Came here with a whole bunch of relatives flying in from Hong Kong and they all loved the food. Great place to introduce any visiting friends to some«famous Singaporean chicken rice» without having to wait in line and sweat it out at Tian Tian’s Maxwell location.

This Tian Tian Chicken Rice is a franchise of the exact same famous stall at Maxwell Food Center, so the people living in the east are up for a treat! This stall is located along a row of shophouse restaurants near Simpang Bedok. Just like the chicken rice served at Maxwell, the rice was fragrant and flavorsome. The chicken was tender, and covered in a homemade sauce with hints of soya sauce and sesame oil. I tried eating the chicken like I was advised to — with their chili sauce and ginger — and it tasted so much better. The chili sauce made the chicken rice seem more appetizing, and can be possibly the best chili sauce I’ve tasted with chicken rice. The service was average though, as the staff seemed pretty impersonal. It was as if they were just doing their job of taking orders and serving, and lacked the warmth that the restaurant requires.

Name brand chicken rice in the east — and it isn’t even expensive! I’ve been here a couple times, and had both the white and the roast chicken. Thankfully, they’ve been pretty consistent, and the chicken’s always smooth, tender and moist. Now one of the highlights of Tian Tian is the rice. I am open with my bias, but any rice with that chicken-y fragrance, and when the grains are so easily separated, you know they’ve got that good coating of oil… healthy eating isn’t really a concern here eh? What makes Tian Tian so special — the highlight of highlights — for me is the gravy. You can pour it over your chicken, or your rice, and this gravy is ridiculously awesome! On my last visit here, I noticed a table with a bowl of macaroni soup. I asked about it, and apparently it costs only 80 cents. Now I’ve got something to go back for, even if its because my cheapo curious side wants to see what the macaroni is like.
