Nice hipster milieu. Unfortunately little bitter pour over. El Carmen coffee. Roasted on Dec/12(over 2 weeks old).

I love that this place is well hidden. It’s a good place for a cup of coffee alone or with a friend. This place has one of my fav coffee. It has tastes creamy and rich with a nice aroma which I totally adore. The chairs have no backrest. So this might not be the place you are looking for if you are intending to spend hours there. Definitely one of the best places if you want a quiet place for a cuppa.(I have not visited it during lunch time so I’m not sure if it’s crowded or noisy then.) :)

love the ambience; gentrified shophouses in Tanjong Pagar are my fave! good coffee– very strong a little pricy though

We only stopped because we’d like to expand our horizons and get freshly roasted coffee rather than what’s been sitting on Cold Storage shelves for a few weeks. Hence we had no chance to try the menu which looked delicious. Wife had a cappucino that needed no sugar it was so smooth. We picked up a pack of the Aceh beans — figuring that being local the freshness would make a difference in taste. Lovely. Places like this should think about starting a fresh roast monthly delivery. Roasted, nitrogen packed adn thru the local mail to your house once or twice a month at $ 10 a pop — I’d pay. Nice shop. Great coffee. I wish them all the best sucess. Singapore needs more small, innovative places like this. Enough of the Orchard/Holland syndrome of massive chains

Coffee is great, retro chic deco, however lack of warmth and smell of coffee as you enter the establishment.

Oriole is located on quiet Jiak Chuan road. It is open by the same people who brought to you the Oriole on busy Orchard Road. Coffee is usually quite good — and is of a more consistent quality than the branch at Orchard. Out of the many times that I have been here, only once have i had to send back my coffee because the milk was burnt. Oriole Coffee Roasters also serves a pretty good kaya toast, with the toast being done just nice — nearly to the point of crisp, but still retaining softness. Also amazing is their bandung — it’s traditional bandung mixed with sparkles, making it effervescent to drink. Super refreshing.

Great ambiance with modern aesthetics and wood accents fitting of a coffee place located in a shop house. I had the Tuna melt toast and ice-coffee. Both were just alright. The main thing I didn’t like was the tuna on the Tuna melt was cold so you can basically work out in your head how they did the toast. The tuna is thrown on cold and if toasted for too long the bread and cheese would burn hence the tuna hardly gets heated. The ice coffee was pretty decent but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall a good place to just have coffee and small talk. Limited table seating as it is more of a training and roasting facility.

The Jiak Chuan Road area is stuffed full of great food gems, e.g. Esquina and the famous Tong Ya kaya toast as suggested by ieatishootipost. Oriole Coffee Roasters joined their ranks hardly a year ago, and looks set to establish itself comfortably in this area. Unlike the more contemporary outlet at Pan Pac Suites(Somerset), this Oriole is meant to be a modern spin on the traditional kopitiam. They replaced the usual kopi and teh with gourmet lattes and teas, and you find the usual kaya toast, except it comes with an extra creamy and decadent pandan kaya. On our(multiple) visits there, we’ve had the Oriole Set, which comes with your choice of coffee, kaya toast, and 2 organic free-range soft-boiled eggs($ 8.50). The fizzy bandung is amazing too. The coffee has also been reliably good(can’t say the same for their Somerset branch!). They have a hugeee bean roaster at the back, and customers are welcome to enter the room to view the roaster. Why else is it called«coffee roasters»? They also offer barista classes, so be sure to check with the staff there if you’re interested. Definitely a lovely place to stop by with friends for an afternoon chat. It’s also one of the few«indie» coffee places open on a Monday!
