this place has the ambience of a loud beer hall at night, always crowded(reservations recommended) and noisy. Hostess had trouble hearing me when I tried to tell her what party I was looking for, finally plunked me down at a huge table and walked away. Here I am, sitting alone, waiting for a group of strangers to arrive and not even a drink on the way! It has a nice selection of craft beers and ciders, and the menu looks appetising.

Great beer selection and good lunch specials. Convenient location. Used to go weekly for the flatbread. Stayed for the always rotating taps. 4 stars because of slightly high prices but I suppose that’s typical for the area.

A friend and I stopped in here for beer, nachos and wings. I was a little disappointed with the selection of lagers on the menu(there were only 3) but he food made up for it. Nachos were a giant portion and more than enough for two. The wings were not bad. It wouldn’t be my first choice for craft beer selection but it was ok.

The nachos are to die for! The pulled pork sandwich is heavenly as well. Sometimes there’s a wait to get in and it gets pretty loud in there. Love the huge selection of beer that they have ! But if you get sick of beer after a paddle like me, don’t expect much at all from the cocktail list. Service is friendly and knowledgeable.

Great if you wanna try a ton of different beers. Sleeves will run you the cost of a pint here so a TAD on the pricier side. Food here just keeps creeping up in price, but it’s pretty good for pub fare. Was better before it became a sports bar.

Pretty typical bar food. The pizzas are pretty good but again nothing really stands out. Service is okay. Its a nice place to grab a beer and catch a game. Tv everywhere. Has a noce atmosphere and its close to the skytrain. I guess its one of the nicer bars in the area. Not bad at all.

Too bad. There was hope here a couple of years ago for a great place with good food and good atmosphere, and beer. Beer is still there. Old review stands. Staff turnover has left a shallow core. Glad the owners got their brewery going with this place. Unfortunately, they forgot their roots.

I had an awesome time coming here on Sunday! They have a screen which shows you all the beers they have and the % level of the keg — I thought that was cool. Our server was very nice and did an amazing job serving out 7 person table. We also came in when it was busy and didn’t have to wait long to get seated. I ordered the sicilian pizza — best pizza I ever had! It was just amazing. It was also the special for the day and the price was unbeatable.

i didn’t think it was possible to break ALL the nacho rules on one plate. 1– nacho chips — thin, floppy and could not come close to withstanding what they had in store for them 2– cheese — where was the cheese?!? i literally dug in and searched. i would catch a glimpse… «ah HA!» but when i would pull the chip, it would be bare! what the ??? disappearing cheese!?! 3– toppings — oh man do NOT put all the wet toppings on top of thin chips with no protective cheese layer! for the love of… 4– guac — came from a tube #micdrop p. s. beer is still good, but you can get good beer anywhere

Finally, festive atmosphere and good place to have good time with good friends!

Came in to Saint Augustine’s for my birthday last night… Big mistake!!! Terrible service, like so bad that our server really needs to rethink her life choices. Honestly all that sticks out from my/our(I can speak for the 10 people with me) experience is: Crap service Unwelcoming feelings No beer … They ran out of everything, which is fine but I would expect our server to know that rather than carelessly sauntering back and forth to report the bad news. Nachos… The nachos were quite good. So good that I’m going to the store now and I’m going to make my own.

My friend and I have been talking about coming here for a month. She’s been before and really likes it so I took her word for it and made plans to go. We went yesterday for lunch. Lots of seats available which was fine, it was a Monday after all. Our waitress informed us that their lunch special was a half of a pizza of your choice and a mixed greens or caesar salad for nine bucks. We both ordered that — I chose margharita and mixed greens, she ordered caesar salad and I can’t remember her pizza(it had mushrooms that’s all I know). We also ordered the beer paddles. I chose the Raspberry Lemon spritz, very berry cider, ginger beer, and St Augustine’s lager. I first had a paddle at Craft Beer Market, and it was awesome so I’ve been seeking these out at other places. Personally, I like that St Augustine’s comes with four as apposed to six at Craft; I feel it’s the right amount in terms of size and samples. I liked everything on my paddle, my friend liked everything but her smokey lager. The pizza and salads were excellent — also the perfect size. You can’t really mess up margharita pizza and salad. We each paid about 20 bucks for our meals which I think is reasonable per person, and for lunch. I’ve heard great things about their nachos and almost gave those a try, but decided I wanted a meal instead of a snack. I had a great experience here, I will likely be back for another paddle and who knows? Maybe I’ll try their nachos. I definitely want to try their mac ‘n’ cheese croquettes. It is right across the street from Commercial/Broadway station, so it’s easily accessible. Give it a try, can’t go wrong with pizza and beers!

This sucks and I’m disappointed. Lots of beer options and the food is great but this happens to be the first time I take my girl there and we wait 15 minutes without even a «be right with you» and we end up leaving. It’s not like I haven’t been there before. 5 times. Loved the nachos and the beer and the fact that I can see what’s on tap and the % remaining while taking a leak; brilliant. But come on. Yes it was busy. But so what. Is that a pass to allow for service that waits 15 minutes before even water? Ridiculous. I even timed them(I know); just to make sure I’m not being unreasonable. But(yah i started with a but!) I’ve seen enough«bar rescue» to know that 15min and no server what-so-ever is big ape man getting all pissed off and yelling«shut it down!». I love that show. So in the end I’m not going back. I have better things to do then wait for nachos that aren’t as good as foundation’s. At least there you know the service is going to be… «interesting». I love Foundations b-t-dubs.

We have been to St A’s several times in the past few years and have always been very happy with the selection of beers, the quality of the food(I really like their food) and have found the service hit & miss. St Augustine’s is a very popular pub so be prepared to wait outside. Unfortunately there seem to be plenty of smokers waiting to get inside and that was not pleasant to be exposed to their smoke. I have had several items off their menu and have to say that their bacon cheese mushroom burger is one of the best I have had. And I love that you can check on line what beers they are serving at the moment. Service wise, we have had great service and not so great service but all in all, they were all positive experiences.

This is my most favorite pub, ever! For a place that’s known for their fantastic selection of beer, I come for the food. Every time I come here, I get surprised by how good the food is, and it always makes me come back for more. My favorite item on the menu is their fried chicken, which is probably the best I’ve ever had. They usually give you 2 pieces of white meat, and a piece of dark meat. I just don’t understand stand how they manage to make the dark meat at tender and juicy as the red meat. It just defies logic! They have different flavors on rotation it seems, and the 2 flavors I had, garlic and honey + Tabasco, are equally fantastic. Also do yourself a favor and get one of their desserts. I had their banana Nutella tiramisu and it was DIVINE. Paired it with a stout and I was on cloud nine.

I’ve had a couple of bad experiences here in the past with servers being really rude & in one case yelling at a friend of mine for trying to order a drink after he’d been waiting quite a while. Last night however was a different story. I met my best friend for dinner and we had a good meal with great service. We ordered appies to share; nachos, fried Brussels sprouts and the fish tacos. The nachos were really well presented with a generous amount of toppings. The sprouts were slightly undercooked but tasty all the same. The fish tacos were really good & also looked great. We couldn’t eat all of it and they were kind enough to wrap the leftovers to go. What really stood out was when I ordered a beer and hated it. Not the bars fault at all I just didn’t like it. When I informed our server she took it away promptly and I ordered another drink. Upon receiving my bill I found I hadn’t been charged for the awful beer. I would have been happy to pay for it so I thought this was very good service. Unfortunately I forgot to acknowledge this with my server and thank her. As mentioned I’ve had a couple of bad experiences here hence only 3 stars. I’m glad I gave them another chance & hope they keep up the good work!

I think what had me coming back to this place was the Mac n’ Cheese Croquettes. Deep fried, mac n’ cheese GOODNESS. The beer? Quite nice, as well. They switch out around 50 taps of local brewed craft beers everyday. That means there is a new beer to try EVERYDAY. Sounds like a pretty sweet gig? The staff service is average. Some staff take especially long to hand you your bill after they’ve cleaned your table. And the pouring is, well, poor. Messy beer spills everywhere. The bottom of your cup is never dry. ESPECIALLY if your order a paddle. Are these bad aspects a reason not to go though? Of course not. Check it out if you’re looking for a laid back, great tasting night out for conversations. But be aware of the Friday and Saturday night outings. It is SO loud in there you can barely hear yourself think.

This pub is located in central commercial drive. Due to its location, its super crazy busy(any day). Especially when there are Canucks game happening its really hard to get seats. You really have to come early. Had their nachos and the portion was huge and pretty good. My friends like coming here but because I don’t drink I watch them drink. The beer selection is massive. No kidding. I am not talking about wine. I am seriously talking about beer! I enjoy mostly the atmosphere of the place than anything else. Its quite enjoyable and gives you that also night life vibe every time I am there. Love this place.

«Gluten free beer» in a contaminated tap, that is all. The food options for gluten free are great and as a celiac I’ve been able to eat there a couple times with no issue. When I dared to try the gluten free beer /cider on tap I would get pretty sick. On the third trip here one of the servers informed me that they don’t have dedicated gluten free lines for the gluten free options!

Let me preface this by saying that I still miss The End Café… the atmosphere, prices, and chili were unbeatable! So my view of St. Augustine’s was a little grumpy to start with. That said, I was super excited for a pub which touted such a HUGE array of craft beers. The atmosphere has become a little too almost-sport-bar-y for me over the past year or so; the noise level has increased, the tables feel really tightly packed in side by side, and there’s usually some obnoxious sport playing loudly on the tvs. This is not a reverent haven for craft beer lovers, it’s a sports bar that has an amazing beer selection. The beer choices are always absolutely amazing — top to bottom, all the beers are well picked and interesting. I do have an issue with the pricing — I imagine that they are priced based on how far they’ve travelled to get there, but I really object to paying $ 8.25 for a 4.8% beer… call me old-fashioned, but I like my prices based on alcohol content: 5%? $ 5! 8%? $ 7! That makes more sense to me, and means that I usually scour the menu for something that sounds delicious, but also matches more closely to my preferred price to percent ratio! The food is so-so. It always seems a little expensive for what you get, although I enjoy the flavours. I do want a little more in the way of standard pub food for somewhere that has a very pub-like atmosphere — give me a juicy slab of pizza overflowing with toppings! I don’t always want a super thin, crispy flatbread with caramelized fig and goat cheese — sometimes I just want something basic and yummy. I like St. Augustine’s well enough, but it’s never my first choice, despite being so conveniently located.
