Tried out this place after it was voted as the best carrot cake in Singapore by Straits Times. In general, I prefer black carrot cake compared to the white version. And the one served here is good. They were generous with the zai poh and it was fried well until there were some crispy bits in the dish.

This place has great carrot cake. You can choose either two varieties, black or white. I usually go for the black as that version as stronger taste due to the black sauce which they use. A plate nowadays costs 2.50 which is still a very decent price for carrot cake compared to eating in a food court where you probably have to fork out 3.50 or more. However, as their business is so good, be prepared that the stall will sell out by around 8pm so don’t come too late.

This carrot cake store has been around for a long time. While an old man used to man the store, a young guy(his son?) has now taken over. A plate of carrot cake which costs $ 1.50 or $ 2 is now $ 2.50 and you even have the option of adding large prawns at additional costs. However, the taste has not differed much since I first ate it as a student. While I usually like the white version of fried carrot cake, I like to order a plate of carrot cake with dark sauce here. The dark sauce has a nice sweet taste to it, without it being too cloying and masking the whole plate of carrot cake. Be prepared to queue on weekday nights and weekends.
