Good venue for a team dinner. The only difficulty was making decisions from the very extensive menu. We covered a pretty varied selection and everyone enjoyed their food, which was delivered promptly. The katsu don was tasty and filling. Service was possibly a bit over the top — we weren’t really sure who was serving our table.

I was really happy to find sushi tei: I used to live in Japan and this place brought back nice memories of popular Japanese dining. I’m not talking fine dining here, purely some good and nourishing set menus that you could get at lunch time in Japan(the teishokus). And so that’s what I ordered: a teishoku with yakiniku beef, a miso soup, rice and some fruit for desert: absolutely yummy. It tasted just like it did there! 4 stars for the food, to reach 5, the place would need friendlier staff and faster service, but oh-well.

this place used to be so good but not anymore. the price has increased and the portion is so small. 4 of us spent over 130 without any wine or so but food and we weren’t full. $ 25 dollar box of rice and sashimi is as small as a takeaway chinese plastic box. the food is good but not worth it. try mizuya on George instead. similar quality but better price and bigger portion.

I always eat here when I’m in Sydney. Good food and prompt service. What more can you ask for?

Decent sushi. Good for a work lunch. Pretty fast turn around and some dishes are delicious. The iced green tea is amazing but beware because it has ice cream mixed in!

After eating out maybe 4 times a week for the past 3.5 weeks, the meal I had at Sushi Tei was the best one so far. One of the best sushi places I’ve been to, compared to my U.S. background of living in San Diego, San Francisco, & Boston. Extremely fresh, quick service, beers come in fun steins, warm sake is on par.

This place is definitely … okay. By the book, chain-style Japanese. Food is reasonable and usually arrives promptly, and my favourites(spider crab roll and pork gyoza) are reliably good. Sashimi is reasonably fresh. Very popular at lunch for its location and(again, reasonably!) good value. Not bad for a healthy(if not particularly inspiring) option in this part of the CBD.

Very impressed with Sushi Tei. I was a walk in customer and the service I received was a standout… Not knowing the menu, I asked my waiter what the best dish was? he smiled at me, commenting«its all good» and he was right. There food was fresh and tasty, the price point was very reasonable and there service was welcoming. Yay for Sushi Tei.

I never used to like Japanese food — I never even really thought to try it. But once I did I was hooked and now I search for Japanese restaurants wherever I go. I was introduced to this restaurant by my sister who is the fussiest eater I know — so if she liked it it’s got to be good! We were there at 6pm and so many people were coming in from work to have some dinner. The sushi train wasn’t operational when we were there, not sure why that was. But there are plenty of seats well spaced apart so you can converse a little more privately than some other places. Extensive doesn’t even begin to describe the menu here. It is HUGE! When you sit down you’re given this hug folder full of endless sushi options as well as noodle dishes. And they are all so reasonably priced! We went with the point and shoot method — we got so many dishes for our little group of three. They staggered our order so nothing got cold and we were able to finish some dishes before the others came. The potato croquette was particularly good as well as there rather interesting mushroom wrapped in beef dish. The food is so fresh! The drinks were extensive, both alcholic and non alcholic and very reasonably priced. And they had some really interesting deserts on the menu! The service was attentive and speedy and staff were only too happy to help us choose out dishes based on what we liked. I’m not often in the city nowadays, but this restaurant warrants its own trip in!

Mediocre sushi cut way too thick. Service was slow and unresponsive. Brought me my beverage after I finished eating my sushi. Would not recommend or go back.

Stumbled across this place when looking for an ANZ branch near work. Food is excellent — fresh and tasty as sushi should be. And not badly priced either! The lunch sets provide good value for money, however you can also pick and choose a range of items off the menu. Service was excellent and fast. Had barely placed my order and my first item arrived! Quite impressive. Can get a bit noisy in the peak lunch period, but still tolerable. Would definitely eat here again in the future! Personal tip — try the Matcha Milk Tea!

I’m not often in this part of town but when I am Sushi Tei is top of the list of restaurants to visit. The menu is extensive with all the usual suspects but also a wide range of sushi and sashimi, and some unexpected twists such as the Japanese pasta. Most importantly, all the ingredients are fresh and the flavours and textures are balanced and subtle. On my last visit we had sushi, sashimi, karage, teriyaki steak, and tempura and each was absolutely spot on. The tempura, in particular, was a delight with a light and crisp batter coating succulent morsels.

Pretty yummy considering all plates are 3 bucks. Rice was good, ingredients tasted fresh, service was great. No booze :(

Gotta love a Japanese restaurant menu that goes on and on and on and on and on… in fact, the first time I came here it took awhile to make a decision what to eat because there is soooo much choice… Some of their food categories include Japanese Pasta, House Specialty Salad, Sashimi Moriawase, Sashimi, Sushi Moriawas, Nigiri SushiGunkan Sushi, Makimono, Temaki, Yakimono, Agemono, Tempura, Nabemono, Wanmono, Menru and Donburi — see no shortage!!! Will you get amazing sushi… no…but will you get really good food — yes! I really do like this place and i find the ambience and food to be great… Here are my recommendations from the super BIG menu… the Sanshoku Salmon($ 6) Yasai Tempura/veggie Tempura($ 10) Salmon Ikura sushi($ 4) and Salmon Mentaiyaki($ 14)… Since there is so much to choose on the menu, what I think you should do is go there with a friend and share a whole bunch of dishes, as its a great place to get some great Japanese variety.

When this restaurant opened many years ago, there weren’t many sushi restaurants in the upper CBD so it was an instant success. I used to love this restaurant and it was a convenient after work option. However over the years the appeal of this restaurant has gone down exponentially, due to the success of Azuma and Masuya chains. The quality of the food has wavered a bit too, but its still a good cheaper Japanese option near Chifley Square.
