Food! Food! Food! There’s almost everything here. Just love it! Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chicken Curry, Black Carrot Cake, Wonton, etc. Most dishes are 4SG or less.

Convenient, cheap, oily AND delicious Hawker food. Yes it may be hot and you may have to share a table with a stranger but getting a wonderfully flavoursome meal for under $ 5AUD seems like a bargain to me. Locals and tourists mingle here and enjoy the lovely hot stickyness of Singapore but have no fear, food and drinks makes everyone happy right? Must try-Guan Kee fried carrot cake #01−59& Heng Heng FIshball Noodle.

Huge hawker center with heaps of stalls to choose from. The turnover is pretty quick, so do not worry about not finding a seat even during lunch hour. Unfortunately the fans aren’t very powerful so it is pretty darn hot(in my opinion) inside the hawker center. Luckily, there are quite a few stalls selling cold drinks. Definitely have a walk around first to see what stalls interest you before looking for a table. Note: There is a few sinks near the entrance(mid section of the hawker) where you can wash your hands.

Albert Centre is decent hawker centre especially if you are staying in the area. But I won’t suggest to make a trip just to eat here. The usual food stall that you can try out all local food with the local people. I was here one morning for breakfast which I had a great experience as the place was not crazily busy and I can find seating. But when I came back on a Sunday afternoon around 3 pm, the place was just packed! I can barely even work around and check out the stalls. There is a lot of older folks hanging out here… I guess if this is your crowd, Albert Centre is a good place to hang!

This is a review of a solo dinner at Stall #01−103(Kwan Kee Roast) in Albert Centre Food Market. The staff was friendly and polite. The service was quick. The stall area was clean and well kept. Char siew and roast pork rice — This was simply delicious. i loved it. It was tender. It was tasty. With the added sauce, there was a dash of heat. The rice was right on. Considering the cost, the portion was quite generous. Cost: $ 3 Overall — This was a very enjoyable meal. It is mind-blowing that you can get food that good and that fast for three bucks. (Albert Centre can be a bit of a gong show. By any standard, this is a large food centre. There are over 100 stalls. It is not particularly well-known for any of them. There are a lot of very affordable options though. The floors are often wet and slippery. During busy times be ready to wrestle with aunties for tables. Plus, in very busy times, the cleaning crew can’t keep up with things and many tables will be cluttered with trays and left-overs. In slower times, it can be quite pleasant.)

The food centre located on the 1st story of Albert Centre offers a wide variety of they typical Singaporean hawker fare. Often visited by the older folks in the day, I like going there for breakfast and getting my usual fix of chee cheong fun, you tiaos and soon kuehs. The you tiao stall there is pretty awesome! Always crisp and tasty, it is one of the first stalls I head to when I’m in the area. It tends to be emptier in the late morning, early afternoon and its a great place for a quiet feast of local foods! My mum likes to buy the homemade popiah skins from one of the stalls there too!

The Albert Centre is also another place to visit for shopping. Along with the usual clothing, shoes, bags and what not, there are some trinkets and giveaways that you can purchase as well. Week before the New Year, I came here with the intent to purchase a lucky charm for my mom and dad as a present. The sales associate was very helpful to me in searching for the perfect gift for them. And she was nice to also fit the price with my budget. They didn’t sell me items just for the sake of making a sale, they made sure that I absolutely loved the items they suggested before the haggling began. Bargain shopping can be a fun and fulfilling experience. Especially when the sales people work hand in hand with you in order to get the perfect item at its best price.

Every Chinese New Year, I’ll come here with my parents to shop for the necessary foodstuffs either for our reunion dinner or as gifts to relatives. On the upper level, many shops display huge packets of nuts, bird’s nest, and other dried food at their storefront. You can even sample those edible ones to decide if you want to buy. When it’s not Chinese New Year, the hawker centre is worthy of a visit if you’re in the area looking for cheaper food than those offered in the surrounding shopping malls. There are also some small shops to browse, but there’s not a lot of people here except older folks.
