Busy place around the corner from our hotel. Service was meh, and the chicken rice was good. But I’ve had better. Even in the States, I’ve had better. So, I was a little disappointed by the chicken I was served. That’s not to try and take away from my experience — I was happy with my meal, I was just hoping for better, I guess.

Ahhhh great chicken rice. Get it regular or you can get it roasted. Delicious! This place is located across from raffles and I think there is 2 in that area, this being the original the other is a fusion type.

They seem to give more priority to tourists more than the locals. Horrible service. Inattentive staff. You’d think that the food standard would make up for it but no.

This is one of the best chicken rice place in Singapore. They are very close to City Hall MRT station. We usually get the basic chicken rice dish with rice and soup. The chicken rice is very tasty with a lot of flavor. I also like the quiet side street it is situated in. We usually also grab a cocktail at long bar in Raffles hotel after this meal.

Walked all the way from Orchard Link to Sin Swee Kee to have the famous Hainanese Chicken Rice! The chicken came with rice, tiny bits of vegetables, and a bowl of soup(only 4.5SGD). The rice was very flavorful and tasty, however the chicken breast was too dry. Highly recommend to order the chicken thigh rice! The restaurant is simple, in a small street.

Ate here last night after checking in to the Naumi hotel 30 metres away. Just what I needed on my first night back in Singapore. Good honest fried rice, pork, chicken, tofu and steamed greens with chilli. Friendly service and local prices. Nice bars around if people want some refreshments first.

Recommend by a local colleague. $ 7 for the set lunch for one. Be careful there are two laces with similar names n this street behind raffles hotel. This is roughly midway down the street. Check out my two pics — lunch set included soup(more a tasty but just-liquid broth, boiled or roasted chicken, a veg, and a drink. I didn’t you could pick a different drink — I would recommend to do that — maybe lemon.

«Florence, you have to try Hainanese Chicken Rice when you go to Singapore!», said many. Thus, Hainanese Chicken Rice rose to the top of my list of things to try(eat) during my(very) short stay in Singapore. Not much time to search Unilocal,a lack of knowledge of where I would be in Singapore, and absurdly slow internet the few days prior to when I would be there, led me to just following the crowd to where we would eat chicken rice. Sin Swee Kee is where I ended up. When I first walked in, I noticed it was VERY busy. It was lunch time, and it seemed like a lot of the patrons were businessmen/women on their lunch breaks. Busy is a good thing, so they must have VERY good chicken rice. Lots of locals, so their chicken rice must be good. My logic doesn’t ever seem to fail me! Or so I thought. Our meal started off with the iced barley drink, which was probably the best thing I ingested in this restaurant. My parents told me to drink it all because it was good for you. Why, you don’t have to tell me! It’s delicious, I’ll easily finish this up! We had a bigger party, so we ordered everything family style. We each had a plate of rice, the signature rice that is served with the Hainanese Chicken Dish. This, I thought definitely lacked the flavor and aroma of what chicken rice should have. We tried both styles of chicken, the roasted and steamed, and while they were both juicy, the taste of old-frozen chicken was just too overwhelming. Together, it just led to a mediocre dish. Now, I’ve only had Hainanese Chicken Rice twice prior to my meal here. The first one was a few years ago when my dad attempted this dish, and the second was the day before at Universal Studios Singapore. Universal Studio’s overpriced theme-park quality food was almost just as good as the chicken rice from Sin Swee Kee. For my dad’s first time trying Hainanese Chicken Rice a few years ago, I remember that being WAYY better than what I was served here. Besides the main chicken rice dish, our party had a few side dishes to go along with our meal. That included the Aust lettuce, sweet and sour pork, tofu with eggplant, and boiled bean sprouts. Honestly I enjoyed eating the side dishes more than I enjoyed eating the chicken. I guess I’ll have to return to Singapore to find a much better place that serves a whopping Hainanese Chicken Rice!

This place has pretty good chicken and rice. I didn’t really get to try any other places but it’s better than home. It seem to get crowded and locals were here for lunch. I also ordered a tofu and eggplant dish. For the chicken and rice, I got the special that included the broth and veggies.

I ate at Sin Swee Kee on a regular basis, probably monthly, for the three and a half years I lived in Singapore. It was not only perfectly placed between my husband’s and my offices but also it has a fantastic chili and is really one of the best chicken rice places around. Between the two of us we polished off a half boiled chicken, rice and broth, kai lan, and sometimes the fried tofu or eggplant. One of the deal makers for me was that you can opt for only breast meat for a slightly higher price: more meat, fewer bones. The service was always quick and polite. Can’t wait to go back for a visit and some chicken rice.

Claimed to have one of the best chicken rice in Singapore, I had to try Sin Swee Kee Chicken Rice for myself to believe the rumors. At a very central and convenient location at Seah Street, just a stone throw away from City Hall MRT Station, it was easy to locate the place. There are also many parking lots along the side of the lot, making it easy for working individuals to do take away or have quick lunches. Although not meeting the standard of having the best chicken rice in Singapore, it was still pretty satisfactory, definitely better than the chicken rice served at hawker centers or food courts. The chicken was tender and juicy, the sauce was tasty and the chili sauce was appetizing. The only problem I had was that the rice was a bit too plain and lacked flavor. I ordered a cup of homemade iced barley to go with the chicken rice, and it was pleasantly refreshing. The service here is average though, but they do their job.

Is it strange that I eat at a chicken rice place for their steam egg(with bits of century egg and salted egg) rather than their chicken? Nothing wrong with their chicken rice, mind you, but there is plenty to eat if you’re not into chicken rice. Set meals come with sides of vegetable, fried Thai tofu, etc, depending on how many people you’re ordering for. They also have ayam bakar style meals, though really I’ve only ever seen people eat chicken rice!

We were in the Seah Street area and was actually trying to decide between Yet Con and Chin Chin to satisfy our chicken rice craving, but we happened to chance upon Sin Swee Kee en route so thought we’d check it out. Food: Sin Swee Kee does a pretty mean version of roast chicken … soft and tender, quite tasty and not too dry. My gripe with most places that do roast chicken is that they tend to over roast it resulting in a dry fowl but Sin Swee Kee’s was rather good. The rice too was quite good, not too dry or too oily. Not as fragrant as we would have liked but tasty enough. Soup was also quite tasty. Ambience: Spiffed up kopi-tiam with air conditioning option. Decent. Service: Quite good, staffed by friendly PRC wait staff. Only complaint was the price … it was a bit steep at $ 5 per serving.
