It’s breakfast not rocket surgery! Setting is very quant in some socialized version of a school building with free Pap smears in the back(ok, no medicine is really practiced but I am sure blood has been let out back). The restaurant is kitsch with retro ‘ture and lighting. Eggs Benedict is decent — served with salad you feel like its healthy. The veggie omelet frattata is good with pickled onions and mild salsa. Skip the coffee or BYOC. Be nice to the staff — they are just there to help out for community service. I’ve been twice, I’ll go again — it’s weird and they try!

We were looking for a change of pace from the Line at the Shangri-La and my hubby recommended we give this place a shot. He found it on HungryGoWhere and the reviews looked decent and the menu looked like it had quite a few American breakfast options for us to try. We took a cab and found it located next to a school and on the first floor of an apartment complex. The interior is pretty quaint with industrial light fixtures and a full wall painted with chalkboard paint, featuring specials and menu items. It reminded me slightly of Down House in Houston Heights, but not quite as hipster. Our server was sweet, and the place was busy. We were seated without a wait at a table near the window and handed some really unique menus. They had a comic book concept, but could use a little bit more information organization(sorry — graphic designer in me). The menu featured all sorts of dishes based around eggs. They had omelets, Benedicts, french toast and more. We started with long black coffee($ 4.50 each), but didn’t receive it until after our food came. We each got designer omelets($ 12.00 each). Hubby ordered his with tomatoes, mushrooms and chorizo sausage and I got mine filled with ham, bacon and tomato. They came out with a piece of white bread that I could tell they had attempted to toast — no big deal to me because I can’t eat the bread anyway — but other patrons might want their butter to somewhat melt on the bread when it’s spread. We ordered mash potato sides($ 4.00 each) because they were out of the grilled potatoes. I was a bit worried I’d be cheating on the Paleo diet because most places use milk in their mashed potatoes, but these were lumpy and dry, so I think I was in the clear. Overall, I was under-whelmed; blame it on being spoiled with amazing brunches in Houston. I have read about other amazing brunch places in Singapore and plan to give those a shot next time.

Not going here again. Service staff is always overwhelmed, waits are extremely long, and eggs are undercooked and taste processed. As much as I love the idea of an egg-focused all day brunch place, this restaurant doesn’t have anything to recommend itself.

Great idea, poorly executed. The place is constantly overwhelmed. There is a complete lack of order and system in how the place is run. It starts from the queue outside. There is no systemic method for taking down the sequence of guests. So everyone just has to guess who is next in line. Second, it took them at least 15 minutes to take our orders… another 40 to serve. If you are really hungry don’t come here — you will have to wait. Third the food is okay but not fantastic. You’d think they get the eggs right at least. Yet eggs always seem a bit too runny or liquid. It’s hard to blame the serving staff about any of this. It seems to be a problem how the place is run and how the staff is trained to handle crowds.

Hatched used to serve up really great brunches. However, my recent experience there has been lacklustre. The eggs ben was undercooked for one and overcooked for the other. The portion was small in comparison to the price tag. The hollandaise was bland. With the increasing number of cafes serving up brunches, this was way disappointing. I would not be returning again :(

Costs way too much for an eggs benedict. $ 15 nett for a half order, really? Maybe this is the market rate now(2012) Salad was mediocre, poached egg was overdone, muffin/bacon was blah, hollandaise was thin and bland. Cappuccino was pretty bad. Antoinette at Mandarin Gallery has way better food for similar prices and better location

This has to be one of my favourite brunch spots. Tucked away along Bukit Timah, its a great chilled out venue, super casual– you can choose to sit outside in a cute garden like backyard or inside. The food is excellent, my personal favourite is the dippy eggs and soldiers. But they also do excellent waffles(perfect if it were a bit crispier, and tell them to skip the icing sugar) and big breakfast type mains. Lovely service staff too.

EGGSEGGSEGGS!!! Hatched is one of the cutest Brunch places, but note their new operating hours: Thursday — Saturday: 8:00am — 10:00pm(Last order at 9:00pm) Sunday — Monday: 8:00am — 4:00pm Tuesday — Wednesday: Closed I am currently staying at Evans Hostel which is connected to Hatched, and I am so sad that they are not opened daily! We were seated right away, so the wait was luckily not too long. It tends to be pretty packed here during their operating hours, but I never see too long of a queue every time I pass it. So, I think it is worth the wait — but, it is very convenient for me since I live right upstairs :) I went here with my roommate and ordered the Smoked Royale — Half an English Muffin topped with Smoked Salmon, Poached Egg and Hollandaise Sauce. It also had a side of their delicious homemade mash potatoes and a bit of greens. She ordered the Burly Benedict which was basically the same as mine but with corned beef instead, and we also had the Sleepover Hatched Special(French Brioche Toast with grilled bananas and strips of bacon in between). Tasting all three, I would highly recommend the Smoked Royale(I might be a bit biased because I love salmon, but it’s healthy and not too heavy for the first meal of the day). I got the $ 19 ‘Do Two’ option, and it was the perfect portion — I was a bit stuffed but extremely satisfied. The eggs were poached wonderfully and the yolk slowly oozed out and was a perfect combination with the muffin and salmon. I can’t wait to try more dishes from here. They also have adorable unique salt and pepper shakers at each table! SOADORABLE!

Oh, this place reminds me of the days I would get a paycheck and I would splurge here for lunch. I used to eat here at least once a month for the two years. The food is delicious. I’ve had their salmon eggs benedict and this philly omelette I believe it was called and both were savory. Their pancakes are fluffy while their muesli was also tasty. However, as good as it was, I still left a little hungry and a little sad that my wallet was empty. While its good food, the prices are a bit expensive for this student budget. This place is a bit inconvenient to get to if you’re trying to get there by public transport. You’ll have to walk to the main street to get a cab or phone one in, most of the cabs passing through already have passengers on their way to the Botanic Gardens.

Over-hyped and inconveniently located brunch place but with good food. Wait is forever though so make sure you make a reservation. And be sure to know your way here since most taxi drivers won’t. But then again, Singaporean taxi drivers never know where they are going: P

Parking here is not the most convenient but well worth risking the illegal parking if you’re crazy about eggs and can’t decide where to go. The menu is a smörgåsbord of egg-ful dishes. A really smart concept to play with one of the most versatile ingredients. I had the poached egg with caesar salad, unfortunately the poached egg was a little overdone, it wasn’t as gooey as I usually like them to be, so that was a disappointment. I’ve also tried the salmon poached egg in another outing and that was done well! A little inconsistent and average if you judge the dishes by itself but as a restaurant, it’s quite hard to say no to a restaurant that sells mostly egg dishes! Do make reservations on weekends because its a small space and it gets really packed very fast.

Which came first, the brunch or the egg? Eggs have played a fundamental role in breakfasts since forever — sunny side ups, poached and scrambled and served on toast are only just some of the ways they are prepared. And because they are just so versatile and scrumptious, there are just too many egg-enthusiasts who can’t live without their egg-fixes in the mornings. If you happen to be one of them, you’re going to have a ball of fun at Hatched. A highlight of their menu is Papillote, scrambled eggs enwrapped in smoked salmon, topped with chive cream and served with a side of sautéed potatoes and caramelised onions to seal the deal. You won’t regret it. Who could have forgotten eggs benedict? Hatched put an exciting twist on the ever-popular brunch item with Burly Benedict, topping the usual English muffin and poached egg with oodles and oodles of prime-grade corned Wagyu beef that will have your eye balls rolling back in their sockets the very moment you stick that fork into your mouth. And for those who to stand out amongst all the eggy dishes at the brunch-table, or those who just can’t stand eggs, Where’s Waffle is the perfect way to go! Served with fresh blueberries, butter, fresh cream and maple syrup, these waffles are as good as waffles can get. A frownie point(and a huge hit to my review on them) are their prices. An egg costs about 30 cents in a supermarket — but a pair of basic Eggs Benedict can come up to $ 17(after service charge &GST). What’s up with that?

Located at evans road, you might consider taking a bus to its nearby bus stop, but this place is definitely inaccessible if you do not drive. If you do no drive, you would want to visit the Holland road branch instead. This restaurant has a homely interior design that makes one feel at home. It serves all day breakfast and places a lot of focus on the egg. You will see the each dish has some degree of association to egg, be it poached, fried, scramble. The can’t go wrong food would be the egg benedict where the eggs are served in a creamy sauce and sandwiches. If you are feeling hungry, you can try the ‘do two’ on the menu that is their language for upsize. Price is affordable and cheaper as compared to wild honey but weighing the location, it might be a place where you will visit once in a while.

Heard of many fantastic reviews and decided to try it out. Eggs are one of the major ingredients which this restaurant has used in most of their dishes. I like the vibe and décor of the place This is my first time at hatched so i decided to order the safer choices like sir benedict Firstly, for the sir benedict it comes with lettuce, mashed potato and the eggs benedict had bacon, ham on top of the muffin followed by the poached egg. Love this the most as the bacon is very crispy and the whole thing was just perfect. Will definitely be back again for more of it all day breakfast.

If you like eggs like i do, and the idea of an all day breakfast appeals, then perhaps you would like Hatched. They serve all sorts of eggs: boiled, poached, baked, scrambled, fried, and omelette. Then there are the toppings. This would be egg heaven if there’s one. However, if you are as particular about the eggs as i am, then you would be disappointed by the quality of the meals here. My Eggs Benedict($ 12 for 1) was pretty bland due to the watery Hollandaise sauce. It lacked the creaminess and cheesiness that i would prefer in mine. As a guide, I always compare them to Wild Honey’s which i feel has the best eggs ben in Singapore. Portion wise, i think they are really small. I was still hungry after devouring 2. :(What’s good however is the ambience at Evans though the place is really small and packed on weekends.

A place that specializes in eggs. Isn’t the name a dead give away? If you like eggs, sunny side up, runny, poached, boiled, scrambled, then this is the place for you. I can’t remember the name of the dish I had, it had poached eggs layered with mushrooms and bacon almost like an eggs cocotte. I love eggs so maybe this review might be biased. Taste was just fantastic and eggs were poached to perfection(yolk oozes smoothly). Generally a nice place to have brunch over the weekend but be prepared to wait as it can get really crowded. Best to try it on the weekdays instead if you can afford the time! Their coffee is pretty great too!

If you love eggs, you will love this place. Everything on the menu is designed around. you guessed it. eggs! It feels like all day breakfast when you have nothing but eggs but you’ll be surprised. The egg dish can get pretty heavy, every pun intended. If you’re looking for a bright cheery place for breakfast or lunch on a weekend, this is the place for the perfect(not too expensive) Sunday brunch. Why weekends only? Only because this is the kind of place that inspires you to want to idle away your whole afternoon. How would you be able to do that if you have to go back to work? Of course if you’re a student at the nearby NUS Bukit Timah Campus, that is a luxury you can well afford then. Parking is limited and if you do not live in the vicinity, driving is almost a must. But now that the Botanic Gardens MRT is open, a little walk to and fro a good hearty meal is not too bad an idea.
