Great value for money. Soups are deliciously healthful and do not leave you thirsty from the MSG. My go-to food are usually: The Samsui Chicken with extra extra ginger sauce(LOVEITSOMUCH I CANEATTHESAUCEBYITSELF). Sliced San Yu fish Homemade Beggar Tofu topped with minced meat and Black Olive Rice *MUSTTRY*(apparently I was told by my friend who came from Guangzhou that Olive Rice aids weight loss and it tastes really great too!) In conclusion the foods are mild, it is good for people who doesn’t like spicy food. The prices are reasonable as well.

This is a review of a lunch with a colleague at Soup Restaurant in Tampines Mall. The ambiance of Soup is very ornate. It almost has the ability to transport you to another time and place. They were certainly not shy in allowing the Chinese influence to shine through. The service was professional and efficient. It was not what I would call overly warm or friendly but it was polite. The food came out in a very timely manner. The food was very good. Samsui Ginger Chicken — I do not know if this is their signature dish but it is featured prominently in their menu and it seems that everyone orders it. The chicken was tender and flavourful The ginger sauce was out of this world. I realize I may be speaking heresy and I am allowing my western aesthetic to shine through but I can’t help but think this dish would be better if the chicken was served hot instead of cold. The heat from the chicken would bring out even more flavour and fragrance from the ginger sauce. My colleague didn’t notice it but I kept running into a fish flavour. It was as if a fish sauce had been used or the chicken was cooked along side fish. At times this overpowered the delicate flavour of the chicken and clashed with the ginger sauce. Double Boiled Ling Zhi w Lean Pork Soup — The first thing I have to say about this soup is the broth was simply amazing. It was bold, deep, and rich. I am not sure how long you have to cook a stock to create a broth like that but the time is well spent. The pork had a very nice rich flavour but the texture was a little dry and coarse. Receipt(Lunch for 2 — $ 42.73) Overall — The food and ambiance are the stars of Soup Restaurant. The service is only there as a means to take your order and bring your food. I would not hesitate to return and try some of their other soups and dishes.

This was where I had my frist taste of their Samsui Chicken and I;ve never looked back since. I found that it tasted very much like good chicken rice chicken, if you know what I mean. The ginger was not too overpowering as well and I really like how the chicken and ginger goes so well together. The combination had a very delightful natural sweetness to it. Also worth trying are the steamed sun yu and steamed minced pork with salted egg. Perfect with a bowl of rice!

I love going to the restaurants in Century Square basement 1 because it seems to be frequently overlooked by the crowds and I therefore could enjoy a relatively peaceful dinner on most weekday evenings. Soup Restaurant is famous for its Samsui ginger chicken which you eat by wrapping a piece of chicken and a generous amount of ginger into a large lettuce. They also have very wholesome tasting soups and they even have details of how each soup is good for you on their menu. Just remember to not take the frog leg’s soup if you are pregnant. The service here is polite and quick — only problem I find is that the tables are placed too close together(a problem with many mid-ranged restaurants in Singapore) and there is a slight lack of personal space.
