Next is definitely overrated IMO. I was so psyched to get my hair done there due to a lot of good reviews during my holiday in Singapore. Had the haircut with Dawson n coloring by Olivia. I don’t mind being charged an arm and a leg for great hairdo; my salon visits in the states always cost about $ 350 without tips. I also like to do my hair whenever I am on international trips n this one by far is the worst among all. First off, they don’t listen to what the customer wants (esp Dawson) and he just did what he wanna do. I mean seriously? This is my hair! I requested the haircut to be a little bit shorter than what he did and I was told the one he did looked so much better on me. He seriously needs to attend a class teaching him how to listen to clients. The hair color Olivia did on me was pretty basic as well it was a medium brown color which you can easily attain with a box dye from a drugstore. I feel so ripped off paying s$ 488 for an average haircut n color yuck! They basically charge u a lot for salon location, not for the quality of services. I’m definitely not going back there and I suggest u to think twice abt going if ur new.

My first visit to Next was actually at their Holland Village outlet because I was staying on campus and it was a much more convenient location. I had always been intrigued by the décor — ornate black furnishings replete with plush leather padded walls. My stylist (I can’t remember her name) was good and when she told me that I can always swing by to trim my fringe for free before my next proper cut, I was sold.
Nowadays, I usually head to ION branch for my haircuts. The salon is really spacious and sometimes I wonder why I need to make an appointment if there are so many tables still available? Other than that, impeccable service as usual — the head massage they give during your hairwash… god, I may actually consider paying for that everyday. The stylists here are really reliable, I have never (god forbid) gotten a bad haircut. A little on the pricey side but totally worth not having to leave the salon feeling despondent.

Convenient location, reliable technique and good service are reasons why I keep coming back to Next at ION. Even though I don’t stick to a particular hair stylist, I’ve never had a bad haircut here in my life. I know I’m in good hands when I enter Next. A service that I really appreciate is the free fringe cut when you’re a regular customer — useful when you are maintaining a short fringe that needs a trim every month or so. The hair washes are usually done by trainees but I haven’t found anything to complain about.
Make sure you make an appointment in advance as they are usually busy!
