Xin Mei Congee

The porridge is thick and gooey, sufficiently flavoured and fragrant. I like the fact that the porridge is tasty yet not overly salty. The fish porridge is quite good, with fish slices that taste fresh. Other recommendations would be the pork porridge and the chicken-​slices porridge (ji si). The best part about the dish is the crispy you-​tiao that comes along with the bowl of piping, hot porridge. Because the porridge is not watery, the you-​tiao can absorb the gooey mix without losing its crispiness.
