Wearing the name of a popular Kpop band, this restaurant has been appearing on lots of deal websites — you know, those vouchers that you can buy online and get discounted prices. My friend got a voucher and asked me along; after all it is so near by house in Toa Payoh Central — to be exact, in the Orange Tee Building that’s near Courts. The buffet and steamboat is a 2-in-1 dining experience; there’s a circular soup bowl in the centre looping through the round metal grill that is used for ‘teppanyaki’. Steamboat with grill plates are easily found these days in Singapore, but what makes BigBang Bulgogi stand out is that their metal grills do not require you to place aluminum foil on top — there are holes perforated on the plate for oil to drip through. If you’re like me — ZERO cooking skills and can burn even hashbrowns kind — then you will do well here. No more chaota meat sticking onto aluminum foils! The restaurant’s quite small, so make your reservations before coming down.

Was pleasantly greeted by very friendly staff and management who tried their best to accomodate us. Our party included a 4 month old baby, and a pretty big stroller — the staff kindly offered to shift their tables so as to fit us into the least crowded part of the restaurant. Although the staff were very accommodating, this restaurant probably isn’t the best place to bring babies and young toddlers though as the tables are all very close together, there’s a little smoke that comes from the bbq in the air, and a fair amount of movement around the restaurant as there is a buffet option for diners. Now to the food. We weren’t up for the buffet, so had the ala carte. There is a small ala carte menu, around 8 — 10 dishes offering the basics such as bulgogi, kimchi tofu stew, grilled fish. It was very average — the taste but the beef bulgogi I had was swimming in stock, it wasn’t very bbq-ed at all, it was more like a stew. Perhaps that’s why they have the buffet so diners can cook the meat themselves? Haha But all in all not a bad experience due to the pleasant staff and management. Would go back to try the buffet next time!
