So I note that all the other reviews for this establishment are circa August-September 2012. This is a period one could describe as Mink’s heyday. I remember it fondly. I had only recently arrived in Singapore and Mink was one of the hot spots. Given that the Singapore nightlife circuit generally lacks hotspots, Filter was on its way out and Mink was the place to be along with Pangaea. Such a fickle market the nightclub market is, though. Not even 18 months later and this club seems to be heading down the tubes. A recent visit on a Wednesday night showed the club to be surprisingly full… of what looked like 18 year olds. Now a full club is a good and successful club, right? Not so. 18 year olds can’t usually afford tables and bottle service. I was informed by a friend that lounge tables were going for $ 600 min. spend that night. Basically a very low figure for a couch. When Mink was packing them in, you had to spend $ 1000 just to get a corner of a standing table. There are clubs in Singapore that cater to 18 year olds, namely Butter Factory & Zouk. These clubs have ample bars where you can actually get service. Mink is just not set up that way. The bar is small, the bartenders are aloof and the whole place revolves around bottle service. So this is a very unfortunate turn for Mink indeed. Maybe their new club Fenix is cannibalising their clientele. Or maybe this is their strategy: churn & burn. Whatever it is, Mink is now being relegated down the order in the Singapore nightlife stakes. Side-note: the super unfriendly door policy is still there. Nowhere in Singapore are the door bitches less friendly or more annoying. And same goes for the bouncers inside the club. I judge an establishment by how polite and professional the staff are. Take Pangaea as a good example of a club which tries to create an air of exclusivity but still provides competent and reasonable service. Maybe that’s why it’s had that much more longevity than Mink.

The crowd here is more international and less pretentious compared to the other more popular clubbing venues. What I like about it is that you can start your night at Royal Room, which is free entry before progressing on to Mink. Royal Room because you can bring your drinks out and smoke at the same time, while checking out the crowd gathered outside. Mink is the more serious party area and you’ll always see girls and guys alike dancing on the couches. The prices of the drinks here are pretty decent and not overtly higher, unlike some places. A great place to have a good night of partying.

I love Mink. It’s probably my favourite place to party at in Singapore. The crowd is good looking, and music is awesome. It does tend to get quite crowded though, but once you’re inside, thinks are AOK. Dancing on the tables, in between swigging from bottles makes Mink a terribly fun place. To avoid the crazy queues, my advice is to show up at 4 am when things are still terribly fun but slightly quieter. Don’t worry though. The club usually closes at 5 or 6 in the morning, which means you’ll still have enough time to dance your butt off.

One of the most popular clubs to hit the local clubbing scene, Mink was originally conceived as a more female orientated club, but somehow ended up being so popular that it overtook the Butter Factory as the place to be seen at. Entry is a very long-winded process, no thanks to the immense queues that snake all the way out to the main road. A good way to begin your night would be to get in to Royal Room, which is connected to Mink first and have a couple of drinks to kill time while the queue lessens. With some of the world’s best DJs spinning and an eclectic crowd of professionals, models and debutantes, all clamouring to be seen, Mink is definitely an enjoyable night out with the right group of party animals.

MINK is the sister club to bars Royal Room and Filter. It differs from the other two in that it focuses on Las Vegas inspired house/electro Music sound pioneered by Avicii, The Swedish House Mafia, & Kaskade. Love the music here although it can get mad crowded!
