Had poutine during the poutine festival. 14 bucks for gigantic fries that were so fat they were like mashed potatoes, Guiness gravy that was more like au jus, a sparse serving of less than fresh cheese curds. The only reason I am giving three stars is the staff was great. Our server replaced my poutine with a burger platter with absolutely no fuss

Was visiting some family members and we decided hop in to grab a quick drink and bite(as well as warm up a bit). Honestly, I am not a «pub» person soI decided to order a salad(I know. I know! Of ALL things!) and a bloody Caesar. Both were DELISH! The drink was spicy and lemony which worked perfectly together. A few people at the table ordered the sheppard’s pie and said it was great! We were all pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and drinks! I would go back if I was ever in the area again.

Went here to get out of the cold on a very cold Saturday. The food was good and so was the service. I wouldn’t rave about this place because it didn’t really wow me on anything particular but if you are looking for decent pub food, I would recommend this place. Overall the food was priced appropriately for quality and quantity and the service was good too. I did really like the fisherman chowder and the fish n chips and shepherds pie was also decent. Drink specials were also good.

We visited this place twice because the first visit was very good. The second was just good. Visit 1. There were four of us for dinner. We each got a drink and ordered a few apps. I ordered the beet hummus with veggie chips and pita wedges. It was really good hummus. Very lemony and a bit spicy, but really good. I was pretty sure there would be little on the menu for me, but I found a vegetable ragout that was served with portobello mushroom on top. If I wasn’t staying in a hotel, I most definitely would have taken what I had left, but I was so full between the hummus and the ragout that I simply couldn’t finish it all. The ragout was super-filling. Loaded with potato, sweet potato, tomato, carrot, and that big meaty mushroom. I’d recommend this even to someone who wasn’t eating animal product free. So yummy! A table mate ordered the special that night, any of the pies. She got the salmon and leek pie which looked a bit small, but was apparently very good. The other two in our party ordered calamari as an app and said it was perfectly cooked, not rubbery at all. They both ordered the shepherds pie and looked very rich, and both enjoyed it a lot. One had a side salad with his which looked a bit scant, to be honest, and the other ordered the best looking fries I’ve seen in awhile. It was a great first experience. Although, I don’t think the waitress knew how to take our humour, haha. Visit 2. It was absolutely freezing in Ottawa this night and we didn’t want to go far, so we decided to try this place once again. I knew one thing, I was ordering those fries! I ended up going with the veggie burger, to be honest, I didn’t inquire if it was vegan friendly because I was just hungry at that point. It came with fried onions on it that were quite spicy. You could actually see the veg in the burger, I liked that. Plus I got a side of fries. I was not disappointed. They were nice and thick, crispy outside, warm and soft on the inside. They were fantastic. But once again, I couldn’t finish my meal. Too hungry? Or larger portions than I thought? I’m still not sure. Another of us ordered the same. And the other ordered that night’s special, the fish and chips with an extra piece of fish. Now she and I are both East coasters and we can be very fussy about our fish. She was not completely impressed with the consistency of the whitefish inside. I didn’t ask, but my guess would be tilapia or pollock. But it was kind of mushy and she didn’t finish hers. She also had fries which she really enjoyed, as well as a side coleslaw that was good. Didn’t look creamy, so probably a proper vinegar-based slaw. The way it should always be. I suspect that this place can be pretty bumping sometimes. Each time we went there was quite a few people, but not full. I’d definitely go again.

Down at the Porter end of YOW, there’s only a couple options for a sit down meal — Byward Taps and D’Arcy’s. Having been to the Taps a couple before and not being impressed, I decided to take the extra steps down the terminal to try and find something better. D’Arcy’s may be a chain pub in an airport, but it was going to be hard to be worse than the Taps was. There was a few tables occupied when I arrived, and some more filled up over the course of my mea, as a new round of departures were coming up. The restaurant is more closed off from the hustle and bustle of the airport than some of the other food options, which was nice, but unfortunately it also seemed to inhibit the airport’s wifi. D’Arcy’s menu is pretty sizable, but doesn’t reach the ridiculous levels of larger chains like Boston Pizza. There’s the typical pub fare, as well as a good amount of Irish items like steak and mushroom pie, shepherd’s pie and boxties. I’d never had a boxty before, which is an Irish potato pancake, so I went with the steak and mushroom boxty. Not wanting to be a complete glutton, I got the house salad on the side. It wasn’t long before I had my plate of Irish-ish food. The boxty was folded over a thick pile of hunks of steak, whole mushrooms and gravy. I enjoyed the boxty itself; it had a soft, slightly chewy texture that was somewhere in between a tortilla and naan bread. The steak was moist and tender, and the mushrooms being whole added more texture than just having slices. The gravy was rich and flavourful, although I can’t say I could detect any of its Guinness base. The salad was pretty basic — comprised of mixed greens, pumpkin seeds, and a light balsamic and oil dressing. The greens were fresh though, and it was all a nice balance to the hearty boxty. D’Arcy’s has some solid food and is a nice reprieve from the masses of the rest of the airport. Just save your data-heavy surfing for the Porter lounge.

Location location location! Very close to the parliament hall. After watching the light and sound show, we came there to grab one drink. Waiter waiter waiter! Can you image a super handsome waiter guiding you to the bar with 100% powerful smile? Oh my lady gags. Just because of the good looking waiter, I would say you should come here to have a look. Not mention the great selection of beer and dreaming can’t cocktail. The price was very reasonable

If there’s one thing we should all learn in our 20s, it’s to never get anything other than sammys and burgers OR straight bar food. This place proves it all. The wings(with sauce on the side) were the highlight of the dinner, all considering that I ordered a steak frites. It was overcooked, whadduya know. The drinks were weak, but I definitely recommend their decadent summer special drinks. Those were worth the calories, I say! Our waitress was nice and recommended some places to go in the nighttime. I’d come back again for the bar food(wings!!) and drinks + outdoor seating. It was a beautiful sight to sit across from the parliament and the park across from it.

Skip it. Last night, my family and I visited D’arcy McGee’s for some dinner after a long day of randomly roaming downtown. I had wings to start. The Tandoori sauce, while delicious, was a bit ruined by the fact that the centre of the larger wings were ice cold. My daughter ordered the mac & cheese. She wouldn’t eat it, claiming, «I don’t like it». When my daughter won’t eat your mac & cheese, it’s gotta be really bad. I gave it a try to make sure she wasn’t just being a temperamental toddler. It was pretty awful. No flavour to speak of, and the pasta was overdone. They were nice and removed it from our bill though. My wife ordered the fish & chips. Her fish was good, and the fries were good. She said the cole slaw was pretty awful, though. I ordered a burger with a salad. Both were fine. My son had the chips and dips and said they were both good. The service was nice, no issues there. It’s the kind of place I’d have given 2.5 stars if that were an option: it may have just been an off night, and it was otherwise perfectly acceptable, but not acceptable enough to warrant 3 stars.

I came here for the first time for a late lunch after a long day with three other friends. The atmosphere was nice and I really liked that they had outdoor seating. As soon as we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated and was attended by a waiter who took our drinks order. After placing our orders, the food didn’t take too long to arrive and I liked that the waiter actually took the time to check on us and offering refills for our drinks. I ordered«The Club» sandwich, which is basically a turkey sandwich on re. It comes with a side of fries or Caesar salad, which was what I had. In addition to the meal, I asked the waiter for an appetizer(the Shepherd’s pie mini yorkies) for our table to share while the food was being prepared. He told me that the food we were ordering was a pretty large portion and that we should probably reconsider. I’m glad that we did, because when the food came out, it was absolutely very large. The sandwiches were doubled stacked and filled with meat(which was very impressive). Overall, I enjoyed the food and the service. It’s a bit on the pricey end but totally worth the try. They have great selection of food, it’s not just a sandwich restaurant.

We have not eaten there, so I can only rate the pub for its beers and ambiance. First, ambiance is cozy and you may find you don’t have enough room. This is quickly resolved when your beer arrives and tastes cold and fresh, just like you would expect to. They have those huge pints of half a liter; to be honest, it was the perfect spot to stop after visiting the parliament since both locations are close by. Service was okay, but we didn’t care as we were there for the beers! FYI, it may also get crowded around 5pm on weekends(they had a lineup when we were there!).

My friend and I visited here for the first time on New Year’s Eve. Our original intention was to grab a bite to eat, enjoy a few pints, and then go watch the«Leaf Drop» on Sparks Street at midnight. We decided to stay. :) First, it was one of the few places that did not charge a cover fee on New Years Eve. +1 for that! We arrived at around 9pm and we were told there’s be about a half hour wait for a table. No problem, we went to the bar to enjoy our first pint of beer. Almost immediately, we were welcomed by one of the bartenders who helped us select a beer(Honker’s Ale!) About 15 minutes later, we were seated at our table. It’s a pub. It’s an old pub. It’s not very spacious so don’t expect a lot of privacy for a conversation. But we loved it! My friend said she had visited the Darcy McGee’s in Orleans and this one beat it hands down. If you like an old-time pub atmosphere and décor, this is for you. We both had the fish’n’chips, and enjoyed it. We had four or five beers each, all different. Our server was very helpful in selecting each one. All great craft beers! All things considered, the service, food, and beer were great. We will be back for sure. (P.S. The men’s washroom is downstairs)

Great location, just across and down the road from Parliament, beautiful historic building, nice pub style eatery. Ordered the Guinness Poutine, When in Canada… and it was awesome. My daughter had a grilled chicken sandwich on some sort of rustic bread — had to be one of the BEST chicken sandwiches ever. I was very excited to order the shrimp and cod curry — just looked so tasty on the menu, but when it arrived there was neither shrimp nor cod in it — the waitress blamed the busboy. and it took nearly and hour to arrive so we didn’t have time for a do-over. regular soda were delivered when diet sodas were ordered. Just a lot of not paying attention stuff turned me off. Took forever to get a check as well.

I had supper tonight at D’Arcy McGee’s. I’d spent most of my day on the train and was starving. I started with Shepherd’s Pie Mini Yorkies. I’d had them a couple months ago at their sister restaurant in Toronto, Fionn MacCool’s, and liked them. They were good but they weren’t hot … they were barely warm. I also ordered Ma’s Crispy Chicken(without the slaw). It too was barely warm but the creamed corn was hot. I found the chicken and potatoes really salty. Plus for the cost($ 15), the two chicken pieces were small. One was a breast and other was … maybe a thigh? It was a weird chewy piece of meat. I wouldn’t order this again. Dale was my server and he took good care of me.

Tried their Guunness Poutine which was very good. My niece really enjoyed their varied kids menu; actually had substance to it. Unfortunately, the service was exceptionally slow which resulted in the poorer rating.

I really dislike this place. The food is bland as f-bomb and service is just equally slow. Last time I was there, I ordered a boxty and I got a shepherd’s pie instead. The time before that, I had a lamb burger that tasted nothing like lamb and was dry as f-bomb. It’s just consistently bad. Maybe it’s good for drinks, but I like to munch on stuff with my drink. Just do yourself a favor and don’t go there. This city has 4 millions other pubs anyway.

Nice pub in downtown Ottawa for drinks. Real pub feel. Had a downstairs section. A few tv screens. Had the lamb pot pie and it was essentially a $ 14 piece of crust. Had to look for the lamb. Small portion and not filling. Left hungry and went and bought a chocolate bar. The apple rhubarb crisp was good but undercooked. Best for drinks thinks!

Came here for the beer! Didn’t get to try any food. But they had plenty of beer choices and the bartender was very nice. They had a cover band playing while I was there… it was loud, but they played good songs.

I hadn’t been to Darcy’s in a while but ended up there last night for some food after having seen a movie at World Exchange and it is still as average as I remember it. I guess I am just a bit bored with these stereotypical«Irish» pubs because to me they are all the same and a good pub has to be unique in my mind, otherwise why would I choose there over any other place? Tom’s pub philosophies aside Darcy’s is not bad. The beer selection is pretty good(although I was disappointed to see that they didn’t have any local microbrews on tap like they used to) and the food is not bad. I had a Haddock and Shrimp curry pot that was pretty good but not over the top amazing but the rice was a bit cold. My friend wasn’t eating but she had a pint of Cider that was pretty good and the German beer I had(forgot the name) was average but not amazing. In terms of the service our waitress was very friendly but when I tried to ask her some fairly basic(in my mind) questions about the beer she was clueless. She was also a bit«in your face» when talking to us, which was a bit unnerving. Overall the only reason I went to Darcy’s was geography. I couldn’t see myself going out of the way to go there, which is sad because the location is excellent.
