Neuhaus

For some odd reason, watching a Manneken Pis made me hunger for a quick snack. Where’s a Snickers chocolate bar when you need it the most? Godiva, Marys and Neuhaus as the backup options, we dove in to the most convenient shop not only to browse but as an escape from the mass tourist and possible pick pockets.
Surprising empty, we spread our territory looking at various selections of confections while in the back 3 Chinese ladies staffing the shop spoke amongst themselves in Mandarin. Maybe this shop doubles as the Chinese Embassy, as two of them go behind the scenes while another catered to us with her mother tongue.
The young lady wasn’t too helpful in terms of helping with our mix of choices but now that I think about it after the fact, it was probably more useful to ask them where they went for late night Chinese food instead as we all know it’s the standard drunk food of choice.
Reviewing the shop more so than the deliciously tasty chocolates, even as a tourist-​heavy shop I’m sure staff there should know as fact to speak the international language of English first to any incoming customers and secondly as much as they aren’t pushy but at the same time they weren’t of much assistance in a nonchalant could-​care-​less type of way.
They were more well staffed than Mary’s by ratio of 3-​to-​1 but when customer ratios are reversed 2-​to-​10, you may want to figure out what’s the root of the problem. We left 5 minutes after without a single new customer passing through the entrance. Time to bring these chocolates back and enjoy Neuhaus as it’s meant to be.

This Neuhaus’ location is quite convenient for tourists as it is located right next to Manneken Pis.
The set up here is just like any typical Neuhaus outlets with similar selections.
What really awkward was that the staff here were all Chinese and who insisted on speaking Mandarin to me. Maybe it is my fault that I cannot speak Mandarin fluently.
Aside from that, at least the store was not busy at all. Good for just picking up something quick!
