Food was great. We had the beef brisket sandwich, baby ribs, lobster mac and cheese and chicken bruschetta. For dessert we had lava cake. It was all very tasty but took long for our order. Otherwise very good

I give this place 2.5*. Really nice patio area but the inside lacks. The look of a very dull log cabin. Has a good variety of drinks. The food is overpriced and not that great. We had the small starter Edamame beans(which was way too big of a portion for a small starter). The goat cheese, Beet and spinach salad was good but the plating needed work. We had a portabella mushroom chicken, but the chicken was dry. We also had a salmon which needed more seasoning. Lack of plate presentation and presentation of vegetables. The mashed potatoes needed more seasoning as it was bland. I had the steak with a tri mushroom sauce, and mashed potatoes(bland). I asked the steak to be medium rare but was given as a medium but well done seasoning. The mushroom sauce was surprisingly really good. Overall I probably won’t be coming to this restaurant again. The plate presentation needed much work. Seasoning needed more work(either too much or too little).

Sooooo disappointed, but a good lesson learned. I didn’t check @Yelp before we hit this place and I have lived to regret it. It was a hot, sunny afternoon in April(it was HOT) and my Hubs and I were jones’ing for lunch on a patio. Knowing Canmore quite well, I knew The Wood had the largest patio in town, so the decision was made! We only had to wait a few minutes for a patio table and when we were seated it was located in the fiery, inferno of hell. I asked our server for an umbrella and she looked at me apologetically and said«we only have two.»(Both in use for the entire patio). What??? I immediately asked to move tables and ‘lo and behold’, she showed up with a huge umbrella, just enough to cover one small corner of our table where we scrunched our water, beer and wine, leaving no elbow room for either of us while we burned.(We should have moved in hindsight.) The food was barely mediocre(I didn’t like one thing) and over priced, plus the service was slow. PLEASE, go somewhere else unless you are just looking for a patio to have a very expensive beer.

Dropped in for a quick drink. Nice looking place with friendly waitress. Really quiet when we arrived. Good sized restaurant and lounge. Big patio. Nice stop«at the end of the line» as our server called it. I would certainly go back and delve further into their menu.

Great service and incredible food! Other than my veg being slightly cold, my meal was amazing. The steak was the absolute perfect cut of meat! It might have been slightly over cooked, but it was great still. The server we had, Logan was awesome too!

Yikes! Zero stars for this place. The patio looked so great, but signs everywhere say to go inside to be seated. I stood inside the doorway for approximately 5 minutes with a group of people who also appeared to have been waiting for a long time, despite the place being fairly empty. When staff eventually approached me they told me to seat myself and she would bring me a menu. 5 minutes later in my lovely sunny seat that smelled of stinky cheese and being walked by several times by other servers but never receiving a menu I decided this was a waste of my time and walked out. Boo!

We had enjoyed beers and appetizers outside before, so thought a dinner inside would be good as well. Not so much — girl taking reservations was disinterested and slow, and while the server was personable and knew her beers, the dinner entrees were dry and tasteless(chicken club and salmon sandwich).

Two stars because of the patio, but unfortunately the slow, slow, did I mention slow, service killed the rest of the experience for us. We ordered the brisket sandwich which was good and the chicken club, which was dry. The fries were good, but not worth waiting 2 hours for.

Do not waste your time with this restaurant. The only reason it is getting one star is because of the beautiful view. Service was very slow. Food is expensive and not very good. My daughter ordered the half rack of ribs and found them to be very fatty. When we told our server about the ribs, she said she would knock 10% off the cost of the ribs, a whole $ 2.20!

Lecker — siehe Foto. Preis /Leistung ist hier gut.

Food is expensive here. It’s really good, but your wallet will cry and credit card company will cheer. Oh Roselinne, you were a really tasty dish. The problem was that you were 3 small phalluses pointing straight up on the plate. I don’t think it was worth $ 22 since it was definitely an appetizer more than a meal. Still can’t take away how tasty it was. The service, well… it was in need of an overhaul. 10 minutes to get waters and get the the actual drink order. More drinks and food order, add another 10. The weak spot is definitely in the service, but pricing needs to be looked at as well.

Amazing patio with bad food. It’s unfortunate that I don’t think I would even go back for a beer to soak up the sun. None of the staff were on the same page regarding table availability either. Average Caesar salad, meh soup, and above all if you do go here do NOT order the Asian stirfry. It’s a pack of Ichiban noodles with a gluey soy sauce dressing.

Hands down best salt and pepper chicken wings I have ever had, the honey hot wings were great as well! BUT holy mother of God you have to try the wings. Unreal… It could have been the worst service in the world, I would still give it 5 stars!

Honestly, if you are here visiting Canmore, there are much better choices then this place. The wood is extremely over priced for the sub-par food and drink they offer. They’re usually ‘out’ of the good beers– ones you’d be interested in trying, and they’re drink specials are kind of a joke — price wise. The food is crappy — from frozen– type of stuff you’d expect from a chain restaurant. Also. service is questionable… the turn over is very high, and no one here seems to care about their job. There is one redeeming quality about The Wood, the patio is awesome. Probably the best patio view in the city. So, if its a warm summer afternoon, and you don’t mind paying a little extra for your beer, by all means, give it a go. But maybe save your meals for a place that’s more worthy.

The place was packed and the poor hostess looked completely frazzled by the crowd. They were seriously understaffed considering it was a holiday Monday. Despite the poor weather we were starving and sat outside on the patio in the wind and rain. The hostess warned us food was taking about forty minutes but we stayed anyways. Mondays they have ten wings on special for 4.50 which wasn’t bad as they were large wings. Some of the sauces(honey garlic on particular) had a chemical type taste which was odd. Luckily the food took much less than their predicted forty minutes so we were happy with that. Lots of great craft beers on draught and in bottles. I was impressed with their selection. Our server did her best with our group and we were happy with the service and overall experience.

We got a table on the patio at about 5:30, on a Saturday eve. The waitress clunked the menus down and sped through the specials. We ordered, and I went to the washroom. Beer awaited me on my return, and we enjoyed the patio without food for too long – about a half an hour. The waitress told us «the kitchen is busy.» Food was good – not great. Wife had the chicken caesar, which had bacon and shredded parm, but needed lemon and croutons. Kid had chicken strips and fries, and I had the Asian stir fry with chicken, which tasted a little like the sauce was from a bottle. However, the chicken and the veggies were perfectly cooked. We noticed while eating, that despite open tables, they couldn’t get people seated. This became annoying as the unseated started standing around our table. They were also justifiably annoyed. So, if you must come here, get here early.

food was decent. Service is deplorable. there were no more than 10 tables occupied and we stood there for 10 minutes before a hostess/waitress even came within earshot. we ordered the standard burger, BBQ sandwich, kids macaroni and chicken salad and waited 30 minutes for our food. The waitress finally shows up and gives my daughter her macroni(the box says 8 mins right?) and says«sorry, the rest of the food is on the way, the kitchen is no bigger than my closet». my daughter sits there staring at her macaroni because she we taught her to never eat with her fingers(in public at least). finally we have to walk up to the waitress to ask for silverware. 50 mins into the lunch, we get our food, scarf it down and are out of there in 1 hr. if you like $ 15 hamburgers, salads and $ 10 mac-n-cheese, then go here. bring some board games(bored games?) like monopoly, scrabble or pictionary… or better yet, go to the drugstore across the street and buy some snacks while you’re waiting hilarious

Been here before for breakfast and new it was decent. We stopped in after spending the night in Canmore, kind of a quick getaway. We like that they have a kids menu since kids have small appetites(at least mine do). It wasn’t too busy when we were there so we had the place to ourselves mostly and our choice of seats. Husband was happy to see hockey on the TV(Olympics). The menu selection for breakfast was simple so I decided to try something different. The Huevos Rancheros is what I ordered and it was very tasty. Husband had the Woodman’s Breakfast and the minions enjoyed waffles. Service was good, food was good, coffee refilled without being asked. Haven’t had a meal here beyond breakfast so all I can comment on is morning food. We left full and happy campers.

Great patio, above average food, way too pricey. We’ve popped by this place a few times now because the large pretty patio keeps luring us in. Every time, we forget how pricey it is. I don’t think they have a distinction between the lunch and dinner menu — I don’t want to pay dinner prices for lunch! The last time we were there, the hostess warned us that there was a 45-minute wait for food. We decided to stay and ordered some jerk chicken wings(sauce on the side), a Wood Garden salad(with candied pecans and this great, tangy horseradish vinaigrette), a cup of the soup of the day, and a half barbequed chicken to split. The food showed up all together after about 35 minutes, so that was a bonus. The chicken wings are great — a nice crispy crunchy exterior, not overly greasy or deep fried. The salad is massive but tasty. The soup of the day was a wild cream of mushroom — nice and earthy. The barbequed chicken was kind of a disappointment — on the dry side, not hot, and the spice rub didn’t have any salt in it. Wasn’t a fan of the accompanying barbeque sauce — too sweet and smoky, but I rarely like barbeque sauces anyway. The small mound of coleslaw that came with it was great though, as were the piping hot fries. Would I come back? Probably… unless I find a better patio in Canmore to enjoy a cold beer.

The best Patio in Canmore and also the worst service in Canmore. If you have all the time in the world to wait for your drinks then wait again when they get your order wrong then this is the place for you! We ordered a chicken entrée and asked what our options were for the side. She rambles off a few options and I picked the salad with dressing on the side. Instead we got a full size salad and no chicken. We thought we would come back with our chicken later on but to no avail. I could go on and on about the bad service but this one example takes the cake. We had asked for our bill and were still waiting over 10 minutes later. She finally comes by and thanks us for coming and drops off the bill fold. We open it up and see over $ 300 in different bills. I was having drinks with 2 servers so they immediately noticed that she accidentally gave us her float! There was 30 seconds of indecision then we decided to bring it to the bar. We showed the bartender who just shook his head. He calls our server over who looks at the billfold and doesn’t even understand what just happened. We ask her for our bill again and gave her a twoonie tip because just giving back her float was tip enough. The large, sunny corner patio is the only reason this place gets 2 stars.
