This is a review of a solo early dinner at Yong Fa Eating House in Albert Centre Market and Food Centre. The staff was attentive and fast. The food was served very quickly. The stall was clean. Diced Chicken with dried chillis — As I mentioned, the food was served quickly. In this case, too quickly. Why? Because it meant the food was not freshly prepared. I am not sure how long it had been sitting but it certainly wasn’t freshly cooked. It was cold. The chicken was slightly hard but not overly so. The flavours were ok. I expected it to be a bit spicier though. The rice was also pretty cold. The portion was small. Cost: $ 2.50 Overall — The food at Yong Fa Eating House was simply not that good. I am sure it would have been better if it had been freshly prepared but I am do not know how much better. It’s fast enough. It’s cheap enough. But that can be said about other stalls in Albert Centre that provide food I enjoy more. (Albert Centre can be a bit of a gong show. By any standard, this is a large food centre. There are over 100 stalls. It is not particularly well-known for any of them. There are a lot of very affordable options though. The floors are often wet and slippery. During busy times be ready to wrestle with aunties for tables. Plus, in very busy times, the cleaning crew can’t keep up with things and many tables will be cluttered with trays and left-overs. In slower times, it can be quite pleasant.)
