Pretty solid for a pub. Great service and I love the second floor patio experience. Spicy curry, shep pie, fish & chips and nachos were pretty good, though the servings for the first two could have been bigger for the price. Love the Brown Van local brew. Good desserts and a well-executed chocolate martini. I’d certainly come back. Great summer hangout.

Great entrees and super survice. Poutine has sweet sauce which is not my thing but the wines are INCREDIBLY affordable.

This restaurant is located in the Byward Market and has a nice vibe to it. Came here on a Thursday evening for dinner and sat right down outside. Wait staff seemed over taxed and were slow. Easily sat at my table for almost 10 mins before anyone said anything to me and I was right next to the wait staff work station. Beer was cold and food was just ok. With all of the other restaurants in the area might pass on this one next time around.

Well I arrived here because a friend mentioned the nachos. Asked for a seat outside since it was nice and there was no problem seating me. This is where the problems started. After being ignored for 10 minutes I was finally asked by the Hostess if I would like something to drink. I ordered a beer and waited for another 10 minutes to get it. At this time I was ready to order some food but never got the chance as A waitress just dropped my beer off and left. 5 minutes later I was asked by another waitress if I was ready for some food. I decided to order the ½ order of nachos with spicy beef and the problems just kept piling up. Now I’m not the smartest person in the world but if you are going to label something spicy then it shouldn’t taste like beef cooked in a skillet without any seasoning. Not even salt which is BASICDAMNCOOKING. Moving on, I asked for the salsa on the side because soggy chips suck, that was ignored. Had jalapenos, not spicy. Tomatoes, mushed and bland. Portion size was spot on and the beer was good so I’ll give this place 2 stars and try elsewhere next time.

Terrible service. Server did not write our order down. Was very fast to rush to the computer to punch in our order — so rushed that while trying to order our last guests food that she didn’t ask she ran away. We flagged her down every time we needed anything– never once checked in to see if I needed refill on coffee or drinks. One water short on table so a guest had none. And lastly she brought the wrong order to our son. She then took it away and he has to wait an extra 20 – 25 mins for his cheeseburger that came out a bacon cheeseburger(we didn’t order any bacon– so just picked it off– but still!) all in all– we got our bill and my sons meal which came late and wrong twice wasn’t even so much as discounted to compensate for her major error. Will never go back.

Truly not sure how this place stays in business. 23 $ for a pitcher of Keith’s is outrageous! Got 3 pints recently, came to 25 $. They have no daily special(ie, a cheap pint or something), and truly the only reason to go here in the summer is for the view and nice flowers.

Nice location, we sat outside even though it was breezy, the patio was the place to sit to see all the market action. Sommersby on tap, and good beer selection. We had the chicken curry with rice, lamb burger, buffalo chicken wrap and turkey stew. The food was good. No complaints, service was fine. Price was average. We would come back.

In the limited time we’ve been in Ottawa, we’ve been to the Aulde Dubliner/Pour House about 5 times already. Overall, I’ve found that it’s perfectly fine but nothing really special. I’ve ordered the nachos(good, not great) and the Irish stew(good, not great). Their beer menu is pretty extensive, and I know they offer a LOT of whiskies, although I haven’t tried them myself. Definitely an easy choice for eating/drinking with friends/family/a crowd, as there’s probably something for everyone on the menu, but you’re more likely to be «satisfied» rather than completely«blown away». Unbeatable locations, with a very nice patio, right in the middle of the market. Prices are reasonable, and the service is cheerful and prompt.

Conveniently located in the market, we had drinks, lunch and brunch during our long weekend visit. Enjoyed each visit, but a have to say, the brunch was the highlight. We both had Irish breakfasts and the combo of eggs, 2 meats, beans, potatoes, and toast was prepared perfectly and enough to last well into the day. Service was friendly and we had perfect weather to sit outside and people-watch as we ate. For the previous days lunch, the burgers and Jambalaya were tasty and at reasonable cost. It was strange that the featured beers on tap that we tried in an Irish pub in Ottawa were from a Chicago brewery!

Came in here for lunch and the patio was extremely busy with no wait on the inside. The food was not really that great. I had the buffalo chicken wrap which was literally a chicken strip with some form of buffalo sauce that was sweet. Definitely not my style. The service was mediocre at best as we had to continually ask other servers as they were coming by for items. All in all, I will not be coming back here as there are too many other choices in the Market.

I should know better than to order jambalaya at a pub. Rice, shrimp and sausage mixed with canned tomato soup is a sad excuse for a dish and an even sadder excuse for jambalaya. The chocolate cake was similar to chocolate and was shaped like a cake. I should know better than to order chocolate cake at a pub. The alcohol was good, so maybe they should just stick to pouring drinks and frying things.

Bytown breakfast is so filling you can skip lunch! Have eaten here in winter, but when the place is open in the morning in the summer its a real treat! One of the best breakfasts in the market!

Everytime I have been the food has been great! The service can be average at best, but it is often very busy! Great place in the market & no too expensive :)

It’s been several years since I’ve been back in the Ottawa area and tonight I was craving fish and chips, so I decided to head back to this place to see if their«award winning» fish and chips were still worthy of that title and I must say I was still pretty impressed. Also, the Caesar salad is outstanding.

What an excellent night. Twelve of us went to the Dubliner later in the evening last night to celebrate a birthday and had an amazing time. We decided to head up the stairs to the second floor, which had plenty of room. Our server(Luke?) was excellent. He memorized our drink orders, which all came out correctly and swiftly, and was diligent about moving around to our three tables and bussing empty dishes and glasses. He even split our checks without batting an eye. The nachos were delicious and perfect to share for our table of four. I love Ottawa and have enjoyed lots of places during our time here, but this experience was a home run.

I’d give it zero stars if I could. Went in at a bit after two on a Tuesday afternoon. Sat at the bar for five minutes and was studiously ignored by the barmaid. Therefore left and went somewhere that wanted my business. This will be my last visit.

Food — Deep fried pickles were great, no complaints — Bison burger was great with the animal fries — don’t expect a lot of toppings on the fries because they only put enough for the top layer — Fish and chips… no complaints and great size Drinks — beer selection was plenty for the Irish pub — tequila section was good too Service — Got seated right away — The place was packed the entire time and the food still came out hot — The food did take a little longer to come out, but that’s because there wasn’t an empty seat in the house — Staff was very informative of their menu and always regularly came to check up on us Atmosphere — Located in the Byward market — Patio is great because you see all the street entertainment — Would try upstairs next time to get the view of the market — The staff also provided tourist recommendations which was very helpful

Service turned out to be a little poor at first, when admittedly the cook thought he had already sent out our order. The manager was advised who was above and beyond apologetic the service after the discovery of the error was exceptional. Food was great, burger was fantastic along with the Nachos. Great beer great food… Slight mixup on our order that was handled exceptionally by the Manager.

My experience here was really awful. I came here on a really beautiful Thursday night around 11 pm. It took the waitress 10 minutes to come and take our drink orders. We ordered the wings and they came out really fast, but not too warm, and kind of gooey. It tasted like they were microwaved, and made of rubber, we couldn’t even finish half of them because we felt so sick from eating them. On top of that they got our drink orders wrong. I would not recommend this place at all. I think many places in the market have this complacent attitude that just because the location is prime, the service and food can be sub-par.

Went or lunch with a friend the other day. Despite being at the peak of lunch time, we were seated immediately on the patio. Our server advised us that there would likely be at least a half hour wait for food orders due to the kitchen being really busy. We said it was fine. She wanted to warn us in case we had to be somewhere. That was nice. We ordered a couple of beers(Beau’s Lug Tread and Shock Top) and placed our food orders(club sandwich and Guinness stew). The food did in fact take a while to arrive and our server apologized when she brought it to us. By that time we needed a couple more beers. :) The atmosphere on the patio was great. The food was pretty good but nothing extraordinary. Service was great and friendly, despite the wait. Before tip, our bill was just under $ 60 for four beers and meals.
