Great burgers! Service is okay only but location is good. Very close to the movie theatre at katong i12

This franchise of Fatboy’s falls into the category of yet another popular place with extraordinarily appalling service. We arrived at midday on a Sunday when there is a decent crowd of families and friends enjoying burgers and fries. If one were to focus only on the good in the world, I’d say the portions are good for the price, and the option to make your own burger is great. The fries(or chips, if you’re British) were acceptable, not great, and so was the gravy sauce, though it was on the skimpy side. The Caesar salad was a very fresh grilled chicken salad(with a little too much sauce but it’s an issue I have with many places serving salads). The mozzarella sticks were crispy but not melted enough and too thickly breaded. All in all, acceptable, not great so it’s hard to focus simply on the good. And now, the not-so-great bits that you’re here to read, I’m sure: Service was slow and we weren’t attended to after a long while. However, I did notice that other customers were served promptly; maybe they casually forgot about us. Our food arrived a long time later in two batches. The Philly cheese steak, disco fries and Mac and cheese arrived first, and my sister who had to go for class after lunch cheered when it arrived(around 45 minutes after ordering). The burgers and Caesar salad arrived a further half an hour to 45 minutes later after much prompting. By then, my sister had to leave before the rest of us had a chance to eat and couldn’t enjoy her meal with us. My burger didn’t arrive though. We questioned the waitress after awhile and was told that they’ve had forgotten about it. The guy, who I assume was the boss, came over and assured me it was his mistake and the burger was on the house. I chalked it down to being too busy and appreciated the gesture. After everyone else had finished eating, it still hadn’t arrived and we had to rush off elsewhere. I asked for it to be packed for takeaway if it was ready already(and apparently it was), and we got the bill. We were still charged for the burger. Maybe the waitress who gave us the bill had no idea about what he said, or maybe there was miscommunication somewhere, but this experience guarantees I’ll never suggest to go back, and probably won’t recommend it.

I agree with a few others in the sense that I do not understand why it is so popular. The burger was below average. The burger patty was completely devoid of any beef flavor. The interior was grimy and dirty. With the hefty price tag, avoid at all costs.

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of the Fatboy’s chain. I’m super happy that I get my own outlet near my new house! I’ve stopped by here for a takeaway lunch and ordered the Royale with cheese and a side order of onion rings, as the menu didn’t mention that it comes with fries. However, I was surprised with a side of fries given to me* so I’ll make a mental note next time that side orders aren’t needed. My burger was great– a thick patty topped with a sweet onion relish and BBQ sauce. The onion rings were to die for– they used red onions, and the batter had lots of herbs in it. Throw in the special dipping sauce and it was shiok(though admittedly, a bit too oily.) I ate this lovely meal around 2PM, and I ended up not eating dinner because it was that heavy. Funny enough, I ended up at Fatboy’s again later in the evening as the hubs needed to fuel up and it was one of the few kitchens on Joo Chiat Road serving substantial food past 9:30. The ambiance was lively, however the service was a bit off(we were waiting for our change for about 10 minutes and it turns out the server left our bill at another table.) But besides that, it’s a great neighbourhood place and I wouldn’t be surprised if I became a regular there. – *If you haven’t been reading my reviews as of late, I’ve learned that fries are not a given here in SG.

Not what I expected based on the reviews. Had a beef burger and was nowhere near impressed with the taste. My son, who eats almost everything, didn’t do well eating the food here. The service was great. The employees were friendly, attentive, and quick.

After two months in Singapore I had a real craving for a burger. Sadly, Fatboy’s was a HUGE disappointment. The service was very good but the food was frankly terrible, The fries were cold, over cooked and rock hard and all three burgers we ordered were RAW in the middle. Frankly, there was nothing about the meal that made me even consider going back.

One of my favorite burger joints in Singapore that’s quite affordable. Being able to customize, you can pick and choose whatever ingredient you want and the service is awesome. I love you guys! Why not 4 star? Need more side choices besides fries of weird tasting and small-portioned cole slaw. And better stuff on TV, lah!

I don’t get the hype? Okay, the place looks cool and its got a nice feel to it but the food is wrong. I hate to post another negative review of a restaurant but it seems to be increasingly hard to find good food — outside of hawkers. Restaurant owners try to cut the wrong corners and the food really suffers. I got the Royal with cheese and it was really bad. I don’t know how they are cooking the burgers but its NOT cooked like a burger. Anytime you have a perfectly round and clean looking patty, think«manufactured». The meat was warm on the outside and kinda cold on the inside. As for tastes, it was bland, mushy, and just yuk. I will bet anything that its mixed with bread crumbs or something like that. Then its pre-cooked, some funky way, and warmed up on order. I sat near the kitchen and had a good view of it. At no point did I hear anything like raw meat hitting a hot surface. I saw no smoke — nothing. Not just my order but for everything coming out of the kitchen. Real good burger joints don’t operate like that. You cannot cook good burgers without a hot grill or hot griddle. Those flavours and textures cannot be reproduced any another way. That is a fact and that is why good burgers are f-ing awesome. I also ordered the onion rings. Another big mistake. They were mushy on the inside and really brown on the outside. I think they double cook them as well because they came to the table in only a minute. You totally ruin good food this way. So why am I so upset about pre-cooked food? Because I specifically asked if they did this. They said no, everything is cooked to order. Why pay such high prices for something that Carl’s Jr or BK can make better?

Sorry. Just does not cut it for me. Not really a burger when you mixed the patty with breadcrumbs and other nonsense. It should be 100% meat.

I have gave them a second chance but I ended up being disappointed both time(customer service is good though, in term of Horrible Singapore standard) Tiny burgers, poor choice of salad inside them(just cheap lettuce and tomatoes like dishes served by western strolls at hawker centers) etc. I had a jerk sauce burger second time but I don’t even know what kinda sauce they are using, Burger King Wopper and Wendy’s ¼ pound burger is much better! I won’t go back,

This is a review of lunch with a colleague at Fat Boy’s. The place has a feel of a casual pub feel. There is something uniquely American about the ambiance. The service was very friendly and efficient. The food came out quickly. The food was good but really didn’t make it beyond that. Their focus is on burgers but they also serve pub style appetizers. Chocolate shake and a lime juice — I doubled up on beverages, tripled up if you include the glass of water. The shake was decent. However, it was not a Pulp Fiction style make swoon shake. The lime juice was a touch overly bitter. Royale w Cheese(The classic Cheese burger with our hand crafted beef patty, aged cheddar cheese and smothered with BBQ sauce & onion marmalde on a sesame seed bun.) — This was an ok burger. it doesn’t come close to making into the pantheon of great burgers. I wish I had noticed the sign that said they default to cooking their burgers medium well. Plus, their medium well was really a well-done. It is hard for me to take any burger that is overcooked seriously. That being said, I didn’t really enjoy the flavour of the meat and though the onion marmalade was overly sweet. The Stiffee Foot-Long Hot Dog — This is a chili dog. I also had cheese and added lot of mustard and ketchup. This is a big dog. It is a fork and knife dog. I much prefered this to their burger. The hot dog had a smokiness to it that I liked. While a bit too almost out of a can, I did like the chili. This is the kind of dog that brings a smile to my face when it lands in front of me. Fries — Both the burger and the dog came with fries. These were very average fries. I don’t get it. Why don’t restaurants step up an d take the extra step and make their own fries? They were also very stingy with the portion. Come on, fries aren’t that expensive. Luckily, for me, I had two portions. Wimpy Burger(Single patty, chewy bacon, cheddar cheese, a fried egg and homemade Fatboy’s sauce on a sesame bun.) — My colleague ordered the Wimpy burger. This is a kitchen sink burger. it looked like a more tasty burger than my Royale w Cheese. If I had not been doubling up with a dog and a burger, I would have gone for this one. (no photo) Receipt(Lunch for 2 — $ 42.50) Considering we both had shakes and I ordered two mains, I think the price was reasonable. Overall — I think it would be a nice place to have some drinks. I would not really go back for the burgers. They were just not my cup of tea. I would have their hot dog again though. Fatboy’s has a nice laid back feel and the staff is super friendly.

Many burger choices on menu, or if nothing catches your eye, you can even customise your own burger. Meat selection: beef, pork, lamb. Spoilt for choice! Had the Wimpy with beef patty and one sunny-side-up inside. The menu stated that they cook their burger medium well, so I told the waitress I wanted mine medium rare with the patty charred on the outside. Maybe the patty is too thin to do it medium rare. It came out thoroughly cooked with no redness at all. The patty is coarsely chopped(I like), but the seasoning was a little too savoury for me(over-seasoned?). It almost came across as too salty. Black sesame bun is nice and fluffy. Fried egg is a nice touch. And the homemade BBQ sauce is great. But sadly, the patty is not good enough. It is served with a side of chunky fries which didn’t look oily(good). But I am a shoe-string fries person, so I didn’t quite like the fries. Hoegaarden and stella draft is $ 10 per pint after 10pm. Good deal and it is served ice cold.

Really nice place with cheap pints of beer and great burgers! Many interesting varieties in addition to your standard cheeseburger(Wimpy or Fat Basterd) such as the Bushtucker and the Elvis(a pork patty with pineapple and peanut butter, if I remember correctly). If I had a nit to pick it would be that my Fat Basterd was not as obese as I would have liked it to be. It is probably just me though. My friend who ordered the Fat Basterd as well required my help in conquering the burger. Service is pretty good, they do take the time to explain the choices you see on the menu. Although it must be noted that in my previous visit, another waitress seemed abit blur as to how much the beers cost at different times of the night. All in all, a nice place to have gatherings because of its whole friendly vibe and American backyard patio(am I getting this right?) atmosphere. Burgers are great, and customisable as well! Will be back more often to try all the different permutations and combinations of burgers, cheers!

Burgers, root beer floats, good atmosphere, Fat Boys has got it down right! I love this place. The location is a little bit of a hassle, but it’s definitely worth the trek for a good fat juicy burger! What’s more, it’s open till late and guys, if you’re keen on football, Fat Boys will probably be showing the match. This place is awesome. The burgers are juicy and the service is great! You can make your own or choose from the pre assembled specialty burgers they’ve got on the Menu. There’s also vegetarian options and other things on the menu like Chicken Waffles and Hot Dogs. The Spicy Hot Drumlets are good too. My favourite is the Bleu Peppercorn. The patty is made of beef and coated in crushed black pepper and cooked to perfection. It also has a crispy onion ring and blue cheese dressing as the sauce — yummy! Wash all this down with the extensive list of beer or even a mega root beer float! For those who love cider, this place also serves Rekorderlig.

Even though this is a burger joint, there are quite a few options available for you to choose from, even your patties. There are vegetarian options, as well as different meats to choose from. You can build your own burger just the way you like it, or just simply order off the menu. The beef burger patties were seriously juicy, and I had to wipe my chin many a time. And not overcooked, yay! It tasted fresh but it seemed to lack flavour. The black sesame seeds on the buns were a nice touch. Salad on the side was fresh, but very uninspired, and the thick cut fries were abit too starchy for my liking. Both the chicken drumlets and the chilli fries were disappointing. The drumlets were too dry and not very tasty, and the chilli for the fries was a weird orange coloured gunk that wasn’t spicy. I’d just stick to the burgers at Fat Boys. It’s great value for money here, and the more stuff you add to your burger, the more it’ll cost you per item. The overall ambience of the place is pretty cosy. It’s got an American Diner sort of vibe, with a lot of activity and noise as it gets pretty full up on weekend evenings. Nice for group meet ups, not great for a romantic date.

There’s nothing like a good burger washed down with a good larger. These guys got their act right with this burger joint. The burgers are plump, the meats are cooked to a moist perfection and the beers on top at Happy Hour prices are just to die for. I’ve tried a good number of their burgers and to be honest I can’t say for sure which is my favorite but I recommend the Mahalo. You can’t go wrong with bacon that’s what I’d always say.

The burger joint to go to when I’m at le bf’s place. That being said though, I have never finished an entire portion of anything there. Everything is huge I tell you. It’s like they’re really trying to stay true to their fatboy image. But their burgers are really good though. Vegetarians will be pleased too as they’ve got some non-meat burgers available on the menu. Not much though and I have never tried it so I won’t be able to say if it’s any good. They’ve got some pretty yummy desserts too like waffles and ice cream. If you have space left in your tummy after the burgers, I recommend you go for it. You can choose between ice cream or butter to have with your waffles. Beer and football fans would be pleased to know they usually screen matched live and have pretty good beer promos during happy hours. So if you’re in the area, this is definitely a place to check out.

If you are looking for good burgers and a decent variety of beer, this is the place to be. They have a pretty wide rage of burgers with many different kinds of meat to choose from(chicken, Lamb and beef, pork salmon). If nothing on the menu appeals to you, you can custom make your own burger, with different fillings and sauces. My personal favorit is the mahalo, which is a bacon stuffed pork patty, caramelised onions, grilled pineapple, melted monterey jack cheese and creamy mayo on a sesame seed bun. Very good stuff. The sides are also very good. The chilli fires and the spicy hot drumlets are very good. They got a pretty good variety of bottle ales, which I’m not that into personally. They do have Stella Artois and hoegaarden on tap, which is usually my poison of choice.

Despite this joint being so close to my house, I go there very rarely simply because the portions are huge and a fat boy/girl is exactly what they want you to become. After one of their burgers, however, that doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. Any good burger place has a vegetarian option, and Fatboys outdoes itself with Big Bello, a Portobello burger perfected with caramelised onions. Seriously, even meat-eaters who will be spoilt for choice should give this one a try. Amazing. For starters, go for the Beer Battered Onion Rings, which are REAL big crispy onion rings; they’re the perfect side for your burger. There are always good beer promos too, so if you’re in the neighbourhood this is a great place to hang out whether for burgers or beer. You don’t have to much choice as a vegetarian, but those 2 are all you really need. Just make sure you keep it to at most once a month so you can watch that waistline: P

The Girlfriend’s been working at an office across the road for a couple of weeks now, and I’ve never stopped by long enough to grab a bite… until last week. I was a little early to pick her up from work(which almost never happens), so in honour of that… FATBOY’S for dinner! The menu made everything sound pretty damn good –would you eat at a burger joint that didn’t? I’m a sucker for pulled pork anywhere, so when I saw it on the menu, I did a bit of a dance(yeah, only in my head; have to save face before the meal). In the spirit of first-time fun, when asked what I wanted, I announced«Jamaican Me Hungry»! They’ve got names fort their burgers, so why not use them right? No double-takes from the wait staff though; I guess they get it all the time. Decently plump burger arrived pretty soon after — soft sesame seed bun, pulled pork was tasty enough, surprise sundried tomatoes in there too. And THICKCUTCHIPS?! Winner. In all the excitement, I probably ate a little too fast. The Girlfriend ate too of course, she had the Bolly Wooly — lamb with a curry sauce, in a pretty awesome honey oat bun. I snuck a bite, but I’m sticking to my pulled pork, man. I did demolish her chips though! These burgers at $ 12.50 a pop? I’d be a fat boy in a heartbeat. P. S. I hear the beers are pretty cheap too.
