Went to Putien for dinner to celebrate a birthday. Had simple dishes that were well made. The pork with fried buns was delicious. The peas were fresh and sweet. Wait was short. Be warned, some of the staff only speaks mandarin. For birthday treat they have«peach» buns that were complimentary. It takes 15 minutes to heat up so order in advance. They can do that before or after the meal.

Serving is really small for that kind of pricing, it’s really pissing… food quality is relatively good… they should learn how to serve more on the plate to be honest…

We went with Putien for a family dinner during the 2nd day of Chinese New Year since we were sure they were open. Since it was still Chinese New Year, they didn’t have everything on the ala carte menu so we went with the set menu. This meant there was lots of food for a better, if not inexpensive deal. It was a blur of food but as usual, there was the must-have Yu Sheng. If memory serves me right, we had fried chicken(good and moist but nothing special), braised tofu(this was a highlight for me as the sauce was very flavorful), steamed fish(fresh tasting), fried noodles plus others that I can’t recall now. Wait staff was pretty friendly although we had to flag them down to help prep the Yu Sheng.

Putien is one of the places I go for pretty delicious Chinese food. The menu has quite a good variety and they have different sizes so that it’d be good for sharing. Other than the few dishes that are already mentioned, like the Spinach with Salted Egg & Century Egg, Eggplant with pork floss and the fried bee hoon, I would also recommend the fried rice here. It is fragrant, flavorful and not too oily. Even my little nephews like it a lot. The restaurant is quite clean, creating a very comfortable for dining. The staff are also very attentive and friendly, being patient and giving us recommendations when we still seemed undecided when ordering. They also make good table arrangements for big families and family with little children, which I thought was a very nice and kind gesture.

A decent place for Chinese food, some of the dishes that I would recommend include the Homemade Beancurd(fresh and fragrant), Spinach with Salted Egg & Century Egg(very tasty with whole cloves of garlic and served in a rich stock), the deep fried Eggplant with pork floss(deliciously light the eggplant wasn’t oily at all — a real treat), and the fried bee hoon(the bee hoon was alot smoother and thinner than those usually served in other restaurants, and yet maintained a level of chewiness). The restaurant is clean and brightly lit with high ceilings — a very inviting atmosphere. The staff are also pleasant and efficient, but most of them speak only chinese.
