Hofbräu an der Alster

Den Laden gibt es schon lange, da kann man abends, vorallem am WE gut einen trinken.
Man muss natürlich auf bayrische Musik etc. stehen.
Der Mittagstisch ist ok aber nur Mittelmäßig für das Geld.
Da Essen von der normalen Karte ist eher überteuert und durchweg zu viel gesalzen.
Für einen Abend wo viel Bier fliessen soll ist das Hofbräu gut geeignet, wer allerdings eine top bayrische Küche erwartet wird hier leider enttäuscht.

Ich war hier zum Brunch und es war ganz lecker, Die Auswahl ist riesig und bietet auf jeden Fall eine große Kombination aus Frühstück und Mittagessen. Was etwas stört, wenn man dort in der Früh isst, dass schon ein betrunken wirkender und jodelnder Sänger lautstark die altbekannten Schlager zum Besten gibt. Klar ist es ein bayrisches Haus mit bayrischen Flair, aber schon am Morgen so etwas zum Essen zu hören ist doch wirklich nicht schön.
Zum bayrischen Ambiente tragen ja schon das Buffet und die Inneneinrichtung bei.
Es ist natürlich sehr weitläufig und wenn man an der anderen Ecke sitzt ist der Weg zum Buffet recht weit, ansonsten aber ein ganz nettes Essen.

War gestern abend dort essen und anschließend feiern.
Ich hatte den deftigen Schweinebraten, der sehr zart und einfach lecker war.
Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen.
Die Bedienung war schnell und sehr freundlich.

Diesmal zum Brunch am Sonntag, freundliches Personal, Livemusik (muss man mögen), klasse Buffet. Blutwurst mit Apfelmus war mir neu als bayerische Spezialität, aber warum nicht.

ich war nur einmal dort zum Mittagstisch.
Das bestellte Schnitzel aus der Mittagskarte war gut und preislich in Ordnung.
Das Bier kennt man ja. Ich mag das helle am liebsten.
Abends, wenn es dort richtig voll ist ist, war ich noch nicht dort. Kann ich mir aber gut vorstellen das mal mit einer Gruppe zu besuchen.
Nach dem 4. Bier würde mich dann auch die Bayrische Musik nicht mehr stören. Dann sind wir alle Bayern ;-)

Sehr gute bayerische Küche in passendem Ambiente. Buffet in geschlossener Gesellschaft war sehr gut. Die Karnevalisten nebenan konnte man weitgehend ignorieren. Die Bedienung ist nicht nur sehr freundlich sondern auch aufmerksam und unglaublich schnell!

Das Essen bzw. der Mittagstisch ist relativ günstig, aber man kann nicht von Qualität oder guten Geschmack reden.
Ich hatte ein Rumpsteak und anstatt Pommes mit Salat für 9,80 €.
Das Fleisch hat nach rein gar nichts geschmeckt und mich sehr enttäuscht.
Der Salat war ohne Dressing ungenießbar, leider sehr hart und bitter.
Für mich nicht wieder, vielleicht nach 4 Bier.

Sehr geile «urige» Location in direkter Nähe zur Binnenalster und dem Bahnhof Dammtor.
Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und man bekommt ein Stückchen Bayern in Hamburg mit.
Wir sind am Sonntag dort gewesen und haben am Brunch Buffet Teilgenommen.
Als ich vor 2 Jahren das letzte Mal hier war, fand ich das Buffet eher schlecht als recht.
Das Fleisch war teilweise sehr knorpelig, die Soßen hatten kaum Geschmack und die Kartoffeln im Auflauf waren sehr fest. Knackig möchte man fast sagen.
Aber diesmal hat alles gepasst. Das Essen war echt sehr lecker und sie haben das Buffet anscheinend etwas überarbeitet. Und der Kartoffelauflauf war auch sehr lecker.
Es gibt sogar live Musik aber wenn man nicht so auf Beschallung steht, dann kann man sich auch im Eingangsbereich einen netten ruhigeren Platz aussuchen. Reservieren mussten wir nicht, aber es ist auf jedenfall zum empfehlen.
Dafür und für den netten Service gerne 4 Sterne. Weiter so. ;)

Bis auf die Wartezeit die etwas kürzer hätte sein können, war der Besuch aus meiner Sicht ein Erfolg. Frisch gezapftes Bier zum leckeren Schnitzel: Top. Die Portionen sind recht groß, sodass ich sehr satt geworden bin. Klar ist es etwas laut, aber das gehört mit zu Atmosphäre und hat mich keineswegs gestört.

Überhaupt nicht mein Fall! Die Location habe ich genau drei Mal in meinem Leben aufgesucht. 2003, als noch der Club Zenit hier zu finden war, 2010 zur WM weil Freunde von mir unbedingt hier schauen wollten und vor einigen Wochen. Warum meine Freundinnen unbedingt hier einkehren wollten verstehe ich ehrlich gesagt bis heute nicht. Sonst sind eher die Cocktailbars der Stadt unser Zuhause.
Nun ja, aber wie es sich halt ergab kamen wir hierher. Eine Freundin hatte vorsichtshalber einen Tisch reserviert und das war auch gut. Als ich reinkam wusste ich aber sogleich warum ich seit Jahren nicht mehr hier gewesen bin: Laute, grölende Menschen, Frauen und Männer in Tracht (außerhalb der Oktoberfestsaison und keine Bayern?!), lauter Gesang und zu allem Überfluss auch noch eine Band. Hin und wieder hat die ja ganz lustig Schlager auf bayrisch interpretiert aber ansonsten war es eher nervig und vor allem zu laut.
Der Service war gut aber schlecht organisiert. Als unsere Kellnerin in die wohl verdiente Pause ging, musste sie vorher abkassieren. Als wir dann bei ihrem Kollegen bestellten, wollte der direkt kassieren. Das kann man wirklich besser lösen.
Insgesamt bestimmt eine tolle Location zur Oktoberfestzeit oder wenn man auf Junggesellenabschlied ist (davon waren reichlich vor Ort). Ansonsten ist das Hofbräuhaus absolut überflüssig in Hamburg und vermittelt ausländischen Touristen ein komplett verkehrtes Bild von Deutschland. Die sollten besser mal aufm Fischmarkt vorbeischauen. Ich glaube ich habe mich bis hierher klar ausgedrückt: Objektiv läuft hier nicht alles rund und ganz subjektiv bekommt mich sicherlich keiner so schnell wieder hier rein.

War ein bisschen enttäuscht von diesem Hofbräu.
Wir kahmen dort an und es schon mal ein riesen Problem dort einen Parkplatz zu bekommen.
Waren dort auf einen Sonntag, also haben wir uns gedacht versuchen wir es mal mir dem Sonntagsbrunch, welchen wir in jeden Hofbräu ausprobieren, dieser war aber wirklich kein Vergleich, im Großen und Ganzen vielleicht ¹⁄₃ von dem was es sonst wo gibt.
Was diesen Tag im Hofbräu allerdings gerettet hat, war der sensationelle Trash Dj, welcher uns vom Feinsten amüsiert hat. Einfach klasse: D
Haben nur gelacht und genau deshalb würden wir immerwieder hier her kommen :)

Sehr leckere, deftige bayrische Küche im Herzen von München.
Leider mussten wir ein zu lange warten, obwohl wenig los war. Dafür sehr netter Service und nach 50 Minuten Wartezeit dann auch gutes Essen :)

Die Bayerische Stimmung eines Wirtshauses bekommst Du ganz klar nicht an die Alster transportiert, aber mit Sicherheit das Bier und das gelingt hier mit gutem Service recht ordentlich. Das Essen liegt über den wirtshaustypischen Erwartungen. Die Haxe kann überzeugen. Für ein Bier vor dem Kino eine gute Empfehlung.

Good place to go with friends if you are in Hamburg. Perhaps a little bit touristy, but it’s fun! Went there twice during my stay in the city and had frankfurters and bratwursts, along with a cold Bavarian beer.

Having been to the original location in Munich, the Hamburg location was a little disappointing. Service was very slow and staff was really much less interactive with our table. Food is not bad, there certainly weren’t any surprises, but I felt the food at the Munich location was a step above what we had in Hamburg. If you are in Germany and will not have a chance to hit up the location in Munich, its certainly a place to try if you have a few days, but I would honestly recommend another location for good local German food. This location is definitely for tourists from outside of Germany.

What to expect from a copy of world-​famous tourist trap. Being from Bavaria myself and loving Bavarian food this is one of the few places in Hamburg to get some. We went to get «schweinshaxe», a classic. (Grilled pork shank). First, instead of the typical bread dumplings, it comes with potato dumplings, ok, small issue. But the true dissappointment was the Haxe itself. It was dry and the crust (the best part) was hard as a stone. My feeling is they had put too many on the grill and just warmed up the leftover ones from yesterday, poured the fat over it and sold it as fresh. My mother in law had the pork roast, which had no crust whatsoever and was dry as well. These people are ruining the reputation of Bavarian food! its a Tourist trap. You want the real deal? Go to Munich, at least its the original trap. To be fair, I had a decent Haxe before, at the Speersort –branch of the Hofbräuhaus. But there the waitress was so unfriendly that I did not want to go again. Bad choice, obviously. I’d rather handle grumpy waitresses than bad food. I really hope for them it was just a bad day.

Dazu gab’s witzige livemusik und natürlich ein paar kaltgetränke. Ein grossartiger sonntag.

Sonntag früh: keine Lust selbst ein Frühstück auf den Tisch zu stellen, lieber in einer anderen Umgebung mit einer Menge Menschen in einer Schlange am Buffet stehen wollen, Haxen und Weißwurst statt die eigenen Aufbackbrötchen? Dann ab zum Brunch ins Hofbräuhaus an der Alster.
Zuerst war ich ein wenig erschrocken, wie riesig dieses Hofbräuhaus ist. Es gibt aber trotzdem sehr viele eigene Bereiche, die zum Beispiel durch Holzzäune oder Wände abgegrenzt werden, sodass man sich nicht wie auf dem Präsentierteller fühlt. Trotzdem passen hier eine große Anzahl an Menschen rein. Das merkt man, wenn man an das Buffet möchte. Ab und an musste man ein wenig warten. Gut fand ich, dass einige Speisen zwei Anlaufstellen hatten. Beim Nachtisch gab es zum Beispiel zwei mal das mousse au chocolat an verschiedenen Stellen.
Das Buffet ist recht groß und umfangreich. Es gibt von Müsli und Brötchen bis hin zu verschiedenen Kartoffel– und Fleischvariationen alles. Aber eben bayrisch. Für mich war das eine gute Gelegenheit mal Weißwürste zu kosten. Hätte ich mir normalerweise in einem Restaurant nie bestellt, aber hier war das inklusive. Die Karte kann man gut im Internet auf der Homepage nachlesen. Ich war äußerst zufrieden, auch wenn das eine oder andere mal nicht ganz so gut geschmeckt hat. Das kommt vor. Es waren ja noch genügend andere Sachen zum Essen da.
Der Preis für das Buffet war angemessen. Die Preise für die Getränke allerdings schlagen ganz schön hoch zu Buche.
Wir saßen zu sechst an einem langen Holztisch auf Bänken. Irgendwann tat mir mein Hintern ganz schön weh. Kissen wären nicht verkehrt. Und an unserer Bank war es auch sehr eng, da hinter und vor uns auch noch Gruppen waren. Wären wir wie angekündigt zu elft gewesen, hätten wir nicht so entspannt brunchen können. Da fand ich uns etwas unglücklich platziert. Für große Gruppen ist das Hofbräuhaus ansonsten perfekt: viel Platz und für jeden was dabei.
Auch die Kellner waren sehr freundlich. Da ich etwas zu früh war und warten musste, verwickelte mich die für uns zugewiesene Kellnerin in ein Gespräch. Bestellungen wurden rasch und nett erfüllt.
Ein Pluspunkt gibt es noch für die Familienfreundlichkeit. Es gibt eine separate Spielecke und etwas zum malen am Platz für die kleinen Gäste.

Bayrische Küche mitten in Hamburg an der Alster. Nette Bedienung, gutes Essen. Service ist sehr freundlich zu Kindern. Es gibt eine Kinderspielecke mit schönem Spielzeug. Unser 3 Jähriger Sohn wollte gar nicht nachhause :)
Nett Bier trinken und ein Schnitzel oder Händel essen das wars. Für Touristen sicherlich spannend. Dafür gibt es 3*

In one phrase: very authentic Bavarian place.
Icecold genuine Bavarian beer served in huge Steins, typical Bavarian food, waiters in Bavarian clothes (dresses/​Lederhosn), and, ehm, «nice» Bavarian music.
You really would not realize you are in the north of Germany if it did not read «Hamburg» on the Menu…
If you like Bavarian culture, you definitely will like this venue!

It seems as if most major cities have a Hofbrahaus, and it’s not a bad choice in my opinion since the food and beer are at least decent. I’m not German, so I can’t speak for the authenticity of the cuisine. I can, however, speak for my satisfaction.
The English menu is pared down compared to the German menu, so look back and forth between the two to get a full understanding of the selection — especially the beers.
I ordered the pork shank. The skin was charred to a semi-​darken crisp that enveloped the layers of succulent meat and gelatinous fat inside. Its entirety was sitting upon savory but slightly sour gravy. Served alongside were pickled root vegetables and a warm potato dumpling. While the food was appetizing, it was difficult to cut the pork without having the flakey skins fly everywhere. Fortunately I was wearing my throw-​away clothes, so I didn’t mind spilling gravy and pulling oily flakes of pork skin off my shirt. Note that the portions are HUGE! I could only finish half my plate. If dining with friends, I would suggest splitting the dishes.
Because I came in during the afternoon on a day that was between Christmas and New Years, it was relatively empty. I am sure this place gets packed and rowdy during football matches since they have large television screens broadcasting games. The interior consists primarily of large picnic bench seating — ideal for groups of 6 or more. There are some two-​person table sets, but I wouldn’t go here to have an intimidate date or conversation.
Overall, I would recommend this place if you would like good food and beer over a casual conversation with a group of friends (think «happy hour» and work event type of space)

Über uns: wir sind eine Gruppe von ca. 30 — 50 Personen die jeden Monat ein anderes Restaurant testen. Hierfür besuchen wir meist Restaurants mit all you can eat oder Buffet-​Angeboten.
Wir waren nun schon mehrfach zum Brunch hier. Es ist OK, Touri-​Anlaufpunkt halt aber dennoch für den Preis durchaus einen Besuch wert.
Achtung: man sollte wissen, dass der Geräuschpegel hoch und die Stimmung ausgelassen ist, also nichts für einen romantischen Sonntagsbruch: o)

The one time I have been here, I ordered the chicken schnitzel with Spätzle and it was very delicious! I had one of their alsterwassers but this time decided to try out the dark version of it and it was even more yummy than the regular one. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Do you want to experience bavaria in north germany? Come here then! It has litter beers and german food. I went on a friday night and it as really loud with live music. The staff is dressed up with bavarian attire so its a nice touristy attraction. The staff wasnt too friendly but they did give us english menus to help us out. Good place for beers.

Great beer, lively restaurant, and, at least to an American, great tasting German food at a reasonable price. Would definitely visit again.

Die Leinwand zur Champions League stand, das Bier schmeckt, das Hofbräuhaus in Hamburg macht Spaß und war recht gemütlich. Unsere Bedienung sehr freundlich und immer für nen Scherz zu haben.
Aber ich kann mich den Vorrednern nur Anschließen… Das Essen ist nicht der Knaller und bringt das Ganze auf ein durchschnittliche Wertung. Das Kalbsschnitzel war recht zäh und bestand aus mehr Sehnen als Fleisch… :-/​Die Kartoffelsuppe war «ok», aber lauwarm. Der Kartoffelsalat samt Leberkäs… nunja, ich hab schon besser gegessen.
Zum Fussball + Bier gern. Das Essen werd ich woanders lieber zu mir nehmen. ;)

Had a quick diner here with some colleagues during a work visit to Hamburg.
It was on a Saturday and very early (before 19:00) so not at all busy though several table had already been reserved.
I had the veal Wiener schnitzel. As schnitzels go a Wiener Veal is my absolute favourite. I didn’t like the one the served me that evening. It was way to thin and very dry. For all I know it could have been last night’s left over, that’s how bad it tasted.
Also didn’t like the fact that they charge extra for the Preiselbeeren.
If ever I would visit this place again I would not have the Wiener Veal Schnitzel again!

This place is odd to visit as an Englishman. It reminds you that there are many brands of ‘Germany’ in Germany

A race to get get full to the gills with masses or beer, German food then loudly sing well known German songs.
When I was there, I joined two of the waiting staff as we watched a little mouse scuttle between two tables and the bar to run behind one of the service tables. They looked at each other and went about their business.
So not a place to impress anyone, but as the Hofbrauhaus in Hamburg it does what it says on the tin. I’d come again to watch Football or for a stag do, but that’s about it.

I have been here more times then I can remember but recently came to partake in a going away celebration for a co-​worker. The food is typical Southern German style and the portions are huge. There is only one thing that is larger than their schnitzel and that is there beer! After all, that is why you go to Hofbräuhaus. It is a huge location with plenty of seats, folk music, and good times. However, if you plan on going you should call ahead and make a reservation. While there you will not only enjoy the beer and food you will be immersed in the Bavarian German culture. Women in their checkered dresses, men in their Lederhosen, and big, burly men chugging pints of beer. You will not be let down!

A Bavarian brewery in the center of Hamburg? This is Hofbräuhaus. Nice atmosphere, you feel like on Oktoberfest, and the beer is served in mass. Ask for small beer if you want to have 0.5 liter.
The food is great, plenty of meat dishes to choose from and lot of deserts. Although the best desert is another beer.
For football fans there is a huge screen where you can watch games during the evenings.
The personell is kind and most of them speak English. Make sure you reserve a table if you go on a weekend evening.

We were there on a pretty quiet evening, but I hear that is is pretty insane during Oktoberfest. The food was traditional southern German and pretty tasty, I had the smoked pork chop and kale, both were excellent, the pork chop wasn’t what I consider pork chop, it was more like a pork loin steak, but great flavor.

A big Bavarian style bar with litre masses of beer, staff in Bavarian costume. the food is quite good and the place is fun with a group of people. The staff could be more friendly.

A bit of Bayern in Hamburg and I love it! Often very busy but you can book a table even if you’re just drinking and you can also stuff your face with some awesome German food (also some weird German food but nobody’s making you order that). Not too pricey and also they sometimes have GERMAN MUSIC! The BEST kind. Apart from R&B, OBV. Look out for the bayerische Karte, it’s impossible to read.

To be totally honest i don’t come here to eat.
I come for the beer!

Lovely ‘Oktoberfest themed’ pub.
I’ve been there only by night. on the week ends its always packed. The waiters and waitresses are dressed in a typical bavarian costums.
There’s also live music, typical german folkoric music, that i as a non-​german dont know, but still dance to!
It’s a great place, especially if you’re out of town or you have visitors.

I ate here a few nights ago (on a Saturday) we were lucky to be able to reserve a table — booking is highly recommended.
We visited for the traditional Bavarian experience, we weren’t disappointed. Drinking litre beers from steins and feeding on schnitzels (huge) the evening ended watching the traditional Bavarian band and sinking a few shots of Jagermeister. Great way of experiencing the Munich beer houses in Hamburg.

I ordered chicken with potatoes. They prepare the food very fast. I don’t think it was longer than 5 minutes. Chicken was baked with pineapples, there was also a decent portion of salad on the plate. And it costs only 5 EUR, which is pretty great for Hamburg.

Ah, it’s just like being back in Munich! I love Munich, unlike most northern-​germans, and the only thing this place is missing is a giant BMW factory. Authentically dressed waitresses serving up cheap grub and beer on benches. The size of your schnitzel is inversely proportional to the amount of sauce you get, hence Wiener Art — massive, and Jäger, moderately sized.
I really like it here.

Had a moderately-​sized schnitzel here for lunch today. It really hit the spot without being amazing. I ordered a Jägerschnitzel (comes with Mushrooms), but those who ordered just a plain schnitzel got monstrously big ones!
The service was unintrusive and reasonably prompt. The prices are great. Schnitzel and fries for 5eu :)

Further to the above review, I’ve since been back twice. The first time was much the same, but the second time they were incredibly inattentive and slow. It took them literally 15 minutes to notice that our group of 15 had walked through the door.
They then took forever to bring a few of the meals, and my schnitzel had a large fraction of inedible gristle in it. I’d still go again, but they’re losing a star off the rating.
