Well it was nice to get some feedback from someone. First off it was on Friday around 7pm or so and I understand that it was a little busy at the time, however when we were seated as mentioned, we had not received any menus, water or any bread or anything. And the older Asian lady, I believe the hostess at the time was pretty rude too me, hence why I left the negative remarks. I tried to explain to her that we’ve been waiting now at least 20 minutes before anybody even showed up to our table and granted we are regular customers who frequent your establishment. Anyway I told her that we have not been served anything not even menus, food or bread for 20 minutes, than she kind of brushed me off and said, «I am sorry but we are busy right now.» And basically she ignored me and walked away from me. That pissed me off, because she didn’t do anything about it and obviously she doesn’t know how to handle multiple customers at once. Don’t sit someone down and expect not to have a upset customer on your hands. Our waitress was really nice, however the way that hostess handled the situation could have been different, I have never been talked down to like that any where. I’ve been to foreign countries before and have always had excellent service even if I didn’t understand the language! My biggest point is here, I don’t appreciate being brushed off, ignored or talked down too.

Wish I had read some of the other reviews before«eating» here today. STAYAWAY! We had a reservation for 4 and had told them it was a birthday celebration multiple times. The owner seated us(made us wait for no apparent reason), with NO menus. After waiting over 15 minutes for someone to come over I got up and asked if we could get some menus. The owner was very, VERY rude! She told me to «sit down and wait». I wanted to leave(which we should have), but didn’t want to ruin my friend’s birthday. A good 10 minutes later a very sheepish waitress came over with menus. We asked for water and ordered drinks. I’ll skip over the waiting an entire 30 minutes to get starter salads/soup and another additional 25 minutes to get so-called entrees. My Birthday friend ordered an entrée salad with chicken that looked like a starter salad at best. The rest of the food was mediocre at best. The waitress came by and cleared just my plate. A couple minutes later she brings the bill! I have never had the experience of a waitress not even asking us if we wanted coffee/dessert or anything else? And, they completely forgot to bring my friend his birthday dessert. There were never any apologies. We will never ever be back. Go elsewhere!!! They didn’t want our business and probably don’t want yours either.

Appalled by the policy of charging $ 1 per person when a birthday cake is brought in… One would think that the mgr./wait staff would be given discretion to waive this charge(at least) when the host is disabled & elderly as was the case. Another sad instance of «nickel & diming.» Please institute a more compassionate policy.

Easy and relax breakfast with a water front view of the docks. I recommend your standard American morning meals like egg and sausage or beacon with toast that Come with side fruit. It feels like hidden gem for the area.

I went last night for their prime rib again. It’s the only place I get prime rib besides when it’s served at brunch buffets. Their prime rib is super generous with appetizer, side and dessert included for $ 18. I really love the harbor view, and their flexibility in cooking things to order. I took pictures of the prime rib but forgot to take pics of the fried shrimp and lamb shanks that we also tried.

Went in for lunch on Friday, but won’t be going back! Had dry Salmon and Clam chowder soup. The soup was sooooooooo bland, with one clam. Very little flavor. More like Potato soup. My Mom was in from London, and I told her that Pier 29 had good soup. All three people that had soup said the same thing, this soup is not very good! How does a place get Clam chowder soup so wrong? Told the server about the issue, he said he’d tell the cook, then never got back to us. $ 57. for three soups and a dry piece of Salmon! Never again.

Bland, tiny portions and none of our three dishes between the three of us tasted good. I was excited because it is a great location, but we re all disappointed with our meals. Total ripoff.

This place suprised me. After reading the reviews of Pier 29, we decided to try it out. We had a wonderful meal. We had six in our party, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was impeccable. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. All in all, good food, good service, and a great view.

Our view was really nice, overlooking yacht harbor. Our server was a bit off… seemed put out whenever we asked for anything and even rolled his eyes when my mom asked what sides came with a dish. He wasn’t accommodating of pleasant. Bread could be better. Calamari was delicious. My parents both enjoyed their meals. I think the clam chowder has a nice consistency but lacked flavor. Overall, nice location. Feels like an old school seafood place. No frills, nothing trendy. Good for older folks or for people who just want a view and some good seafood.

One of my favorites! Everything on the menu is delicious. I particularly love their breakfast options with seafood. If you drink, try their yummy mimosas.

Our first time dining here. No one was at the hostess table when we entered the restaurant. I hate standing around being ignored when I enter a restaurant. We didn’t wait too long… then the host seemed a little confused as to WHERE he should seat us even though there were numerous open tables and then pointed to one that had not been cleared yet and said let me clean this one up for you… so then we stood in the dining room awaiting this table to be cleaned and set. Finally we were seated and a waitress brought us menus and plunked a plate down with 4 tubs of butter and 3 tiny baguette bread slices. We ordered drinks and stated we needed a few minutes to look at the menu, but then waited so long for anyone to come back that my husband finally had to flag someone down to take our order. There is no ambiance in this restaurant… bright overhead lighting gives it a cafeteria feel. We were there after dark so could not take in any water views. The ONLY reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because my prime rib was very good. But then prime rib is a no brainer… I had a baked potato, salad and steamed veggies… all plain nothing special. Staff seemed rushed. Won’t come back.

Been passing this place for many times and finally decided to give it a shot last Saturday with my mother. Food is OK but really bad customer service. So we shared the same waiter with the table next to us(lovely retired Caucasian couple).Whenever this waiter talked to the retired couple next to us, he smiled and answered questions politely. When it was our term to order food, the smile of the waiter just gone. The waiter just suddenly turned into a robot like human(no facial expression). Every time when he interacted with us, same face with no facial expression till the moment we left. I don’t know this guy just hate Asian or what, but I guess I will not dine in again.

Made reservations for 10, on a Thursday evening for our Christmas Dinner. At first, we were a little hesitant on having dinner here due to all the negative Unilocal reviews. Made it anyway. I’m pretty glad we did because we had an amazing dinner. First off at the bar — Service was OK, bartender was a little slow. Dinner — Most of all ordered either Prime Rib or Rib Eye. Food was really good. Dessert — I had cheesecake but supposedly the Mango Mousse Cake? was to die for. My only reason for 4 stars is because the service for dinner is slower than Molasses. We got seated, waited and waited. My manager had to go get a waiter to get us all waters and the menu. Then we waited and waited for the waiter to come take our order. Food came out at a decent time, surprisingly. Here we go flagging the waiter down again to order desserts. After dessert, we waited, and waited then waited some more to get our check. After about 20 mins or so, I excused myself to use the restroom and while passing the front desk, I asked them politely to bring us our check. I would come back again.

I’ve waited to write a review on Pier 29 because I’ve waited to see if what other Unilocalers have said is true. My family and I have gone here very often now and are definitely regulars. We have always come during the early bird dining hours which suits us very well since my sister and brother-in-law have two small children that need to sleep fairly early and it allows my dad to drive through the tunnel before it gets too late. I have never had a bad experience here. Yes, there are times when service may be a bit slower because all of their tables are filled but that has to be expected. I think my only criticism would be that the salt in the teriyaki sauce and pork loin could be a little less but otherwise everything is pretty spot on, especially when you’re paying about $ 15 for soup or salad, an entrée, and a dessert. Where else, especially on the island, can you find such a great deal? I think my favorites are the BBQ rib chef special(changes daily), the Polynesian plate chef special, the golden fried prawns(if you’re starving, you may want to get something that has more substance… it is seafood), and the prime rib. I normally order either french fries, baked potato, or garlic mashed potatoes as my side. For my starter, their clam chowder is spot on but I also occasionally change it up so I’ll have the chicken corn chowder or whatever the other soup option is for the day. Clam chowder is offered daily. For dessert, my parents and I order the Spumoni ice cream but my sister often gets the tapioca pudding and my brother-in-law opts for the ice cream sundae(vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce). I’ve also tried their rainbow sherbet which is nice on hot days. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words so I’ll be sure to post some in addition to ones I’ve already posted. Oh, and this restaurant has a wonderful view of the bay and the city skyline. On warmer days, you can sit outside and watch locals take their boats out.

Visiting from southern California we decided on this place because of the location; close to our hotel and the view of the city lights of San Francisco. The service was good, very patient with taking our orders and answering any of our questions. Our 1st order of appetizers was pretty disappointing; we ordered the Louisiana style ½ lb shrimp. — The shrimp could have used more cleaning, thankfully our server let us replace it. After that experience we were skeptical about the rest of the menu but we were quickly convinced otherwise. The blackened shrimp did not disappoint & our main dishes; cajun and seafood pasta was delicious! The atmosphere was much older than we expected but overall it was a great place to spend the evening as a family.

Derrick, This is my first time eating oysters from Mexico. I have eaten oysters since I was a kid. I can remember every holiday my Dad would go to Tamalas Bay and come back with a burlap sack filled with fresh oysters. That is where my love of fresh oysters began. I typically prefer the smaller oysters. But have had all types from many restaurants in San Francisco and East Bay While I had never had oysters from Mexico I thought I would give them a try. The taste is not for me. Thank you for responding.

Why I was here is unimportant(jury duty, yay). What is important is that the food was… how can I put this? Oh, yeah. Uninspired. Rather like this review, honestly. Pier 29 was completely and utterly uninspiring. The food was eh, even factoring in that it was a meal paid for by someone else. The service was okay(one waitress was friendly, one was brusque). Drink refills were glacial in speed despite an almost empty house. I had the Cajun snapper with«garlic» mashed potatoes, and iced tea. I think they forgot the garlic. They definitely forgot anything at all resembling ‘Cajun’ spices on the fish. The best part of the meal was that the waitress remembered to pull out the lemon wedge before setting the glass down.

This place is awful. Came here for Mother’s Day, overall the food quality is a 1 and over priced! A much older crowd. Sad it’s so close to my house it would be the perfect little dinner spot. The one good Thing they managed was a Manhattan.

I have to add that my table of 8 had clean plates that evening so that’s very telling of the food! Delicious… Pier 29 made the evening special for everyone! Thanks!
