This place is a hole in the wall, blink and you’d miss it. In fact I discovered it by chance, waiting for a table at Mr Prata just next door. It’s the kind of place you’d want to hang around in to while at your time, or if you’re waiting for your kids at basketball practice across the road at NIE. Coffee is good, not great. I like the flora, fruity scent in the latte, but there’s a sourness at the end. Good baristas will know how to work that out. The cup cakes though are to die for. My personal favourite is the PB& Jelly. Full of creamy goodness. And there’s sort of a jelly core that goes all the way through the cup cake.

Came by just for my afternoon coffee. Ordered a long black. The beans used was their Liberty blend. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised by the brew before me. Strongly fragrant(burnt chocolate), the coffee was surprisingly light and smooth in texture. Mild acidity. What was surprising was the sweet aftertaste that developed and lingered in the mouth after each gulp. Best coffee I had in a week

Assembly coffee is on Evans road(26 Evans Lodge), just outside the Botanic Garden in Singapore, next door to a wine store(the Wine Company), burger restaurant(Wildfire Kitchen) and Mr Prata. The café is fairly small and the space feels very cramped, at least when it is full(which it was when I visited). It was also fairly noisy, so it was difficult to have a normal conversation due to sound from everyone around you. The café is however neatly designed and has the vibe of a cool café. They claim to be part of the third wave coffee movement but the focus on the coffee was not really there when I visited. They had only one option for filter coffee and while it was prepared in a decent way, it did in no way impress me. The espresso based beverages were pretty good and compared to the average place they do serve a good cup but it is not a place worth going to just for the coffee. I was however more impressed with the food. A good selection of different sandwiches, simple dishes and some nice sweet stuff. The salted caramel waffle was really good and the same can be said for the egg and mayo sandwich as well as the scrambled egg croissant. Prices were pretty decent to be a Singapore café but it still bothers me that they only accept Nets or cash, so for us non-locals better bring along cash. Service was friendly, but as it often seems packed to the brim, also a bit stressed and it was difficult to really chat about the coffee with them. Still a decent place and by far the best around the Botanical garden.

Coffee is decent and well-priced. Service is like in many other«hip» coffee joints — lackluster. Croissant + 2 coffees took 25 mins. Ok place for coffee if u’ve time. Skip the food.

Fantastic all around. I had a latte, a flat white and a slice of chocolate cake that also had pistachio and pomegranate. Coffee was great. Cake was great. Space was nice. Definitely a short list spot.

Great hidden coffee — literally a hole in the wall. $ 4.00 coffee and some simple breakfast brunch fare. Great desserts and all round food looks great.

We arrived on a Saturday at 2.30pm, hoping to have a good and relaxing late lunch. However, the café was jammed packed(this is quite expected for a weekend so no biggie) and the food we eventually had was entirely dismissal. We both had the scrambled eggs croissant, which came served in a very sad ensemble of(hardly any) greens, sad looking eggs, and croissant overloaded with oil. Latte was average but nothing I would return for. Overall, disappointing.

Great coffee! Love the waffles and croissants. There aren’t many breakfast and brunch options on the menu, but they’re tasty and prepared well. I will definitely be back.

This place has no idea what customer service is. My friend and I went here and were told to leave within minutes of finishing our food. The worker’s excuse was that«they needed the table» for other patrons. There was a couple beside us who had already finished when we got there, yet they weren’t asked to leave. How tacky and distasteful.

Fantastic coffee, period! That’s what this place is really good for. They also have yummy pastry options. I’m a little less excited about their brunch and lunch options. But I understand that you can’t run a full-size kitchen at a place this small. But… did I mention their coffee is fantastic? I sincerely hope that they can expand into a bigger place in the vicinity… maybe take over the space from the awful Hatched restaurant next door?

I allude to the fact that I popped by during the weekends where the café was bursting to the seams which made me give this review 3 stars. For peeps who don’t own a car, you can take a train to Botanical Gardens(Circle Line) and walk a short distance to the café. Be warned though, keep your eyes peeled or you will miss the café. Situated next to the prata shop, the exterior boosts a quaint awning-type roof and looks pretty inviting. However, upon entering, the place was packed to the brim and we were lucky enough to get a small table near the door. The crowd was un-relenting and the noise level was unbearable which made my headache worse. We wanted to order the Pork Belly sandwich but it was sold out. Verdict: Flat white — Not bad considering it was brewed by a 20 something young girl. However, not as full-bodied as I would liked it to be. Salted Caramel Pancakes — Not as crunchy at the edges and soft on the inside as the ones at Tolido’s Espresso Nook or my second best for pancakes — Coastal Settlement. Although it is freshly made on the spot, I found the pancake lacking in many ways. Mostly, it felt like it was cooked ages ago and left in the open to ‘lao hong’. Tip: Try going on a weekday after a walk at Botanic Gardens. I’m sure it would be much better then weekends!

A cute café with good coffee and yummy food! It’s a pretty small place though. We visited at 11am on a weekday and it was fairly crowded, though the turnover seemed pretty brisk. The pulled pork sandwich was good. I could have personally used a tad more sauce on the pork but it was tender and the added slices of green apple were a really nice touch. The salted caramel waffle was great! The waffle was just crisp enough, and the ice cream wasn’t the least bit melted when it arrived at our table. Pretty perfect. I recommend you start with dessert :) And finally, I ordered an espresso macchiato which was lovely. Smooth and just right. Notwithstanding the butt-crack foam art…

The Hot Chocolate is excellent as the right amount of milk added ensured that the bitter taste of the cocoa is barely tasted while making it a warm and invigorating drink to have. It is a great combination of coffee and milk taste for this Caffe Latte, as the bitter taste of the coffee is quickly covered by the milk and retaining its strong taste. The Smoked Salmon Sandwich consist of a French Atlantic smoked salmon placed on a toasted country loaf, topped with garden greens, red onions with a citrus vinaigrette. The smoked salmon is cooked nicely and the loaf is toasted nicely. The Eggs Benedict is well executed. The poached eggs is served with ham on an english muffin and is drizzled with hollandaise sauce and garden greens. The poached eggs was made perfectly as the yolk was runny and as I started to have my first bite the yolk broke off. The english muffin nicely complemented the eggs. This place is within proximity to Botanic Gardens, the Bukit Timah campus of NUS and Gleneagles Hospital. If you’re around these areas, this place is a great place to have a cuppa coffee.

Lovely little café on Evans Road that is competent with social media(Definitely a plus point for me). For now, they have a rotating bean selection. I had a flat white made with Liberty beans that tasted pretty good. Also, I’m glad they’re offering pour overs! It’s great to see Singapore embracing third wave coffee. Lovely little fit out with heaps of flowers and natural light. There are approximately 20 – 30 seats inside, and it may get a little cramped at times. But with hot/cold coffee and tea options + food, what are you waiting for? Go replenish them calories after that run you just had at the Botanic Gardens.
