Interesting take on Korean bibimbap, the Bap offers diners the ability to customize their rice bowl. First you pick a protein — beef, chicken, tofu, etc. Next you pick 5 additional toppings such as carrots, spinach, lettuce, egg, etc. The rice bowl comes with a spicy sauce, a small side of kimchi and miso soup. Overall, taste wise, it was pretty good. Not spectacular, but quite alright for $ 9.50. If I would change anything, I would have a sauce that was less vinegery(perhaps more sesame oil) and would love to have a fried egg rather than scrambled egg. Other than that, it’s a nice fast food option that is also quite healthy!

So far, so good! This recently opened up in Novena Square, in that corner between Salad Stop and Marco Marco. The queues have been madness during lunch, but they are surprisingly quiet in the evenings. Perhaps they should put some effort into informing Novena residents that they’ve moved in! As their name suggests, their focus is on bibimbap. It seems like whatever you choose will be pretty customizable, as I was given the choice of beef, pork, tofu, or chicken and then 5 veggie choices. I liked the sauce that came with it; it had good flavours, brought everything together, and wasn’t too spicy. I just wish the egg had a runny yoke instead of being scrambled, and that the onions were sauteed a little more as their raw state made it a little overpowering. Good thing I had mints with me! On the wall they have this huge sign that explains how bibimbap is «great diet food». Not exactly sure how true this is… maybe I should come here every day and see if I slim down a bit. ;) I really like their bibimbap better than Seoul Yummy’s in Square 2; here’s hoping they’ll keep up the good work!
