Fried mantou with the beef. The mantou is what makes it special, and you find yourself filling it up with the rather lackluster beef just so you can delight in the fried, sweet, sesame topped mantou. My friend is in love with the lor mee, though I thought the gravy base was a bit bland. Really great fresh chili sauce though! I could eat that sauce with anything. :) We had to queue up for twenty minutes or so on a weeknight, so I imagine it would be quite busy during the weekend. Affordable and decent Chinese food in the westside.

It’s a good place to go if you’re just looking for Chinese food at cheap prices. I’ve eaten at this place for a few times, I have always left the place wanting to try more of their food.
Best bits: Bee hoon, kong ba pao (there’s only lean meat though but the pork they use is really fresh and juicy), prawns cooked in beer– this I forgot its name on the menu.
Yes the place is a little squeezy and difficult to maneuver, but who walks around while having dinner in a restaurant… At least they have tables big enough for everyone to enjoy their dishes without being squished and truthfully contented with that. (:

This is another one of the many Chinese restaurants that can be found in the west.
We found Pu Tien in jurong point to be rather tightly packed, and there was simply a lack of space to maneuver. Being in such a tight space also made for a boisterous and noisy atmosphere, which was something that I didn’t fancy.
But on to the food, which was pretty good in my opinion. We ordered a variety of food such as stewed sweet potato noodle, which we found to be pleasantly springy and came with a wonderfully flavorful stock with lots of ingredients. Another dish that we ordered was the drunken cockles. The garlic and chili toppings went well with the small and bloody cockles, and I found this dish to be rather satisfying as well.
I think the restaurant might be worth a visit if you want a change from the usual crystal jade etc.
