Way We Were

This is such an unassuming find on Neil Road, a street known for bars and clubs. Way We Were focuses on wine and whisky (my favourite «w» words!), specifically Burgundy, Japanese whisky and Scotch.
Their website describes themselves as «quiet luxury», and I couldn’t agree more. The space is very cosy, with beautiful bottles of rare whiskies and high-​end wines. Bottles range from $ 45 to $ 1000++. They also have a huge wine cellar, though I didn’t get to go inside.
Kenny, the manager, is very personable and not at all pretentious, answering all my amateur questions. His clientele are the types who can do blind tastings and guess vintages, so having to deal with my low level wine knowledge must be the equivalent of conversing with a kindergartener for him. Bless his soul.
They are only open by appointment on weekends, so be sure to reach out if you’d like to stop by then!
