Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Over all, a pretty average Five Guys. One of the perks of this chain is that the food is simple and quality control is superb, including this place.
This location isn’t as squeaky clean as others, though I suspect that has to do with the high traffic and mall location, not slothful staff. Generally, staff is on the friendly side of professional. When things get busy, a manager usually helps call out order numbers and deliver meals.
As for the food, Five Guys always cooks their burgers well done. At this location their bacon has always been so crispy it veers into burned territory. On the flip side, buns are warm but not really toasted.

Five Guys burgers are always a winner and this store is no exception.

If you love beef, then Five Guys is your place.
The buns are small and thin. They are there to serve only one purpose… to give you something to hold onto. They do not detract from the beef patties. Nothing fancy here. Just simple, small, thin, buns. You’re here for the beef, not the buns.
Five Guys uses Kraft American cheese. It’s passes the legal definition of cheese, but that’s about as close as it gets to being actual cheese. But that’s ok. Because when it melts, it mixes with the fat of the beef, and makes a gooey, salty, cheesy/​fatty sauce, and its magical.
The toppings… some burger chains are about toppings, to the detriment of the beef patty. But at Five Guys toppings are secondary. And if you’re smart, you’ll keep them to a minimum. I never put more than two toppings on a Five Guys burger. Why would I want to mask that delicious beef?
Yes, it’s those beef patties that makes Five Guys special. Thin, well seasoned, incredibly well crusted, and bursting with fat and flavor.
Oh that crust! There is no burger chain (that I’ve eaten at anyway) that can match the delicious, almost crunchy crust Five Guys gets on their burgers. There’s only one thing that tastes better than ground beef, and it’s caramelized ground beef!
Greasy. Yeah, those burgers are greasy. I LOVE BEEF FAT! And Five Guys delivers in spades.
If you want fancy schmancy «sandwiches» that just happen to have a beef patty in them, go elsewhere. But if you love ground beef, you’ve just entered the gates of Heaven when you walk through the doors of a Five Guys.

Not too thrilled with this burger and fries mall location. I received a cold and bland burger along with super salty fries. With plentiful seating and parking along the Wolf Road side on the mall, I could imagine mostly movie goers, mall shoppers, and those who just want to fill up on fast food stopping in for a quick bite.
The peanuts are in cardboard boxes for you to fill up on with a scoop provided while you wait for your number to be called. The soda machine is the Coca Cola Freestyle. The bathrooms located in the back of the far right side after the soda machine was not close to clean and was out of paper towels. It made me think how often do they check it?
As I retrieved my order in a brown paper bag with grease showing through I sat down and took my burger and fries out on the table to enjoy. Or rather NOT enjoy, as I found a cool to touch burger and even cooler temperature bun, tomato, lettuce, ect. I’m not sure how this happened but I can tell you I wanted a burger and not some cold cut deli sandwich. I also thought my Cajun fries were way too salty and overseasoned not to mention greasy, limp, and soggy. I asked the register staff person about the temperature of my burger but all I was told was «I’m not sure» and a shoulder shrug. Maybe it’s just this location for the not so thrilling experience? One star for the availability of seating and one star for the short wait for getting my order.

I was in Colonie Center location this morning and it was quiet just before lunch. I’m sure an hour later it was packed. I know it’s not the best thing in the world for me to be eating but on occasion I enjoy it. No doubt they have the best hamburgers of the other franchise chains. All made to order and fresh and hot with a wide choice of toppings. Nice young man to deal with at the register, well prepared food, Way too many fries for me to eat… but if you’re into fries you’d be in heaven! I guess all I can say is if you want a good burger in a fast food location this is well worth the extra cost. The peanuts are a nice touch to nosh on while you wait for your order to be prepared,

A bigger let down than In and Out but welcome to America I guess.
What the hell people see in this place I don’t know. I saw everyone’s cholesterol rising as each bite went in their mouth. Followed by grease dripping off their chin and rolling down their hands.
Ga-​ross. The wife and I felt ill the next day for eating such nastiness. Back to our garden please!!!
Not cheap either.

Typical five guys — no trouble here!

Overpriced, tasteless and overrated.
I had a regular hamburger that was pathetic in size and flavor. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger that tasted better, but had a hysterical amount of calories.
The food is so greasy it made me feel ill. I would only ever recommend Five Guys to the severely hungover. With obesity rates where they are, America could do with out this resturaunt.
However, the establishment is clean and generously offers complimentary half rotten peanuts.

Hmmm, I tend to not bother with repeat reviews of franchises and almost never bother with mall locations, but we’d like to give a special shout-​out to this particular Cinco Chicos. I believe that one thing that sets this chain apart is they have unusually chipper and cheery staff (perhaps it’s all that singing along to nostalgia radio stations), but this particular location has featured even more helpful and friendlier staff than average. They’ve been particularly patient with the junior members of our party changing minds/​orders, making messes, and coming up with special requests, and I haven’t even gotten a whiff that we were putting them out one bit. (I contrast this in my mind’s eye to the time we asked for a boy’s toy instead of a girl’s toy at a particular McYuckyFastFood chain when ordering the «Happy» meal, and you’d have thought I had told the clerk I was going to date his mother and sell his dog.)
Holding out on that fifth star for when they get In-​and-​Out style milkshakes, at which time there will be a star for every guy, but in the meantime, tippy-​top four stars.

It seems like a good idea before you eat it. And the food tastes fantastic but I always regret it after. I have tried multiple locations and always the same result. Upset stomach. I don’t know if its the burger, the fries, or both.
If you are looking for cheap, great tasting burger in the area but without the bubble guts I recommend The Brown Bag in Troy.

I love Five Guys and this was the first time ordering online, everything was flawless, they dont make your frys till you get there and its as easy as telling the pick up window/​counter you placed a web order and get your food.
