Café Paris

Ich war mit einer Freundin Nachmittags zum Kaffee und Kuchen im Café de Paris. Was soll ich sagen — eine kleine Flucht nach Paris Mitten in Hamburg. Die Macarons so frisch — zum dahinschmelzen; die Tarte au Citron — hhhmmmm :) Der Café au Lait stilecht serviert in einer Schale. Der Service? Nett, aber mit der gewissen pariser Attitüde ;)
Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Service: ich war etwa 4x hier, immer mittags Bis später Nachmittag, teilweise war es sehr voll. Der Service war dennoch immer zügig, kompetent und freundlich. Die Leute werden von ihrem Arbeitgeber auf Weinreisen mitgenommen und kennen sich mit Getränken und auch den Speisen entsprechend gut aus. Zubereitung von Tartar am Tisch hat mir ein super Rezept eingebracht…
Heute hatte ich den plat du jour für 11,50 €. Fantastisch.
Auch Tartar, Flammkuchen, und alles was ich davor probiert hatte waren immer köstlich. Nicht immer günstig, aber den Preis immer wert.
Natürlich gibt es auch Champagner und Austern, allerdings hatte ich bislang noch nicht das Vergnügen.
Einzig die Akkustik im großen Raum ist ggf etwas anstrengend. Aber zb zum Frühstück oben zu sitzen und auf das Rathaus gucken… Schön und gemütlich.
Ein Schmankerl für die Seele, hier einzukehren.

Wem das Balthazar in New York gefällt, der findet hier im CAFÉ PARIS in Hamburg ein wunderschönes Pendant. Tolles Ambiente, netter Service und ein sagenhaftes Frühstück.

Viel hatte ich schon über das Café Paris gehört und mir schon so oft gedacht, dass ich da unbedingt vorbei schauen muss. Tja, da daraus leider immer noch nichts geworden ist, kam das Café kurzerhand zu mir. Naja, ins Büro halt. Dorthin haben wir uns das Frühstück liefern lassen und es war so gut, dass wir es direkt ein zweites Mal gemacht haben. Lachs, frischer Aufschnitt, Obst, Birchermüsli, Marmelade, gekochte Eier, French Toast, Krabben — hier bleiben keine Frühstückswünsche unerfüllt. Beim ersten Mal haben sie zwar erst mal die Brötchen vergessen, aber weil’s so lecker ist, sei ihnen verziehen. Mein Favorit ist die Himbeermarmelade — da möchte man am liebsten 8 Croissants mit verdrücken. Sehr lecker, immer wieder gerne.

Wir haben jetzt schon 2x das Frühstück von Café Paris ins Büro bestellt (das machen die einfach über den Kurier Funkpiloten) und mjam mjam, es war beides Mal echt lecker und toll angerichtet. Das 1. Mal haben sie einiges vergessen, was denen bestimmt auch richtig peinlich war (z.B. die Brötchen und die Butter…), aber das 2. Mal lief es wie am Schnürchen (da hatte wohl die Chefin ihr wachsames Adlerauge drüber geworfen). Wenn man mal seine Kalorien nicht zählt, ist das Birchermüsli der Hammer, dazu ein Croissant mit Marmelade, Lachs auf einem Vollkornbrot, ein Ei, ach, ein French Toast passt auch noch rein und warum nicht auch ein Stück Kuchen oder Macaroons, wenn das Mittagstief naht… wenn man seinen Mitarbeitern also mal was Gutes gönnen möchte, greift zum Telefon– es lohnt sich.

nach wie vor bin ich absolut begeistert. Wir wollten einen schönen Abend im Paris verbringen und hatten einen Tisch in der Bel Etage reserviert. Bei der Reservierung hatte ich nebenbei erwähnt, dass es sich um unseren Hochzeitstag handelt. Angekommen, wurden wir auf das freundlichste begrüßt und uns wurde gratuliert. Der Servicemitarbeiter brachte uns dann in die Bel Etage zu unserem Tisch. Zur Begrüßung erhielten wir ein Glas Champagner und weitere Gratulationen der Mitarbeiter. Vorweg bestellten wir die Hummercremesuppe, hmmm, lecker.
Als Zwischengang gab es einmal Jakobsmuscheln und einmal Tigerforellenfilet. Es schmeckte sensationell. Der Hauptgang bestand aus Rinderfilet mit Trüffel auf Püree und im ganzen gebratene Seezunge mit Gurkensalat und Dillkartoffeln. Beides war auf den Punkt. Mega, Wir hatten dann auch noch Mineralwasser und einen sehr süffigen Weißwein aus der Gascogne. Im Anschluss genehmigten wir uns noch jeder einen Espresso. Irgendwie waren wir völlig gesättigt aber etwas Süßes sollte es noch sein. Eine Kugel Erdbeersorbet auf Champagner war dann der krönende Abschluss. Wir waren total begeistert und haben so einen schönen Abend dort verlebt, besser geht nicht. Unser Hochzeitstag wird uns so lange in unserem Gedächtnis bleiben. Ich freue mich schon auf das nächste Mal in unserem Lieblingsrestaurant.***********Ich werde demnächst noch Fotos einstellen wenn ich weiß wie es geht.

Warten lohnt sich! Wir hatten nicht reserviert, trotzdem bekamen wir schnell einen Tisch. Der Kellner sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.
Absolut zu empfehlen ist das marokkanische Frühstück und die heiße Schokolade!
Obwohl es sehr voll war konnte man sich sehr gut unterhalten.

Wir waren heute mit einer Gruppe von 7 Personen zum Frühstück dort. Wir wurden oben im 1. Stock im BEL ETAGE (= hübsche Etage) platziert. Auch wenn ich schon häufiger im Café Paris zu Gast war mir nicht bewusst, dass es noch einen großen Gastraum im 1. Stock gibt. Erinnert das Erdgeschoss doch optisch, wie auch von der Geräuschkulisse her eher an eine Bahnhofshalle, so ist es oben sehr kuschelig, und von den Farben her sehr warm und angenehm gestaltet. Obwohl es sehr gut besucht war, empfand ich es nicht als laut. Der Raum ist für Gruppen bis 10 Personen geeignet, und es gibt dort auch eine kleine Bar.
Es werden verschiedene Frühstücke angeboten. Das große Frühstück beinhaltet sogar ein Glas Sekt, sowie ein Glas O-​Saft und ein Heißgetränk — Kostenpunkt hier € 31 für 2 Personen. Ich hatte das französische Frühstück mit 1 Croissant, 1 Stück Baguette, Rhabarber– und Erdbeermarmelade, Nutella, frischen Ananas, Melone, Weintrauben und einem Stück frischer Feige. Kostenpunkt hierfür, inkl. Heißgetränk, € 7,80. Rührei extra kostet € 4,10, aber die Portion ist auch sehr üppig. Super fluffig fand ich auch das Croissant — extrem lecker!
Der Service war nett und aufmerksam. Ich komme gern wieder her.

I ordered the breakfast for two for 31 € with my boyfriend.
First of all, the so called champagne was cheap and not worth drinking. I only took a sip, but it was more than enough.
The food wasn’t that good either. It looked better than it tasted. It included about three slices of different cheeses, some ham, jam, Nutella, one egg for each and some smoked salmon. The salmon looked fatty and none of us even bothered with trying it. Everything else tasted okay, but I’m sure we could have eaten the same thing anywhere else.
The orange juice was ok, and the coffee wasn’t worse than the typical German coffee.
Tip: look at the menu before you order any drinks, because many menus included drinks, something you should be aware of before they come and take your drink order.

Waren zum Frühstück da. In der Woche:
— Reservierung ist nötig, da es auch in der Woche ziemlich voll ist.
— Im Saal sind auch Hunde erlaubt.
— Es ist allerdings alles recht eng dort.
— Trotzdem eine hübsche Location.
— Das Frühstück allerdings war nicht außergewöhnlich. Gut, es ist alles da, was das Herz begehrt, aber es ist eben wie in vielen anderen Cafés auch.
— Preislich kann man nichts sagen — hatten für zwei Personen (+ Kleinkind) für ein Frühstück (Kleines Frühstück), drei Beilagen und drei Getränke 32, — Euro bezahlt und sind seeeehr gut satt geworden.
— Zwei Sterne sind speziell für das Service-​Personal. Das war seeeehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Davon brauchen andere Location unbedingt auch mehr ;)

Nach dem x-​ten Besuch immer noch begeistert und es treibt mich vor allem in der kühleren Jahreszeit dort hin. Außen kann man machen muss man aber nicht. Drinnen ist die Mischung aus Metrohaltestelle, Jugendstil und neuen Elementen super gelungen. Die Bedienungen durch gestylt, andere würden sagen Uniform. Mir gefällt das wenn es zum Ambiente passt und hier passt es.
Das größte Problem vom Café Paris ist, einen Platz zu bekommen. Alleine gibt es an der Theke aber fast immer einen Stuhl. Mich begeistert die Atmosphäre die sich immer anhört wie im Bienenstock. Trubelig, laut, es menschelt so schön. Hier scheint sich Gott und die Welt zu treffen. Der Service an der Theke ist immer unkompliziert. Beim Essen war es zwischendurch schon mal schleppend.
Die Getränke durchweg sehr gut und die Bedienungen verziehen nie negativ das Gesicht. Jede kleine Bestellung wirkt willkommen. Ich gehe gerne auf einen Espresso, einen Pastis oder ein kleine 0,15 Bier. Mich begeistern die kleinen Mengen. Auch das Essen fand ich richtig gut, ist aber schon etwas her um es näher zu beschreiben.

Mich sieht das Paris immer wieder.

Heute war ich mit einem Bekannten zum späten Frühstück im Café de Paris. Innen war es absolut voll, aber wir konnten draußen noch einen Platz finden und aufgrund des schönen Wetters auch genießen. Ich hatte einen Croque Monsieur und der Bekannte ein französisches Frühstück. Dazu gab es Latte Macchiato und Cappuccino.
Der Croque war ausgezeichnet, das Frühstück mengenmäßig ausreichend. Die Preise waren angemessen, die Bedienungen ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam.
Empfehlenswert!

Restaurant type «Brasserie Parisienne» où je vais souvent manger pendant ma pause déjeuner. Le rapport qualité-​prix est très bon si vous choisissez l’offre du jour. Comptez environ 10 € pour un plat du jour. Si vous optez pour un plat à la carte, je recommande le tartare du chef, un vrai délice! La salle principale est naturellement bruyante comme il s’agit d’une brasserie, mais il est possible de manger dans une autre salle à l’étage si vous souhaitez plus de calme. Enfin, je recommande de réserver une table pour éviter toute mauvaise surprise: la brasserie est très fréquentée!

It is a must-​do in Hamburg even for just a crêpe.
Note: if they don’t like you, they will tell you that u can stay just for one hour because the restraunt is overbooked !!

Ende April waren wir zu viert im Café Paris zum Frühstücken. Reserviert hatte ich 4 Wochen im Voraus. Leider ist es egal zu welcher Tageszeit sehr laut.
Wir hatten einen schönen großen Tisch am Ende des Raumes, sodass es von der Lautstärke noch in Ordnung war. Die Bedienung war stets ausmerksam und das Essen kam zügig.
Wir hatten das Grade Frühstück mit 2 Orangensaft und 2 Gläsern Sekt auf einer Etagere. Die Menge war mehr als aureichend und wir konnten nach belieben Brötchen tauschen oder hinzu bestellen. Ich war überrascht, dass trotz der Menge und der guten Qualität des Essens wir zu zweit nur 20 € zahlen mussten. Vor allem die Croissants waren manifiqué!
Mein Fazit: Jeder der auf eine belebte Atmosphäre und excellentem Essen steht, sollte Café Paris probieren. Aber bitte mit Reservierung im Vorwege.

Mittlerweile ist das Café Paris eine feste Station bei meinen Besuchen in Hamburg! Der Laden hat nach wie vor Charme, der Service ist gut und das Beef Tatar ist eine glatte Eins! Dazu ein Hub anständiger Fritten und ein frisches Baguette. Das ganze mit einem frisch gezapften Kronenbourg runterjagen, so lässt sich die Mittagspause überbrücken.
Im Übrigen ist das Hamburger Frühstück dringend zu empfehlen: Fisch und ein kühles Holsten vom Hahn als Start in den Tag? Ja, bitte!

Wir waren an einem Samstag morgen zum Frühstück hier. Wir hatten zum Glück reserviert, denn ea war brechend voll. Da wir 10 Minuten vor unserer Reservierung da waren, mussten wir noch etwas warten. Die Hostess war leider sehr unfreundlich und gestresst. Sie hat uns und anderen Gästen sehr patzige Antworten gegeben. Nachdem wir unseren Tisch hatten, wurde es sofort besser. Kellner sehr aufmerksam, Essen kam sehr schnell und war lecker + viel (hatten das Frühstück für 2). Es sehr laut in dem Café, das muss man schon mögen. Daher kam leider keine entspannte Stimmung auf.
Alles in allem aber super Frühstück!

I’m sorry — but I do NOT understand what all of the hype is about! My experience at Café Paris was nothing less than underwhelming!
I made a reservation which definitely helped skip the wait time but didn’t eliminate the need to sit at our table for over 10 minutes before being noticed by the wait staff. It was clear that the tables around us were feeling similarly antsy. The annoyed waitress finally graced us with her presence long enough to take down our order of an American breakfast and a Moroccan breakfast — but to be honest I am not sure what she wrote because only half of the initial food delivery included items that we had actually ordered!
When our food finally arrived, everything was extremely greasy. While the flavors of tomato and goat cheese on the Moroccan breakfast tasted great, I was left with a terrible stomach ache which I can only assume was caused by the incredibly greasy french toast underneath. My dining partner had a similar experience with the American breakfast. Definitely not the culinary masterpiece I was expecting from both the interesting menu and positive reviews!
The waiting game resumed when we tried to flag down the waitress to pay. After over 20 minutes of «almost making eye contact» with the waitress, I finally looked up the menu on Unilocal and calculated our bill, left the money on the table and ran to the door to escape this place that clearly didn’t want my business!
Honestly — I am accustom to the substandard levels of customer service in Germany and consider myself to be fairly flexible but Café Paris crossed the line in my book and I will be sure never to return! If a restaurant is going to market itself as a premier Hamburg dining establishment, it should live up to the expectations it has set for itself! There is absolutely NO excuse for delivering anything less than a quality customer experience!
To all Hamburg visitors, heed my advice! There are way too many unique and quality dining establishments across Hamburg to waste your Sunday morning at Café Paris!

Muss leider einen Stern abziehen. Seit ich hier das erste mal war, hat sich wohl ein wenig Arroganz eingeschlichen. Ich finde die Preise stehen nicht mehr ganz im Verhältnis zur Qualität der Speisen und des Service.
Wir hatten wir das Krabbenrührei und das Tartar mit Spiegelei. Die Portionen waren sehr überschaubar und das Rührei leider nicht perfekt. Der Service war halt nur ok und frischen Minztee gibt es auch nicht. Finde ich heutzutage in so einem Café sehr merkwürdig. Mein Cappucino für stolze 3,80 war sehr klein und nicht mehr richtig heiß.
Ich mag die Location immernoch aber 5 Sterne sind es definitiv nicht mehr.

Ich musste die Zeit in der City zwischen Büro und Abendtermin überbrücken und geriet so nach Jährenden mal wieder ins Café Paris. Meine letzte Erinnerung ist die einer überaus lauten Location, ob Frühstück oder Mittag. Abends war ich nie dort.
Jetzt um Fünf ist der Laut-​Pegel unbedingt erträglich, ist aber auch nicht ganz voll. Ich entscheide mich für ein Tischen im hinteren Beeich und habe hier den vollen Durch-​, Pardon: Überblick. Diese Schreibarbeit wird von einem Weißen aus der Gascogne begleitet, ziemlich sauer. Das Glas 0,1 zu 3,20, die nächste Größe ist 0,25, der Preis akkurat hochgerechnet. kein Schmutz und dann sauer! Es ist der günstigste Wein, liegt darin die Qualität? Überhaupt ist das Café Paris eher höherpreisig. Die bretonische Fischsuppe für 10 € schlägt fast doppelt so hoch zu Buche wie die im Ti Breizh und dort ist man auch vom Fach.
Frühstück beginnt im Café bei 7,80, dann aber auch nur die französische Variante. Italienisch ist erst ab über 10 zu haben. Egal — ich hadere selten mit Preisen, nachdem ich Platz genommen habe. Kann mich ja vorher schlau machen.
Ich habe meinen Zweiertisch mit meinem Vin alleine. Langsam füllt sich das Café, der Laut-​Pegel steigt deutlich und ich beobachte, dass die kleinen Tische für ein richtiges Essen kaum ausreichen. Dabei ist ausreichend Platz am Tisch für uns schon immer ein Punktekriterium. Fällt hier aus.
Punkt halb Sechs wird die Beleuchtung auf extrem schummrig gedimmt — wozu? Fällt mir aber vielleicht nur auf, weil ich schreibe.
Ach, wahrscheinlich war ich einfach zu lange nicht in Frankreich und das Ambiente ist daher sehr trubelig.
Und dennoch: Der Laden hat was!
Während um mich herum alles vollr wird, ich aber mit meinem 0,25 Schoppen einen ganzen Tisch blockiere, habe ich keinen Moment das Gefühl, zur Eile gedrängt zu werden.
Alsbald ziehen dann köstliche Düfte von üppig gefüllten Tellern vorbei und ja, dann ist es doch irgendwie sehr schön.
Ich muss aber leider gehen — mein Unilocal-​Termin wartet!
Zum Schluss: wer es unbedingt Französisch will, darf nirgends anders sitzen als im Hauptraum: gekachelt wie der Alte Elbtunnel überdacht von zwei zauberhaften Mosaik-​Kuppeln.
Der französischen Zunge mächtig zu sein, scheint übrigens ein Einstellungsmriterium zu sein.
Bön Apetit — ich komme sicher noch einmal wieder.

War schon öfter im Café Paris und auch wie viele vom hohen Geräuschpegel etwas angenervt. Ist ja auch klar, dass bei Kacheln, Holzboden und Glasflächen keine intime Kuschelatmosphäre aufkommen kann.
Wie angenehm überrascht war ich, als ich bei zweimaligem Nachbohren erfuhr, dass man ab 18 Uhr in der Beletage –1.Stock — einen Tisch reservieren kann. Das musste doch sofort ausprobiert werden! Und siehe da: fern vom Trubel genossen wir unser Essen zu dritt.
Es gab Schnecken (nicht für mich!), Gnocchi mit Zwiebelconfit, orientalisch gefüllte Calamaris mit Couscous, Steinbuttfilet und Freilandhuhn Trüffel. Danach Schokoladentarte mit Sauerrahmeis (himmlisch) und eine Crème brûlée. Die fand meine Freundin zu flüssig und ausserdem eine Feder in ihrem Freilandhuhn. Das fand sie nun wiederum nicht so witzig. Die Servicekraft (die übrigens sehr freundlich und flott war) meinte, das könne schon mal vorkommen. Na, bei den Preisen… wie auch immer, der Rest der Speisen und der Riesling dazu waren mehr als ok.
Also: Beletage!

4 stars or 5 stars? That was my only confusion. I have been to this place many times. This time I was lucky enough to get in without reservation! They have a simple menu but you always get really good French food here. If you are in Hamburg, I would highly recommend to visit.

I went for dinner after reading all the positive reviews here, and I was happy for a few reasons:
–It has a great bistro feel.
–People were well dressed and stylish.
–Good crowd with lively conversations everywhere.
–Great location just off the U train.
–They have a bar… seriously, the Unilocal photos of the bar sold me.
I quickly grabbed a seat and a pint at the bar. The bar tenders were super busy busting out drinks for the whole restaurant. It was fun to watch their activity.
I ordered a turbot fillet with sauteed vegetables and a nice truffle risotto. The risotto was very rich. This was a wonderful meal.
I think I will try breakfast soon.

For all you breakfast lovers out there, listen up! If you find yourself in Hamburg, here are two great spots for breakfast. I am slowly collecting a list of European breakfast spots and sometimes feel a bit like Guy Fieri in the television show, Diner’s Drive In’s and Dives! I’ve eaten breakfast in over 20 cities in the past two years, so the «experience» is mounting. When you find a keeper, I call it the equivalent of finding a good American diner in Europe. They have good, reliable food, good energy, often a unique décor, and a menu that includes a few local specialties (most important).
I spent three days in Hamburg and prior to my trip, read through several blog posts, newspapers and online review sites to figure out where I should have the most important meal of the day. My first and third stop was none other than Café Paris. Café Paris is located in the center of Hamburg and is housed in a space that dates back to 1882. The original slaughterhouse was later converted to a turn-​of-​the-​century French café and today is beautifully adorned with iconic French café décor features such as its dark wooden tables, Art Deco posters, banquette seating, a long bar with wooden stools, floor to ceiling subway tiles and a jaw dropping Art Nouveau ceiling.
The menu features standard French fare such as hard boiled eggs, croissants, baguettes, jam, cheese, juice, Croque Madame, and Croque Monsieur. It also includes a few breakfast twists including a «Moroccan» version of French toast topped with roasted tomatoes, goat cheese and orange marmalade, an «American» breakfast that comes with a pancake, a fried egg, peanut butter, and syrup and the local «Hamburg» which consists of a piece of toast, crab salad, herring, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs with chives and a glass of Hamburg’s local Holsten pilsner (a brewing company founded in 1879 in the city’s Altona-​Nord quarter).
On my first visit, I tried the Moroccan and on the second visit, I opted for something a bit lighter (just some muesli and a hard boiled egg with green tea). I must note, I returned twice to Café Paris (out of three breakfasts) for another bite of their croissants. The baguette was nothing to write home about but their croissant was some of the freshest, butteriest, light viennoiserie that I have tasted outside of Paris.

What a beautiful place with such ambience, that you might fall backside first, when looking up at the celing.
I visited 3 times in one weekend, just because it was so amazing. The food was soo good and the staff very friendly and polite. Both the breakfast and the dinner menu is perfectly varied and still true to the concept.
At dinnertime, it is worth mentioning the wonderful experience to be had. Order a Tatar Café Paris, and the waiter will prepare it at the table. In a plate, he brings a ball of raw meat, and small bowls of traditional tatat accessories. Not very deliscious to begin with. Then he takes out a deep plate and mix an egg yolk and mustard and start adding olive oil while whisking very fast with two forks, and VOILA!!! you have a home stired mayonaise. In this he adds some ketchup and the ball of meat. Massaging the mayonaise into the meat, then adding the onion, kapers and chopped parsley, it results in a master piece. And it tastes heavenly.
Well worth a trip to Hamburg, just for that.
I am definately comming back.

I had lunch here alone while visiting Hamburg for lunch, based on Trip Advisor reviews. (Which are generally less critical than Unilocalers)
The décor is beautiful and really charming; more like something you’d find in Brussels or Paris.
The staff is young and while friendly, not always speedy in tending to you, but, I noticed that is common practice in most of Germany when dining out.
They have an English menu, though somethings don’t translate well so I wasn’t sure what I was getting when I ordered it. It ended up being some type of fish with one large prawn on it, some weird nuts (not pine), a sauce, and a side of mashed potatoes. The prawn was tough, the fish was soggy and damp tasting (!) and the potatoes were the highlight of the meal, which doesn’t say much as they were rather bland.
I had a nice glass of rose with my meal, which was good.
The service was so slow, I had little to no patience to wait for another drink. So I just wrapped up my meal and left. Rather disappointing. If I went back I’d get something else, of course, and something more simple.
Note they only accept AMEX and Mastercard, no Visa.

I don’t know. We were there first about two years ago and things were better service, atmosphere, the crème brulle (sp? sorry). Things were just outrageously expensive, which we expected, but I think for that price, we should have gotten better. I ordered a costly tea. I expected a nice quality tea but received a basic tea from a common brand served just about everywhere. The real kicker was whene my son ate only a couple of bitea of his chocate mousse and we asked if we could take the rest to go. The waitress send no because it would break the kuhlkette and would go bad resulting in our holding the restaurant responsible for becoming ill. I can’t really recommend it.

Highly recommend this place for breakfast. Best breakfast we had whilst staying in hamburg!

Great for breakfast and lunch. but the waiter and the chef are to busy to make good food at dinner time. Price: high for the standard.

A nice old-​style European café to enjoy a light meal or some french pastries, like some yummy tortes! Great location and atmosphere, a must-​see café in Hamburg. Nice brunch as well. Would get another star if it wasn’t for the loud acoustic inside!

Café Paris is not a mere café in Hamburg, but a landmark. Everyone local who has lived in Hamburg, or even visitors who have asked around about where to eat, have without a doubt stumbled into this dining institution. The atmosphere for sure has Parisian charm to it and one might even arguably say that sometimes the service has a bit of a French «attitude» as well ;) Ok, that is not fair to compare a cheeky service experience to the negative stereotype of a snooty Parisian, but sometimes it depends on who you get at your table that day.
Often I frequent here on Sunday for Brunch because it can be hard to find places that are open on Sunday in Hamburg, especially serving somewhat of a proper brunch/​breakfast menu. They still do not quite have the typical American breakfast (country thick bacon, sausage, hash browns, etc…) nor is it even resembling a English Breakfast (bangers/​sausage, eggs, beans, etc…) Though Hamburg is not expected to carry too much of any celebration towards Americans since the North is far more British influenced and the South of Germany (Bavaria) is more American favorable due to the history, war, who helped who rebuild, etc…
So yeah, you can get breakfast but more a European style with breads, fruits, cheeses, some cold cut meats, thick pancakes with peanut butter, not syrup, and fried or boiled eggs. If you are thinking iHop or Dennys Grand Slam, well, you will find none of those shenanigans here. Be lucky they have croissants, but hey, could you really call it Café «Paris» without this national pastry???
I go for the cappuccino, Italian breakfast with cold cut meats/​cheeses, a freshly squeezed orange juice and sit outside if the weather is nice.
They serve quite a nice dinner menu as well and it changes with specials of the evening. I had a steak with peppercorn gravy and potatoes one night which was amazing! For lunch, the SteakTartare is not only popular here, but it is said they make some of the best around, served with fresh bread. The only part of this tartare that bugs me is that it is the ground beef style and I prefer when they dice the steak, otherwise it just looks like raw hamburger meat to me, ugh…
Café Paris is just next to the Rathaus (TownHall) and I believe someone told me once they own the bar across the way called Bar Leon, which is supposed to have the best cocktails, but the door is very inconspicuous, so you must be watchful for it and ring the doorbell to enter. Very low key cool sounding, right?

Pretty effin expensive but this english breakfast here. Damn it’s worth it!

J’y étais avec deux copines pour prendre le petit– déjeuner. On a choisi le petit-​dej français et c’étais très super et délicieux!!! Le café est vraiment bon et il est offert avec un petit chocolat!!!

A genuinely good experience every time I’ve been here. ok, not the cheapest of places but the food is great.

Café de Paris delivers what it says on the label. Typical French dishes (some accurate, some a little wayward), decently cooked.
On may most recent trip we were abe to sit outside and enjoy the Hamburg sunshine. My Steak Frites was well executed and lots of chips and salad.
My experience of the service has been OK, contrary to some reviews. And the building itself is lovely and conveniently located near the Rathaus

Very peaceful, very nice and unfortunately very crowded during the evening hours. But one can fully understand that as it is located on such a great place. It is in a small street to the left side of the Rathhausmarkt next to the Citi Bank :) The place itself is relatively big but also very peaceful. Very classy with a real French feeling. This is nice a place to go away from the city noise and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. They offer a variety of products but the sweets they have are simply amazing. If you plan to goo there and you are more than 10 people (as we did back in the university days) make sure you call and reserve a table. otherwise you are doomed to wait.

J’y vais pour les plateaux d’huîtres occasionnellement. OK c’est un peu bruyant mais c’est comme une brasserie parisienne. Plats du jour sur le tableau noir, choix de plats très sympa franco-​allemands.
Super pour se retrouver entre amies francophones, genre afterwork, d’ailleurs récemment on y est souvent le mardi ;-)
La petite salle pourrait également abriter un repas d’affaires mais mais mais depuis que la carte a changé, les prix aussi auraient-​ils changé? Je pose la question.

Went there for breakfast with colleagues. Didn’t order anything to eat for myself. I usually skip breakfast completely and wait till lunch. I only had vanilla tea, which was very nice.
But breakfast that the colleagues had, looked tasty.
Maybe I’ll come back sometime.

I’m really in two minds about Café de Paris. On the one hand, it’s a lovely building, serving semi-​decent steak frites. On the other, the service is pretty poor, and they’ve evidently never actually tried cassulet in France, because their version tastes nothing like.
Even though it has it’s downsides, I still come back here from time to time, probably because I miss France too much

A wonderfull place. I don’t know how, but they managed to create this atmosphere as if you are sitting in the Parisian Bistro, somewhere in 7e arrondissement. May be it’s a classic furniture or formall table settings (white tablecloth, of course). The whole Art Deco details (the entrance door, the tiles, painted domes) adds it up.
Well, we can call it quite romantic too. But I’d be also fine sitting alone.
I had liver (not a traditional bistro choice) and it was great! It was a nice surprise to see it in the menu, unlike in many other restaurants. Prices were very reasonable. Service was good.
Verdict: definetely coming back.
Darjeeling

Not only the name gives a french athmosphere– also if you sit outside, when the night is falling. The view to the impressive townhall, the little something like a place with parking cars in front of the café, all these little round tables in a line, the cheap water, the quick waiters in black and white, the good red wine and the taste of french moutarde in the salad sauce give a persuading impression of a café in Paris.
People like to eat tartare frites which is mixed on the table while one is watching with moutarde, raw egg, fresh black pepper and some sauces.
Very special place with tourists, buisiness people and others.
An enviroment which is a bit open, flirt seems possible, but you’d still feel fine sitting there alone.
Like in a real french café.
