I understand why it’s considered one of the best Italian restaurants in the world. I loved it. The ingredients are first quality and very well treated in the dishes. The burrata with prosciutto was excellent, the taste was awesome thanks to the ingredients. The butter lettuce salad also a must. We ordered several dishes of pasta, and all of them were perfectly cooked and the balance of flavors were excellent too. I’d love to live in Singapore only to come more frequently to this restaurant!

OK, Osteria Mozza is in a touristy location, and yes, it has the name of a celebrity chef, but after dining there 3 times, it has never failed to impress me with their approach and the wine experience is second to none. The menu is all classic Italian — Antipasti, primi, secondi, with the added insertion of a mozzarella bar. From the primi, the grilled octopus may be hard to pass up and if you order it, you will definitely enjoy it. But nothing seemed more sublime than a plate of speck and dates with a glass of barolo. Loved the fresh mozzarella with bacon, escarole and shallots. As for pasta, they are all quite good. If yo uwould like something heavier, the orecchiette with sausage will not disappoint, but the surprise winner was the Celery Root Cappellacci. Yes, it’s vegetarian, but the flavor and texture of the hand made pasta is truly amazing. As for the Secondi, the Tagliata is solid. Beef that is simply grilled, with arugula and balsamic. The duck was also quite good and is a more economical way to share for two. Finally, going back to the wine experience, it’s the best that I have had in Singapore. The wine list is amazing — over 50 pages in total with mostly Italian wines. As a big fan of barolos, the Sommelier has provided excellent recommendations on all 3 visits and has truly impressed me. I wish I could afford to come here more often, but for special occasions, Osteria Mozza delivers.

Osteria Mozza is a fancy Italian restaurant located in Marina Bay Sands. If you want high quality Italian food, definitely give Osteria Mozza a try. It’s expensive but it’s an upgrade from the usual Italian joints that you find in the U.S. Osteria Mozza is a whole other level. The service here was fantastic. I don’t usually care much for service but I wanted to note that they definitely went out of their way to make it a great evening. The sommelier was informative and super polite and wanted to make sure he was providing useful pairings. The servers were also super friendly and nice. We tried the tasting menu and it was great. The food made me appreciate high quality Italian food a lot more, and I wish all Italian food tasted like this. The theme was: butter, oil, and salt. But not overwhelming. Delicious! The wax bean nicoise was delicious. There was a slice of toasted bread topped with an egg. I don’t usually like soft or hardboiled eggs(read: not scrambled) but I thought the pairing went really well. The sauce they used on the nicoise was oily and salty and yummy. The farafelle pasta was extremely buttery and rich. I love pasta like this! The mushrooms they use were also a good match and I usually don’t like mushrooms due to their texture. The wagyu beef was good too although I got it medium, and I’m wondering if medium rare was a better choice. The flavors were good but not as mindblowing as I had hoped. I would consider coming back if I were in the area again. It’s pricey but it’s definitely worth checking out. It might make Italian food haters into converts!

Stern.

As a previous reviewer wrote, celebrity chefs and restaurants just don’t seem to work well. It’s like they feel they can rest on their laurels. I’m sure if Mario Batali was there it would be a different story but he’s not so it is what it is. 3 of us each had a different burrata and they were very good although 2 of us agreed in that we’d like the bread on the side rather than as an integral part of the dish. Pretty sure the restaurant doesn’t make their own cheese though so they don’t get points for that. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just not worth ordering pasta in a restaurant unless you are in a little family run restaurant in Italy where real Italians eat, otherwise you will just be disappointed with the somewhat soggy and over-cooked plate you are presented with. I had the Corzetti Stampati which was OK. My husband had the Tagliatelle which was OK and our friend had the Carbonara, also just OK, nothing to write home about for anyone. For desert I had an amazing piece of chocolate cake, can’t see it on their current online menu so can’t give you the name. It was very rich and delicious. We had good service and the sommelier seemed to know his stuff. One thing we did find annoying, and I know that’s just how it is in higher-end restaurants, was the use of so many words in the menu that your average person doesn’t know. I hate having to Google half the menu. I’m quite surprised that this is number 47 on S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna’s list of the 50 top restaurants in Asia. I’ve probably had a more satisfying meal at Chomp Chomp in Serangoon Gardens…

If your wallet’s feeling a bit too heavy, this is a great place to shed some cash! Osteria Mozza ticks all the checkboxes for a fancy night out: — Located in Marina Bay Sands — Has Mario Batali’s name on it — Dishes starting at $ 20 — Has dim lighting, presumably to keep the electric bill down so diners won’t have to pay for it True to it’s name, they have a focus on fresh mozzarella cheese along with a really heavy wine list. Literally heavy. The binder was probably a half inch thick and filled to the brim with tons of expensive bottles. Service was very good; the servers seemed knowledgable about the wine list and were able to competently respond to questions about the dishes. We had a late dinner, and there was a noticeable gap between the serving of our appetizers and main courses. Thankfully, the appetizers were good enough to hold us over. Not sure if the gap was because the kitchen was making our fresh pastas… not outside the realm of possibility for this place. The food itself was amazing. I’m a cheese lover, so mixing it with bacon, or pesto, or capsicum sauce, or kalamata olives paired with some yummy bread made me quite the happy camper. I also enjoyed my tagliatelle with oxtail ragu. The meat melted in my mouth, so good! Only unfortunate thing is that due to the dim lighting, all my food pictures suck. Ah well!

For some reason celebrity chef restaurants just don’t hit the mark. I supposed we set too high expectation and was disappointed. Food taste was not bad but just did not wow. For the appetizer seems like they are using the same base of vegetable but a switched on main ingredient. The iberico pork was ok but somehow did not give me a lasting memory as oppose to what I had at Bascilico. Wifey had the duck leg yet again it was alright and nothing much to rave about. Boy had the pasta and could not finish. One thing that was up to expectation was the price :).

I would give this place a solid four stars, but had to deduct half a star to 3.5 stars because they actually used one of my sister’s desserts(part of her tasting menu) as my birthday treat, without her consent. –_– If we are shedding a few hundred bucks for dinner, shouldn’t you at least offer a free piece of cake or don’t offer anything at all! Okay, enough of my ranting. The burrata with tomatoes and pesto was pretty good. The burrata doesn’t taste super fresh, but tje sweet tomatoes made up for it. My spaghetti calabresa was really delicious, with the pasta al dente, and the sauce a mix of lemon, spice and touch of tomato sauce, with white anchovies. My whole roasted seabream was equally amazing, the fish meat tender and flavorful with stuffed fresh herbs in it, very simple and well-balanced. The pici with duck ragu was equally orgasmi, made with fresh corn pici and very well-seasoned duck ragu(they added a hint of lemon to take away some of the heaviness). In all, service was good, except for the booboo they made at the end of the meal. Will be back, but definitely not to celebrate my bday there ever again.

I haven’t really had good Italian food after relocating to Singapore, and it is one of my favourite cuisines. My recent visit to Osteria Mozza changed that. Well, price being another matter. A friend from HK is visiting and specifically requested dinner at Osteria Mozza. Apparently it left a very positive impression. It was also highly recommended by a number of other friends so I decided to give it a go last sunday night. The décor is surprisingly down-to-earth, resembling a a family style American Italian restaurant, which comes as a comfort as the overall design of the MBS always makes me squirm a little bit. Very casual and relaxing. Service is attentive and friendly and not overly pushy. Relying mostly on our server’s recommendation, we ordered the following between the 2 of us: 2 antipasti — burrata with grilled asparagus, guanciale, brown butter and almonds and grilled octopus; 2 primi — celery root cappellacci and the bucantini amatriciana and for the main, we shared the grilled sea bream, followed by the pannacotta. The portions are on the large side and even with the half portions for the 2 pasta dishes, we were stuffed. Consistent with all the reviews I got, food is of very good quality. My favorite of the evening is the burrata with asparagus and the celery cappellacci. I can see from other reviews that their burrata is a favorite among diners. For me, the combination of the ingredients is perfect — the richness and creaminess of the burrata against the freshness and crunchiness of the asparagus, topped withe the aromatic flavor of the roasted almonds. The celery cappellacci was divine — and I don’t even like celery. Its delicate and subtle flavor suggests great craftsmanship/technique. The other dishes, while good, left less of an impression compared to these 2. The bucantini has a very interesting texture(although I don’t really like the sauce as it’s heavy but lacks the freshness of the celery cappellacci) so I am looking forward to trying their other pasta. Really great recommendations from our server. Now the price — well the damage came to 260(without any alcohol and only half portions of pasta). Not cheap at all, but I think it’s a worthwhile indulgence for a special occasion, especially if you are likely to be a long way from Italy for an extended period of time. Just save your buck and avoid all the sub-standard Italian restaurant around town. Trust me, you get more satisfaction going for a bowl of yong tofu at the local hawker store.

Phenomenal burrata! We weren’t even supposed to eat there because the main meal came later but I just couldn’t resist. Having been to the LA branch, I have to say the quality of Osteria Mozza is quite consistent, being the food, service, or ambiance. I actually enjoy the MBS branch a little more because you couldn’t just walk in and expect a table in LA. Well in exchange you’re paying(quite) the extra Sing dollar. The waiter was very kind and enthusiastic to give us his recommendation. We told him that we were just snacking which he understood and was not pushy in any way. I am so blown away by the«Pane Pomodoro with burrata, coppa & pickled shallots» — simply THE perfect combination of sweet shallots and salty coppa and melt-in-your-mouth burrata on a crunchy piece of pane bread.(I really can finish a plate on my own — or two). Clam pasta was not too bad either and I like that they offer small and big portion sizes. No doubt I will definitely come back to try out other dishes.

walked in on a sunday evening to a packed restaurant. service was relaxed, well paced and friendly. only request was for no pork throughout the meal, they might have forgotten on the appetizer but the mains were fine. ordered 1 burrata, 3 pastas & a chocolate cake for dessert. the foccacia was superb and warm sharing plates are presented before your food is served. definitely worth the price & can’t wait to come back!

This was close to being a great meal. Obviously between the Batali/Bastianich brand and Marina Bay Sands location, the food is expensive. It didn’t quite live up to the prices in my opinion. The service is probably the best part of the meal. I had the ribollita, bucatini all’amatriciana, and garganelli bolognese. This and a sparkling water cost $ 96. The ribollita is quite different from the version in Florence in that here they pan fry it so both the top and bottoms are charred and there is not much liquid left. It was more like a pâté, and the server had warned me as such when I had referred to it as «the soup». It still tasted good, but it was kind of weird. The bucatini was oddly undercooked or burnt in a couple spots, like they had tossed the pasta in a pan and some of the pasta was on the flame. The sauce was also a little too crusty, like they had simmered the tomatoes about a day too long. It was well seasoned though, and they obviously used real guanciale, which I have never even seen in Singapore. The bolognese was the high point. It seemed very authentic and similar to the one I had in Bologna, which means that it was mostly chunks of meat. If I go again, I would get an appetizer, one of the«primo» size pasta dishes, and then a dessert. Two pastas was excessive. The server said the pasta was a little bigger than the size of her fist, but she may have overestimated the size of her fist. They also brought to the table a book by Joe Bastianich as I was waiting for my food because I was alone. The dust jacket made it sound like he single-handedly built an empire from the ground, and I don’t think it mentioned that his mother is one of the better Italian American celebrity chefs and restauranteurs around:

Good food, but absolutely, terrifyingly expensive. In general, quality ingredients, good execution especially for certain dishes such as the Iberico Pork Chop and Cappellacci with Bluefoot mushrooms. The other dishes were otherwise average and run-of-the-mill. Don’t expect«real italian» dishes, consider them«italian inspired». Oddly, for dessert I ordered the Budino, which by definition should be custard or pudding. But I got a concoction that looked and tasted closer to a lava cake. Good, but definitely not a budino, so why call it one? Service is overall attentive and professional. Despite both persons not exactly meeting the dress code(t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops), they let us in. I appreciate that they weren’t snooty about that. The final price was a relatively high 3 digit number in SGD for 3 courses each for two people with no alcoholic beverages involved. This would have cost closer to half that price at a good restaurant with similar food quality in LA or San Diego. Good food but in Singapore’s competitive dining landscape, may not be not worth the number of dollars you part with. Your wallet will tremble in fear.

Went to OM for the 3rd time and ordered the iberia pork chop again. It was heavenly and I can’t try anything else there. We had the clam pasta for starter and it was too salty. After the fulfilling dinner we ordered the desert, can’t remember the name but its basically chocolate lava cake with ice cream. It was very good, definitely two thumbs up.

Our favorite. With many fails of italian joints in Singapore, Osteria mozza easily wins the top spot. The quality and taste is up to par with the joint in LA, with an exception of their teeny-tiny portion if you order a-la-carte. Otherwise, this place is a winner in my book. The sommelier is awesome and recommended us some of the best reasonably-priced wines to match with our dishes. Get the Chef’s menu here– it changes each time we’re back but every dish is a fun, delectable surprise. The price is pretty reasonable at around $ 150 to 175 per person for a course meal. a win.

Just got home from ANOTHER awesome dinner at Osteria Mozza, and I’m glad to say that things haven’t changed after being ranked as among the top 50 restaurants in Asia in the San Pel rankings. Went with a fairly large group this time, so we ordered plenty of things, new and old. There’s a new starter on the menu, warm dates with speck. Apparently Chef David was at the LA branch over the last few weeks, tried this there, and decided he HAD to have it on the menu. Boy do I agree. The sweetness of the dates are offset by molten sea salt and the speck, and it’s just such a delicious combination. Octopus was as good as ever, and so was the brown-butter ravioli. Something else that isn’t always on the menu was the Zuppa di Pesce. A little disappointing to be honest, the broth was a wee bit on the fishy side, but the seafood in it was definitely delicious. Have you had fish with crispy skin IN a fish soup? No, I haven’t either, and it was quite impressive. No wait. I suppose I have with it comes to Yu Pian Mi Fen but that doesn’t count. I also tried the lamb and mint tagliatelle. It was really good. The mint added a very interesting dimension to the dish, and I’d happily order it again and again. We managed to order a staggering 6 desserts, and while most were good, the favourites at the table were the… uhhh. I’ve gotten the name, but it was Cannelloni shells stuffed with rice and cream, served with a banana ice cream. Awesome. The other was my long time favourite, olive and rosemary cakes served with olive oil ice cream. Sweet. Salty. Savoury. Delicious. Mozza also has a new list of Aperitifs and quite frankly, most of the ones I tried were pretty impressive. I had one with Bournon and cloudy apple juice with… thyme I think? Deliciously refreshing, and the Brown-butter rum with sugar was also very very pleasant. Almost like a glass of alcoholic butter scotch. Ah Mozza. Hits the spot every time.

It’s like the chant when A-Rod comes to bat«Overrated» «Overrated» Yeah, in case you didn’t get it. This place is not as good as it may seem. I’ve been to top Italian joints in L.A. and the world and since i hadn’t been to Osteria Mozza in L.A. I decided to give it a go while in Singapore. I had the endive salad to start and boy was that unforgettable. I won’t soon forget spending over $ 15 on a disgusting salad with a sour and sweet taste that had no redeeming qualities. Pass. The only positive part of my meal was the next part. The pasta i had, I can’t recall what it was called but it was perfect. Filled and fresh it was one of the best pastas I’ve had. The portion however was very small and the service in getting it was quite bad. I had to request to get my water filled a few times and between my two courses I waited 20 minutes, despite dining alone. Yeah, a little crazy considering the restaurant wasn’t that full. The service was impersonal and overall I won’t be back. I may consider giving Pizzeria Mozza a go but for Osteria, I won’t ever be back to the Singapore location, but I’ll consider giving the L.A. location a go if I’m invited there with friends.

That was a gap in expectations for me. I was hungry, it was getting close to 11, so I went into this place that looked very nice ms very much my style. It wasn’t until I looked at the menu that i realized it was too late to go elsewhere. I don’t mind spending money on luxuries. I do it all the time. And food is one of them. But I draw the line quite before the level of this place. After having paid $ 25 for a drink on the rooftop, I wasn’t exactly looking to blow more unreasonably. Least expensive wine was $ 18. Ok. Then I ordered pasta for $ 28. They served it the way pasta was meant to be served when all you will do is look at it, take a photo and go eat elsewhere. Putting the 3 pasta bites on a giant plate didn’t help. Yes it tasted very good. With 2 breads I walked out paying $ 80 and still starving. So I guess it was my fault for being in a hurry and not researching the place first. I’m sure they have some fancy. Lesson learned for me.
