Don’t go to this place if you expect good service or even good food. Staff are one of the worst I have ever seen in any service industry and the food is not much better. The only reason I don’t give them 1 Star is because of cheap prices.

Nihon Mura has now moved to #03−03 and has changed to nihon mura express! So all their items are priced at $ 1.60++ I love sushi and unfortunately I can’t really distinguish good from bad sushi. So $ 1.60++ sushi tastes good to me :) It has quite a decent sized dining room compared to the cathay outlet. My only complaint about their ipad ordering system is that I can’t make any special order ie. No cucumber or no mayonnaise. But food gets served to you rather quickly by ordering via the iPad :)

Go there for their lunch set menus — relatively cheap for a 3 item set at around $ 11 all in — my set consisted of Tempura Ebi Curry Rice, Agedashi Tofu and a scoop of ice cream and a drink. Food is relatively simple — you get quite a lot of decent food at a cheap price. If you’re here for the a-la-carte, it’s also quite a lot cheaper than your Sushi Teis and the likes, with a whole range of items available for the picking(you order a food item by picking up its corresponding ice cream stick, collect them in a little basket and pay for it). Chawanmushi for less than $ 2? Bring it on!

This outlet is located in a rather inconvenient location of Kallang Leisure Park, which is not exactly near to the train station either. And the restaurant being in an obscure corner of the top floor, I had thought the place would be deserted. Wrong on this count. Due to its low price point and proximity to the skating rink, the bulk of the clientele is made up of students. The range is wide, but quality is so-so at best. It’s passable if you don’t nitpick, but you won’t be finding fantastic fare here. We ordered up a table full of food and only the agadeshi tofu made an impression because it was decently done. Servers are ok, rather attentive in topping up our drinks, and the décor is on the tacky side with fake bamboo.

Not many would know of this branch of Nihon Mura(or Japanese Village) tucked away in a neighborhood sports stadium in the western most part of Singapore, in Pioneer. But if you do stay around the area, I’m sure you’ve headed there for a meal at least once before, since it is only a short walk away from the various HDB estates surrounding it. The restaurant is located on the 4th floor overlooking the running track of the stadium, and is usually only crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. There are both the buffet and ala carte options, and they have 2 ways of ordering food as well. Their sushi plates are placed on revolving conveyor belts that go around a display counter in the centre of the restaurant, as well as ‘cook to order’ dishes that you order by taking an ice cream stick with the dish name and number on it, and putting it in cup that has your table number on it, the passing it to the wait staff. Food is served quickly, but my grip is that their dishes are usually drier than usual, and their selection of available sushi is far less than those available at competing stores.
