Can’t resist the kaya+butter toast(feeling so guilty) and the ice milk tea! Such a perfect match for each other and for afternoon tea… I’m getting fat!!!

Toast Box at Capital Square is a non-descript outlet of the eponymous Singaporean chain famous for it’s thick toasts. I like the outdoor gazebo that allows you to sip a cup of kopi by the road, while looking out for any familiar faces from the office. Yes, this is the go-to place for people taking a coffee break in the area. The drinks are relatively affordable by Raffles Place standards(aka expensive to me) and the café is central enough that you can run back to the office if work calls. I have tried the lime juice with aloe vera and ice lemon tea. Both drinks come a little on the sweet side and I sometimes ask for sugar. The best times to visit this outlet are during real office offices i.e. not lunchtime, before work, 4−5pm when everyone needs coffee. The lines can get pretty long during peak periods so do try some other overpriced local coffee chain that has slightly shorter lines. My friends and I like to joke that these hole-in-the-wall coffee shops are the real winners in business — everyone likes their products and buys them at least once a day, location allows for bargaining power in pricing and demand is recession proof if not counter-cyclical. Go figure…
