! I will certainly come back.

This was the first time eating here. Food and service was excellent! We came with a party of 12, and they were very accommodating. Service was very good, food came out promptly and was just what was ordered, I ordered the beef, potatoes and bean stuffed sopapilla, sopapilla was nice and fluffy. Chile was very good and tasty, not to much heat but just enough. Everybody in the party thought the food was excellent!

THISISMYHIDDENTREASURE. I was born and raised coming to this place. When my mother was pregnant she was eating Perea’s breakfast burritos so that says a lot. It’s local and it’s a family oriented business. They have been around Albuquerque longer then I’ve been alive. They switch locations every few years and the customers follow this place wherever it goes. I have hesitated writing about this place because it’s my spot. I always order a egg, potato, toriso, burrito with red chili and it is delicious! If you don’t come here, that’s okay with me because I don’t like waiting but I would wait hours to eat breakfast here!

Great Service! Great Food! Ask for Amanda to be your server! Also dont forget a bit of cash — they only accept cash tips! But they still take CC for payment! Happy Unilocaling!

Breakfast & lunch only here. Had carne adovada breakfast burrito. Carne was awesome! Tender, flavorful, HOT! Tortilla was a little thick/heavy but good. Ordered smothered with Red Chile. Chile was dark and rich as I like it. Just right heat to give me an excuse for devouring my sopapilla and honey. Muy deliciosa!

Great little spot for New Mexican-style breakfasts. Nothing fancy, very plain(but nice) and small on the inside. Service was quick(though it was mostly empty when we were there) and the food was really good and cheap. Chorizo was really good and so was my wife’s breakfast burrito. Definitely recommend this place for a simple traditional or New Mexican breakfast. Positives: No frills, cheap and good! Have traditional and New Mexican style breakfasts. Negatives: None.

A star for cleanliness; a star for hospitality; and 3 stars for the food! All which equals up to 5 stars! I took a chance to try it out and was amazed! The food/green chile was excellent. Had breakfast and it was so delicious. This place is awesome!

Eat here! I’ve eaten here several times. Less than 5 minutes from I-40, east side of town, so a convenient stop for travelers who want great New Mexican food. Excellent green chili breakfast burritos! Soft, chewy, thick-style homemade flour tortillas soak up all the extra green chili. Everything on the menu is tempting if it’s all this good, but I always get the breakfast burrito. Got a quart of the green chili to-go at a reasonable, store-bought price, so not that cheap. But the kitchen asked if I wanted it cold, since it was going into a plastic quart container, which was very thoughtful! Warning: they close early(2 pm). I went in 5 – 10 minutes before closing and ordered. Waiting for my food, I realized they were closing. The kitchen still turned out top-notch food, and the waitress told me to sit and enjoy my meal. I tipped both of them extra well! Don’t miss this place.

About 10 – 15. Mins from downtown but worth the drive and it’s all freeway anyway so its quick. Perea’s is as local as it gets. It’s just a little café but spotless and family run. The granddaughter was at the cash register and grandma was serving food. The food is classic New Mexican and southwestern. Really good Hueavos Rancheros, and super good Adovoado(slow cooked pork marinaded in red chile and slow cooked for hours) red and green chile fabulous. I highly recommend this place because I love small family run restaurants. The qui linty and service were very very good.

I’ve been eating here pretty much my whole life. Thru all of the location changes, this is a true family restaurant with home cooking. The chile is made by angels I’m sure, cuz every bite is like a taste of heaven. And the hashbrowns… oh sweet Jesus these hashbrowns. Crispy, buttery golden outside, true goodness inside. It’s a bit pricey for me, but worth every penny. Big plates, wonderful staff, amazing food. I always leave with a full tummy and a very happy heart.

Best juevos rancheros in town(menu item #9, with hash browns, and green chile)! As other reviews have already mentioned, Perea’s changes locations periodically(which is puzzling/inconvenient — the only reason they don’t get 5 stars), but because the food is so good, they maintain a following and remain busy. For the past 17 – 18 years, Perea’s has been my go-to for great juevos rancheros. I love how their homemade flour tortillas are thick and support the massive servings of crispy hash browns, eggs, and fresh green chile sauce(with ground beef). Fyi, the chile is hot and delicious, just how true New Mexicans like it! So… if you’re unfamiliar with New Mexican food, or if you haven’t acquired the taste yet, order your chile on the side and add your preferred amount. With that said, if it’s not smothered, you’re missing out!

Thanks, Unilocalers! We never would have found this place without you! I had the sopapilla stuffed with carne abodabo and it was amazing! Be prepared to sweat a bit and to find ice cream afterwards! Service was awesome, food showed up quickly. Highly recommend. They supposedly have a great breakfast, too!
