Loved their chicken pie!!! Crusty and flaky on the outside but moist and chewy on the inside. Lots of chicken and veggies… It isn’t a hollow chicken pie. It can be quite filling

I tried the cake and blueberry soda. I am giving four stars for those. The blueberry soda is novel and created fresh on the spot. They load it with little blueberries you suck up through the large straw. The soda tastes exactly like blueberry. It was fun sitting there. I went to the one in the mall near Suntec Mall. The pies look great, so will try if I am ever back in Singapore.

I’ve only had the chicken pie from here before but I’m a fan enough to wonder if I’ll ever have a more complete meal-worthy chicken pie in Singapore. You see, the problem with many chicken pies around is that they tend to be either too wet or too dry on the inside, sometimes too pepperish, and often with too many unwanted diced vegetables inside. Otherwise they are too small(like at Prima Deli) and don’t fill me up enough. Don’s chicken pie comes complete with a hard boiled egg(a must-have in my books), the chicken fall off in delicious, juicy and tender shreds, and the crust is crispy and everything you’d expect from an immaculate pie. It’s even good take-home, which I often do! Great when re-heated.

Just thinking of the word ‘don pie’ makes my mouth water, the peppery chicken pie and the smooth potato filling of the Sheppard’s pie is definitely worth the wait to my next visit there. The best thing about this pie is that there is an egg in every slice of the pie that you consume which makes the pie all the more yummy. They are really generous with the ingredients and filling that is used to make the pie and the chicken they use is really juicy and tender as well. My favourite would have to be the black pepper chicken pie as it adds a peppery taste to the pie and i am an avid fan of all things spicy or peppery. They have added a new addition to their menu which is the crab bee hoon, have heard good reviews about it but have yet to try it yet and i think it is quite pricey, maybe the next visit.

I met Don from Don Pie and I was a young singer in a club many years ago, he gave me his name card and one day, I thought the logo was cute but I didn’t understand why it wasn’t called Don’s Pie. It still bothers me now when I think about it… Don Pie? Where’s the apostrophe ‘S’!? I headed down there to taste the goods. I kept going back. That was eight years ago! And still, after eight years, it takes me 10 minutes to find the place… Thee are two things on the menu that you gotta try. The Crab Soup Bee Hoon and the black pepper chicken pie. I’m not really a fan of anything else, even the signature pie. I do wish Don would put more Bee Hoon in the Crab Bee Hoon dish. There’s more than enough crab… but not enough Bee Hoon for my appetite. Available for dine in or takeaway. Moderately priced for the quality of the food. It’s always where I head for dinner when I’m in China Square Central.
