Decent food. I had the chicken parmesan kaiser and it was very good. Pecan pie for dessert, and although that was good as well, it was, unfortunately, still frozen on the bottom. Very slow service, no silverware, no napkins, and won’t buss empty glassware off the table. Go to the Keg or Olive Garden instead for an equivalent price dinner and a much better dining experience.

swiss chalet is standard, pretty tasty traditional comfort food. nothing spectacular, but rarely bad. there are some healthier choices which is nice. this location is nice, clean, comfortable with easy access in a big box store mall and always convenient parking. the place is great for large groups and families too. the staff was super duper nice and helpful. catered to all our special requests and gave us plenty of time to check out the menu and chat after. the meals were served hot and fresh, the portions pretty generous for the price. i had a ¼ dark meat chicken meal which came with 1 side(steamed veggies, perfectly steamed and fresh including carrots, broccoli and squash), a multi grain roll and dipping sauce(the stuff that tasted kinda strange and sour and you’re not sure if you like it but keep eating it). it was about $ 11 and for a couple of dollars I added a side salad(fresh but generic ice berg and romaine with carrots and a few tomatoes) and tons of gravy(cause, admit it, swiss chalet is all about the gravy). the chicken was a little overcooked to the point of being fall off the bone soft, which isn’t my favorite, but it is pretty standard for rotisserie rather than baked chicken. overall, a pretty tasty meal but again, nothing you can’t make at home or buy at the grocery store if you had the motivation. overall, i’d come here for a nice, casual restaurant experience, the convenience of pretty good but standard and relatively healthy food and great service. and the gravy!

Friendly and accommodating but I would never use the words efficient. Swiss Chalet you know what you are getting. Tasty chicken with a disgustingly good sauce. However, I’ve seen chicken wings that are bigger than the supposed leg I got. Also having to wait over 50 minutes, when it is not even busy, is unforgivable Food was okay but overall service and speed of getting our food were huge detractors. Nice job offering a second piece to make up for the poor excuse of a ¼ chicken, but it should have never left the kitchen in the first place

Food wasn’t spectacular. $ 20 for some ribs but didn’t taste like $ 20 of ribs. I think the best part was the Kinder Eggs for the kids.

This place is super busy on the evenings and weekends because it’s the only one in Winnipeg. Well, there was that tiny one at the old airport but that one doesn’t really count. Seems like one of those Canadian institutions like Tim Hortons where everyone goes crazy for it. Did the take out option as the restaurant but unfortunately they weren’t very accurate with the order(and they weren’t very busy). I had to call back to tell them they missed a side dish — the young staff who answered didn’t even apologize and sounded very non-chalant and didn’t really offer any immediate remedy. I asked if they could delivery the missing item but they said delivery doesn’t start until January. They opted to give me a $ 3 credit for my next visit… yes, because I am so excited to go back. I don’t want the credit, I just wanted my side dish! Anyhow, I was more annoyed that there was no apology. 16 wings for $ 17.99. The medium hot wings were okay, they were breaded and had more tang than heat. The wings were of decent size. The quarter chicken and half rack BBQ rib combo(18.99) includes the chalet dipping sauce, roll and side dish of your choice(that’s the one I didn’t get in my order). The chicken tastes like most grocery store rotisserie chickens — I think the grocery store ones taste better and has more flavour. The chicken was dry but wasn’t that well seasoned. I guess they want you to use the chalet sauce which is probably the yuckiest sauce I’ve ever tried. This infamous sauce has a strange medicinal aftertaste to it… not sure why people love it. The ribs were tender and fell off the bone. They BBQ sauce was on the sweeter side and to me is similar or slightly below Tony Romas ribs. Overall, probably a good place for families to dine due to ambiance and price point. But if you’re looking for good rotisserie chicken, the grocery store can provide just as good of an option.
