Such a relaxing environments, with a breezy outdoor seating area, the all day breakfast, and friendly efficient staff.

Perfect coffee every time. I like a place that is reliable with their coffee, no gamble. Food price — I think the takeaways were a bit high but the sit down breakfasts seem pretty reasonable. So far have loved and raved about it. Have had their bacon bagel takeaway and their eggs benny sit in. Both amazing! Cute little place, may want to book as can get quite busy sometimes.

Good coffee. Fresh juices. Delicious food. Daily newspapers. The right ingredients for a little café to have loyal customers. It’s the sort of café you can go to on your own and spend a few hours working, reading, or just being. For me, I love that there’s a water bowl from my dog out the front. Highly recommend the zucchini fritters — delicious. Unfortunately, it’s not open for dinner.

This was my second time to leaf and bean. The first was for lunch which was a healthy spinach and ricotta pie with salad. This was a great first impression of leaf and bean so we came back for breakky. Today I had breakky and went the potato rosti with salmon. I was not impressed with my rosti and the potato was not cooked through and there was no crunch, kind of important with a rosti. The coffee was amazing and the service was fast, even though it was pack to the rafters. I will come back and try something else next time. Everything is quite healthy and is refreshing option for breakky or lunch.

A regular catch up place for me and my friends. Always have a great coffee and great service. I love breakfast and hear at leaf and bean I can get it all day. They have a great range to suit your needs. From your staples(bacon and eggs) to some really nice fritter stacks and yogurt and musli with a to die for berry sauce. Always have timely service with lovely food. Only downfall is that some things are on the higher price end compared to other places.

Toby’s Estate coffee was pretty good here this morning. The service was friendly and the counter and fridges stocked high with delicious looking food and treats. I only went in for a coffee as the crew at my usual place nearby are having a well-deserved holiday. Even so, this little establishment seemed popular, spacious and worth another look in for food, next time around.

Nice, not too busy café for your standard lunch fare. Not somewhere I’d necessarily go out if my way for but if you’re in mt hawthorn looking for a bite to eat or a coffee I’d definitely recommend a drop in. Beef burger is pretty tasty and they serve it with a cute jar of yummo chutney on the side.

Been here for lunch a couple times. Friendly staff, decent food selection, good brew of coffee… tick tick tick. Limited on size, probably more suited for groups of 2⁄3. Chilled out atmosphere good place to spend a couple hours reading the paper over a couple coffees. give it a go? …Yep

I didn’t try the coffee so I can’t deal any advice on that but for those who like the facts, I can tell you they brew in Toby Estate. Not a coffee drinker? All good, they offer 16 different varieties of tea. Lean & Beaf. Oops. *ahem*. I mean, Leaf & Bean also do your stock-stadard brunch bits — like paninis and pies as well as a small breakfast menu and some sweets. The food is nothing to write home about and I think this is really about stopping by for a quick cup of java joe. Let’s hope they get that bit right!

Perhaps Mt Hawthorn doesn’t have the volume of café-goers like Mt Lawley or Leederville do, to keep hosptitality staff on their toes, and that’s the main area Leaf & Bean suffer: slow service. Other than that, that treat the subjects of their namesake sacredly, with both the tea(leaf) and the coffee here brewed to perfection. The selection of sweets is pretty broad, too, though I can’t say I’ve tried the savoury side of things — was worried it’d take too long to prepare! Speed up the service and this place could really be popular.

I have been to Leaf & Bean a couple of times before and have been really unimpressed, especially with the abrupt and rude staff. I decided I would give it one more try just in case things had changed and they had lifted their game. Sadly, things have got worse since my last visit. I went in after the lunch time rush had passed. First I waited at the counter for ages before one of the three staff there decided to bother to serve me. After ordering a coffee and panini I waited well over 20 minutes. Possibly understandable if it was busy. But everyone else had been served and were eating their meals and no one else came in after me. The menu is pretty limited, just the standard café fare. The coffee is not bad. The food is average. Nothing spectacular. I won’t be back, plenty of other choices around.

As others have noted, the service here leaves a lot to be desired. But I would suggest that their lack of charm is actually one of the place’s charms. There’s a place in Chicago that has become famous for its staff’s tendency to berate the customers, and the reason it’s able to get away with it is because the food it serves is pretty good. The food at the Leaf & Bean Emporium isn’t very good, but its coffee is outstanding. I would climb over my mother to drink Toby’s Estate – probably my favourite grind in this country – and the fact that the baristas here know what to do with it gets them a tick in my book. Even if they are a pack of jerks.

I really like this place, and I try hard to defend it to others who aren’t as happy with it as I am. I defend it so staunchly purely for one reason, its AMAZING coffee. Coffee so amazing, that even this coffee snob is speechless after every cup. Best coffee in Perth after Mooba in Wembley. But, the service is pretty poor. Actually, very poor. I went today and they charged me $ 5 for a sparkling water after they couldn’t figure out how much it actually costs. I could have, and maybe should have, caused a bit of a scene but the coffee is THAT good. I hope I find a coffee that good somewhere else so that I can stop frequenting this place…

To those amongst us who need a cup of inspiration in the morning to get going, Leaf and Bean has the brew for you. Situated in the trendy suburb of Mt Hawthorn, Leaf and Bean is a comfortable and enchanting spot with a minimal, clean fit out that provides the goodness required to be fit and ready to take on the world. The standard café fare is good but nothing to write home about.
