This is probably 3.5 stars. The food is good but the service can be better. Maybe it is due to the layout of the restaurant or something, but it can be quite hard to get the attention of a service staff. There are seating available outdoor and indoor(right by entrance, below a short flight of stairs and above stairs where the main dining hall is). So depending on where you are seated, you may need to wait a long while for someone to notice you or you can always go right up to the beverage counter to get someone for faster service. The flat white I had was good. Likewise for the spicy beef wrap with criss cross waffle fries and salad. The wrap was warm and crispy with a gooey melty cheesy minced beef stuffed in it. The salad was fresh with a light dash of dressing. The fries were hot and addictive. The portion was generous and could be shared by two small eaters. I also liked the three way toast where you got to try three different toppings — poached egg, sliced sausage and mushrooms. Perfect for days when you just want a bit of everything. It also serves lamington which is decent, and may be one of the better versions around in Singapore.

After Dinner Coffee at The House of Robert Timms marred by bad service and attitude of this butch staff, Josie, who suddenly appeared and shouted, ‘NOPHOTOSALLOWED’ after I hv been taking photos for as long as I hv since stepped foot in and hv been sitting down at the café for the last 1 hour! Best of all, the staff who were behind the display counter has been seeing me take photos and at any time did not raise objection. I responded by telling her that there are so many blogs and sites that feature photos of the food here.(Mind you, we did not just had coffee, but juice, cakes, pie and cheesy bolognese criss cut fries, even though we had our dinner!) What was even more absurd was her answer in a rude manner that people who took the photos hv no morals!!! If she sees it she has to stop it but if people take photos in secrecy then she can’t do anything. How silly and absurd, especially when there’s no policy or signs to indicate that taking pics are prohibited and they are just normal cakes and macaroons on display!!! C’mon which café nowadays deny their diners to take pics of the food. This was on a Saturday night when their closing time was 3am but at 2am, the staff proceeded to off half the lights and billing all the tables, by 230am, all the diners were told that they Must vacate by 245am. If you don’t want to open late, then for goodness sake don’t pretend and just do the mundane Singaporean café thing and close your kitchen at 10pm. Robert Timms, please train your staff to have better service manner! What terrible and poor service demeanor!

The Cappucino and Robert Timms Banana Chocolate Frappé are great… However, do not take the Brownie as it tasted more like fudge cake… Can’t bring ourselves to «swallow«it… The Brownie at Olio Dome is so… so…so… much tastier and heavenly…

The House of Robert Timms is best known for their coffee but do you know they have revamped their desserts section since January? My previous visit here was a delightful encounter with kangaroo meat and this time round it’s all about boozy alcoholic sweets! Though XL-sized macarons are not novelties(they can be found at Au Chocolat), the version at Robert Tims boasts premium alcohol flavors($ 7 each) such as this Barcardi Gold & Kahlua(above) and the light brown-colored Black Daniel’s Whisky(see top picture)… I have found a cupcake that has more than enough cream to last me through the cake. Their Butterscotch & Caramel cupcake is brilliant as the butterscotch topping is not the typical buttercream but more like a ganache-hybrid drizzled with ooey-gooey caramel. It is rich, velvety with intense hints of cappuccino.

A newly opened café at Wheelock Place. The café isn’t new to me as I have been to the café at the other stores. It is a place where you will want to enjoy a cup of coffee with some dessert or main dish. The café also provided all day brunch set which will surely attract people who are into brunch. What makes it even more special is that every cup of coffee will have art design consists of pouring steamed milk generating a design on the surface. Normally people get a picture«rosetta» on the surface but on special request or when the barista is feeling artistic, you can expect to get pictures like bears, lion and etc. Very interesting and adds another level to drinking coffee. I am not a coffee addicts but I ordered their coffee sometimes for the sake of it. Besides the wide drinks selection, I must also mention the food and dessert. The portions are bigger than normal restaurants and looks irresistable. Furthermore, the service are professional where they will try to provide the best they can offer if there are special requests. The shop close at 3am which serves as a very good place after shopping around the area.
