This is a true sanctum for cat lovers and I am a cat lover(I am a fur-mom to a 4 year old ragamuffin which I adopted 2.5 years ago). I’ve been coming to Cat Socrates almost every other week after discovering they have opened a second outlet at Joo Chiat. Their first outlet is located at Bras Basah Complex which I first visited about 4 years ago — will love to cover that in a future review. The common denominator for both outlets is that each has a resident cat that stays in the shop. Resident Cat ZooZoo: The resident cat in the Joo Chiat outlet is ZooZoo, a male local cat the shop owner adopted sometime last year. The highlight of my visit to Cat Socrates every time is without a doubt to play with him(if he’s in the mood), take pictures of him(if he’s cooperative), observe what he does or simply just admire him happily snoozing away. Cat-theme Lifestyle Shop: As the shop owner is a cat-lover(she owns 2 cats at home), you can find many cool and quirky lifestyle items with cat themes: cute cat trinkets and costume jewellery, smartphone covers, accessories, plush cushions and covers, books and magazines, cards, water dishes, posters and many more. More than just a Cat-theme Lifestyle Shop: Besides cat-theme merchandise, the store also carries quality products for dog lovers. It has quite a good selection of books, postcards, prints, posters and magazines by local artists as well as imported printed material and magazines(example: Kinfold). It carries items like shawls, terrariums, mini potted plants, cute figurines(Totoro!) and one-of-a-kind tote bags as well as organic health foods(example: mixed nuts and cranberry granola) So, if you are a cat lover, I’m pretty sure you will love this sanctuary for us cat-lovers. And, even if you are not one, but are looking for unique or interesting gifts with strong local flavours, you may wanna hop in and take a look. You may just find something you like.

Love this outlet on Joo Chiat Road! I haven’t been to their original one in Bras Basah lately, but it feels like the Joo Chiat Road outlet focuses more on pets. However, you can still find quirky gifts and great accessories here, too. I don’t have any pets, but I loved their selection of food and water dishes for cats and dogs. They also had some decorative pillow cushions with cats on them, along with doodle books that are either dog or cat centric. I really loved their selection of leather goods; you can find some durable wallets and purses here. Their jewelry selection is limited, so you may or may not like the styles they feature. However, if you’re into air plants or terrariums, check out the back section– you can find all the relevant accessories! Great spot to stop by and peruse. They also have a cat wandering around inside, so if you’re allergic perhaps you should stick with their webstore!
