I’m giving Lot, Stock & Barrel five stars because I told the owner, Pauline, that I would. When she came by our table tonight, I told her that her name was mentioned in a Unilocal review. She had no idea what Unilocal is, so I showed her the 2 reviews from Rachael and Ai Lin, which she read with interest on my phone.
I found out that she used to work for an American multinational for many years, and then opened this pub about 20 years ago. Since opening day, the price of a pint has only increased by SGD2.00, to SGD10.00. She said she keeps her prices low so that all the people who work in the expensive shops and restaurants nearby have a place to hang out and have an affordable drink. That deserves five stars.

This is definitely not the coolest nor the most well thought out bar in the area, but it’s one that, nevertheless, has been added to my list of regular haunts.
You come here to hang out, enjoy beer at fantastic prices and have good conversation, not to watch and be seen. It’s simple and casual, to the point where no food is actually served because they have no kitchen, but they help you order in from a nearby coffeeshop instead.
The owner, Pauline, is a great personality and she’s always around for a quick chit chat. You’ll notice the wall-​sized painting of her with a tiger in the back by the pool table, which could be construed as somewhat tacky, but that’s the kind of laid-​back, non-​judgemental place this is.

Forget exclusivity and hoity-​toity behavior at up-​market bars and head to Lot, Stock & Barrel for a good dose of booze and conversation without pretension. Tucked right next to the Mint Museum of toys, this place has a casual and laid-​back atmosphere that will put you right at home. Play a game of pool or darts or just sit back and watch the game that is playing on the television. This pub serves a great selection of beer at very reasonable prices. Service deserves a mention too — staff is always friendly and ready for a chat or to just make sure your needs are well taken care of.
