If you’re searching for a place to have a nice drink and a classy meal while also enjoying the spectacular mountain view, this is the restaurant for you. My dinning partner had steak frites and I ordered seafood chowder soup, fresh bread and spinach salad. He had an imported beer and I savored wine. The amazing mountain view surrounds this restaurant. The location is upstairs in a local building along one of Canmore’s main street areas. Large, wide windows show the mountain view all around the main dinning area. We paid less than expected and received courteous, but not overbearing service from our waiter. I hate it when serving staff ‘hover’ over our table and ask a million times if the food is good. We will be back again.

Happy hour is great. Loved the sausage pizza. New Year’s Eve dinner was not so great, hence the lost star. The ambiance is one of my faves in Canmore.

Keep being disappointed with the food here, although service is decent. Had the courtyard salad. Worst salad I have had for $ 13EVER. 1 tsp of soggy Quinoa, 3 pieces of zucchini, couple slices of radish and a handful of lettuce. Brutal.

Great location overlooking the mountains. A little to spendy, but the food was really good. Pork chop in particular was excellent.

A nice location, but the structure of the restaurant with the high vaulted ceilings and no sound dampeners makes for a very loud dining experience. We had a large group so we tried a lot of food. The hummus was super tasty. The calamari was great. The lamb meatballs were on the dry side as well. My medium pork chop came out more dry than I had hoped and there was a very sad amount of sweet potato gnocci. The flavors on my entrée were very nice. The wine list was good. The desserts were good as well but I can’t recall at the moment which desserts I stole bites of. Overall, pretty standard meal that could have been executed a bit better in regards to temperature. And of course, it’s pretty touristy in the area so the prices are high.

chorizio pizza was bad. No sauce, cheese not melted, boring flavourless crust, limited toppings. One of the worst pizzas ive had in a long time. Good service.

I have had some great meals at Murrietas… in Edmonton… however tonight’s dinner in Canmore was a total disaster… too slow… tasteless meals… too loud to talk to anybody at your table… and a table that was perfect for 2 not for our party of 4… the plates barely fit on the table… I will give the waiter full marks for effort but the kitchen was a disaster … Murrietas. …Canmore…NOMORE

This was a very nice evening out! There are great views of the mountains and if you walk to the back of the restaurant you can see the three sisters. The food was very good and the service was fantastic. We had the opportunity to be shown the mountains by what I believe was the manager. Defiantly great service. Our waitress took care of us and recommend food that I had not tried before and I’m glad she mentioned it. This is worth the a stop for the food and views!

Very nice surroundings, but that is what you are paying for in the end. We just came off a hike looking for casual dining and finding none, dropped in to Murriettas. Standing there in our expensive hiking attire, you could tell that we were being judged. We were seated promptly and attended to by our waiter who was very attentive and happy to see us. We wanted burgers and such and found what we wanted on the menu. My sons and I had the only burger on the menu, my wife had the smoked brisket sandwich and my mother in law had the chicken sandwich. The burgers were ok, charred on the outside and a tad dry. My wife’s sandwich was excellent from what she said, my my mother in laws sandwich was ok. We also had beers, an IPA and a Stella. The IPA’s were served in a smallish preserves glass(not a pint) they were tasty but not worth what they were charging. In the end we spent $ 142 + tip for burgers n fries with beer. Too much money for anything on the menu, in my opinion, for what you get. It was ok but I probably won’t go back.

My family and I ducked in this beautiful bistro for lunch. The atmosphere and décor were stunning and the food was delicious. I ordered their Romaine salad and added grilled prawns which paired well with a glass of La Crema Chardonnay. My sister had their vegetarian pizza on gluten free crust while my mother ordered the fish and chips. We each tasted each other’s food and all of it was wonderful. The waitstaff were observant and helpful but not overbearing. I highly recommend this restaurant while you are in town!

We were here last night for a birthday dinner after a day of hiking outside of Canmore. Fantastic dinner. The restaurant has a classy, rustic feel — dark wood and high vaulted ceilings with wooden beams, huge windows with mountain views from every angle. Perfect for visitors to the mountains. The food was great, many locally sourced ingredients, and a handful of sustainable seafood options. I had the special — a cornish game hen done with sweet potato«risotto» and fresh chanterelle mushrooms, in from British Columbia that day. The dish was exquisite, with a rich cream sauce and meat that was finished in the wood fired oven. Also tried a bit of the roasted sablefish, with pineapple and sweet relish, also excellent. Our server, Francesca, was fantastic — quick service and she was incredibly friendly, funny and attentive, and took a few minutes to chat here and there(which I know is difficult on a busy night!) I’d definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice dinner while visiting the Rockies.

Had dinner last night at Murrieta’s. Went without reservation but host graciously seated us(4) and explained may be little slow due to couple large groups ahead of us. We were in no hurry so not an issue and actually service was very timely. Maude was our server and was quite charming and helpful. Dishes were very good, my personal favorite was the Scallop Fettuccine! Good place with great food.

We were walking behind the building and stopped to ask a man where we could eat that allowed babies, he proceeded to invite us in. We were greeted by a very pleasant hostess who showed us to our table where we were introduced to our waiter Dale. He was very friendly and chatted for a few minutes while we got situated. He made a couple suggestions while he gave us our water. It took only minutes for us to make a decision and he was there almost immediately to take our orders. I got the Sirloin steak with black truffle butter. It didn’t take long for our food to arrive, the portion sizes were good and the food was delicious. Mine was just slightly overcooked as I like my steak rare but it was still delicious and the vegetables were perfect. Throughout the meal our drinks were always full without us having to ask which was very nice and once again as soon as we were ready to go, Dale had our bill for us and our table cleared. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I would recommend anyone eat here.

After a nice day hiking in the Rockies, my friend and I were looking for a place to relax, have a bite to eat and enjoy a cold drink. According to Unilocal, this place was right around the corner and the menu looked interesting, so we headed over. The level of service here is excellent and exceeds expectations. Our server was efficient, the food arrived quickly and was delicious. I’m addicted to calamari fritti and Murrieta’s did not disappoint! I highly recommend the yummy pear martinis and the Margherita and chorizo pizzas. For dessert, we tried the apple and caramel fritters that pretty much left both of us in a full-fledged food coma. So good! We left full, happy and beyond impressed with this place! My friend was giving me props all the way back to Calgary for suggesting it. Such a great spot nestled away on the second floor with amazing views of the Rocky Mountains all around you. The ambience is classy and romantic! I can’t wait to come back to try the confit duck next time I’m in Canmore!

For fine dining in Canmore this is as good as it gets. And I must say this place is pretty good, both my parents were impressed and they have high standards. The restaurant is lovely, we ended up sitting by the window! The food was great, they have lots of great seafood available! The wine selection I thought was exquisite! Our server was friendly and our dessert was tasty. I really have nothing bad to say about this place other the it might be a little pricey. Oh and don’t split the fish, there isn’t enough for two people.

Fine dining restaurant in Canmore with million dollar views, maybe a couple million! 5 stars for the view. 5 stars for the impeccable formal service… our server was so polite! 3 stars for the food. The food is expensive for what you get but you are paying for the other two items. Presentation of food was good but not great. I had the beef riblets and substituted baby potatoes instead of chips. Seafood pasta was ok. I suggest you order a salad with your meal. The place has a nice dining atmosphere with dark wood.

Recently we took a mini day trip from Calgary to Canmore for a look-see and a bite to eat. We chose Murrietas as we knew it somewhat from Calgary, and thought that the atmosphere and predictably good food would make for a good choice. First thingis that is not wheelchair accessible and might be difficult as well for seniors or older patrons to climb the staircase in. We were greeted at the top of the stairs by a young girl, who was pleasant enough, but young, and a tad inexperienced — certainly not a big deal though. As well, we were greeted by a stylish«hipstery» bartender. We sat at the table that straddled the lounge. Nice big comfy chairs, but a smallish dining table. Our server was efficient, but somewhat cold, not alot of warmth. The restaurant itself is nice enough — big open seating, high ceilings and plenty of window side tables(we looked over the main street too). It has a rustic, mountain feel to it, and I imagine appeals alot to the tourists from afar. I ordered the roasted vegetable sandwich with fries. My friend ordered the burger and fries. First the good — the french fries were very good, definitely hand cut, seasoned well and delicious. A good french fry can be heavenly. Now the not so good. My sandwich, although visually very appealing tasted slightly burnt. The vegetables were roasted, but tasted more like char than anything else. I have made better at home. My friend ordered the burger which while apparently tasted good, was very difficult to eat. The combination of lettuce, slippery tomato and mayonnaise meant the burger kept sliding around, and he eventually resorted to using a knife and fork. The service was similar to what others have said — somewhat absent. Considering there were 3 servers on in a restaurant that wasnt very full, she seemed to vanish at times. The prices were reasonable enough, roughly 40 dollars including tip. I think next time I am in Canmore I will give a different restaurant a try. Murriettas was ok, but certainly nothing to write home about.

What the hell happened with this place? This used to be my go-to restaurant in Canmore. My husband and I arrived in Canmore for a romantic getaway and immediately headed to Murietta’s for lunch. Our server was friendly and even made time to chat with us about what to do after lunch and for dinner. I ordered the lamb spaghetti and meatballs and asked«Why is there a 13 $ and a 17 $ price next to this item?» Alex responded with«The 13 $ is our smaller size» «I’ll have the smaller size then…» This is when things went downhill faster than Clark Griswold on a metal sled. The bartender/server began to receive more tables. Like maybe 1 – 3 more tables. Apparently this was his MAX because I think his brain literally shut off at this point. Our food got dropped at 1:05 pm. My food tasted bland and unseasoned, not that there was salt and pepper on the table. 2 minute check rule? Not this guy. He had cutlery to drop elsewhere. This guy had to be a part of the ONEIDA empire or something because he was OBSESSED with cutlery. Whenever he should’ve been checking on us or clearing our plates he was behind the bar preparing cutlery for his other tables. We sat with empty plates in front of us for a long time. Too long. But that’s okay, there was a blue-shirted manager walking around making sure everything was going smoothly. Did I say«going smoothly»? I meant to say«Checking the hockey scores». The manager on the floor was very efficient at giving little grins our way, but never actually helping behind the bar to alleviate the busy floor. He walked passed us twice and never cleared our empty plates. *slow clap* just outstanding. Okay, WEGOTSTOGONOW, WHEREISOURBILL. It’s been 35 minutes since food-drop/silent treatment began. The server won’t even look our way so my husband has to get up and ask for our bill. Alex arrives and says he’ll be right back with the machine. But nope, the guy goes behind the bar and starts fiddlin’ with the god damn cutlery again. I get up and say I need to pay now and basically ask him«WTF» he says he’s sorry, though he doesn’t seem sincere and backs up this act of bad service with«Yeah…it happens sometimes» I’m sorry, «It happens sometimes»? You should make that your tagline, Murietta’s, Canmore. Come on in to MURIETTASCANMORE where you might get shafted on decent service because, you know, it HAPPENSSOMETIMES. Take a lesson from Calgary’s Murietta’s and hire experienced servers and management staff who are more concerned with the customers than the Habs/Buffalo game.

We stopped in Canmore on the gorgeous drive up to Banff, and was hoping for a good lunch to go along with the spectacular scenery — sitting up on the second floor with large windows, Murrieta’s has a wonderful view of the mountains. The service was friendly and earnest, and the food was fine. I had a lamb burger(apparently their specialty) and it was decent, though nothing memorable. Our bread plates were both clearly dirty, which kind of put a damper on the whole thing. For the quick lunch on the road, it was passable. But I have to assume there are better options in Canmore. #30DaysOfYelp(1⁄30)

3.5* Had dinner here last week and it was ok. It was a weekday and they weren’t that busy. Nice inside with vaulted ceilings. I ordered the curry scallop dish. The rice was NOT good, stuck into clumps and almost like it was in the fridge overnight — bleck, but the scallops were good and so was the service.
