House specialty Walleye fish and dumpling noodle with ham, cheese, and mushroom dishes were excellent.

If you’re ever in the area, this is a must visit!!! The food is fantastic and leaves you full and happy, the beer is great, and the dessert is also well done. My husband and I liked it so much we had dinner here two nights in a row! The staff was super friendly and inviting as well. Over those two days we each tried 2 separate dishes as well as mixed salad, and a dessert. We also had two types of beer as well. This place is very busy and I would recommend a reservation unless you don’t mind making conversation with a stranger which is also a fun experience.

Make a reservation as this place is usually packed but definitely don’t miss this one for an authentic dining experience. The beer on tap was unreal and just about everything on the menu was incredible.

I’ve gone to Wildschutz a couple of times now and just love this place.
First, you will not leave hungry. Second, this is a true Bavarian experience to have if you are visiting through Garmisch. Do call ahead for a reservation as they are usually packed with people. The service was great and they were super helpful with any questions.
I’ve had the zwiebelrostbraten with side salad and it was delicious. I could not finish it all — though I wanted to. I also tried a nightly special of duck and what was brought out was not just a breast, but half a duck. For one person? This is what I’m talking about here. You can’t leave hungry.
Will enjoy going back again to Wildshutz!

We showed up at 7 without a reservation. The host was able to put us at a large table with another small family that was more than accomodating. After reading the reviews we didnt want to miss the opportunity to eat here.
Wow! A fantastic meal that we won’t forget for a while. I had the sirloin and my wife had the pepper steak. Both were cooked to perfection. And I mean mouthwatering perfection. Don’t miss a chance to dine here.

There are plenty of reviews here about how great everything here is. Believe it. My wife and I were here on our honeymoon and randomly picked this place for no reason other than we saw it and we’re hungry. The feel is 100% Bavarian. We didn’t have a reservation but got lucky and shared a table with other couple. Don’t forget to end your meal with some schnapps! (Dined there in Sept 2014).

The folks there treated us great, even got our group of 5 seated with no reservations seated. I suggest making reservations if you go as the food was the best we’ve had so far in Germany. Can’t say enough about how nice the staff was and the meal was delicious.

This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb host. We rocked up without a reservation not realising how super busy it gets. Luckily the waitress managed to squeeze us on to a shared table. And so began the banquet
We had the starter salads which was delicious. It was wonderfully fresh and the dressing was amazing. For the mains we had wild game goulash and the pork steak. These came with sides of potato noodles and fried potatoes.
The goulash meat was so tender it was falling off the fork and the sauce was rich and delicious. The pork was well cooked and the accompanying onions were a perfect companion. We rapidly regretted ordering the starter salad because the portion sizes were HUGE!
We were bitterly disappointed that we could not squeeze in a dessert but it was physically impossible. Maybe next time.
This is an amazing restaurant with incredibly friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. Definitely worth a visit if your after some tasty Bavarian food. Just remember to bring your appetite with you, maybe even think of fasting for the day, before you go

Excellent food and really great service. We were so pleased with our meal. I would recommend it to anyone.
We got frittaten soup and schnitzel for the kids. The adults got a brotzeit, salad for me and schnitzel with mustard for my husband. Everyone loves the apple strudel.
Service was good too. Get there early if you don’t have reservations

OMG, so good. We spent the day hiking and then popped in on a whim for an early dinner. The staff was able to accommodate us even though the restaurant was fully booked. I had the venison, my husband had Schweinskrustenbraten.
We also had the Bärlauch soup — this was a seasonal special, and not on the English menu, by the way. Pay attention to the signs on the way in just in case, the waitress was surprised we knew about the soup. Anyway, it was fantastic. Very mellow and not at all overwhelming or tangy.
Call ahead and reserve a table if you want to make sure you can be seated, we were lucky that we got there so early — the tables were all booked starting at about 6 p.m.
Not a restaurant for vegetarians, by the way. :D

Excellent traditional German food and a great wait-​staff who made room for our large group without a reservation. Note the two entrances. The one in back is more for the staff to reach the patio, while the door in front, off the main pedestrian street, is more accessible.

A must visit place! Get a reservation! We arrive at 5:45 pm, the places was full and ended sharing a table with a nice couple. I had the Wildelgulasch, it was wonderful. My wife had the Fleischplanzer that had 3 ground beef patties with different flavors and sauces; all very good!

5 stars. Easiest rating decision I’ve ever made. Great service. I was solo and was seated at the end of the bar — which means I had this nice padded bench to myself. Best seat in the house for a solo diner.
Ordered the Obazda — tasty, but just a warmup for the Schweinbraten. Good grief it was good. Came with dumplings and what seemed like a cross between sauerkraut and cole slaw. Either way, it was the bomb.
After 2 beers and this plate of heaven, I was ready to waddle back to my hotel.
When I come back to G-​P, I’m coming here — and I’m bringing my appetite with me!

I read so many good things about Zum Wildschütz I had to check it out when I recently visited Garmisch. I made a reservation early in the day and it was a good thing I did. When we arrived at 2030 to eat the place was packed. The local flavor of the place was amazing as was the food. We were seated with a lovely couple and enjoyed a true Bavarian dining experience. Please do yourself a favor and visit. Make a reservation too. Loved it.

Delicious and dog friendly. I remember all the dogs sitting at the sides or under the table just hanging out. Thought it was so cool because it was something you rarely see.

Called to make a reservation for the following night. when we showed up, they didn’t have our name on the list and were pretty rude about it. When I called I spelled out my name for them because she couldn’t quite hear me. I wasn’t sure if she got my name right, but I figured when we got there we would explain what happened and see what reservation for 3 people at 6pm had a name that sounded similar. Nope. Just got turned around at the door! Didn’t even get to explain, the lady did not even care. We were really sad about it after all these good reviews. I guess make your reservations in person or don’t have a confusing name like «taylor».
