Did the meat platter. Sides and sauces were awesome, meat was just ok. At 250 or possibly 300 this would be an ok-good meal. At 400+ it was just ridiculous. Food quality was not even close to the price level. Wine was ok, but again over priced. Beer selection very limited. Wouldn’t recommend any of my friends to go really. But if you do, don’t go for the meat platter, do a standard main.

If you love a good steak with a good glass of wine this is the place! I came for dinner with friends and we all got perfectly cooked steaks in accordance to what we ordered. The recommended red wine was spot on with the all meaty and gravy flavors. The price does match the excellent quality of the meat but also the friendly service and elegant ambience. I recommend it for dinner with the family and /or friends.

Food was ok, music was loud and this would have been a better mid or end relationship date restaurant.

Gorgeous restaurant with down-to-earth yet very sharp staff, delicious food and a mouth-watering selection of cocktails. Definitely one of the gems of Stockholm.(Not really for vegetarians… Unless you only want to drink ;-))

A very nice locale with white tile, brass and cooky art, odd vintage chairs, white table cloth and candlelight. Svartengrens is a meat restaurant and the menu changes from day to day with the type of meat the restaurant has bought from their local, environmentally friendly and sustainable suppliers. «Local» here being in the greater Stockholm region, seeing as there are no farms in the middle of the city. Anyway, I like this concept a lot. The starter menu is small — only four dishes — two of them being scallops and oysters, the third being predominantly meat. I would have liked a wider range of starters, and having a choice outside of meat(which is what the main course would be made up of anyway). For the main course, you compose your own dish by choosing a type of meat(which will be served all by itself on an otherwise empty plate) and combining it with a side of your choice. It’s a little bit frustrating that the menu doesn’t state the weight of the steaks. I ordered a dry aged rib eye(of unknown size) with a side of jalapeño & cheddar croquettes, pickles and BBQ sauce. The fact that the waitress told me how they«usually prepare the meat medium rare» — rather than ask me(the person who was going to eat it) how I wanted it — had me worried. I said I wanted it rare. My concerns were justified: The meat came out medium rare. Pink and not red at all. Medium rare is still on the right half of the spectrum — so the meat was still tasty — but this is a matter of principle: The customer should get what the customer orders. I’m sure I would have enjoyed it more(and not have had my dinner mood spoiled by frustration over the fact that they had ignored my order of «rare») if the meat had indeed been rare. Service was good but not great — two waitresses shared a less than half full restaurant. I would have liked the waitress to come by after we had cut our meat to see if everything was in order — which, of course, had been my opportunity to tell her that it was not. So, my meat was tasty, sure. But it wasn’t half as tender as I would have expected with it being dry aged for six weeks and all. This being a meat restaurant, I had expected more. Since it was Easter, my partner ordered the«Easter Lamb» which was lamb roast, smoked lamb sausage, chilli, garlic & lemon, Hasselback potatoes, haricot verts and lamb gravy(sides included in the dish). A great example of how they adapt the menu to current stock and season! We had alcohol free drinks which were nothing more than glorified lemonade served in classy glasses — but what would you expect — they were alcohol free: Take the alcohol out of a drink and you get lemonade. We looked at the dessert menu which was impressive, but when we passed on dessert the waitress apparently found it difficult to conceal her disappointment. If they hadn’t messed up my meat they’d have received four stars. I’d come back and give them one more chance.

Perfect steak, wine, bourbon, and a drum & bass soundtrack? Bring it on! From the freshly baked bread that arrives at the start of the meal to the dessert(deconstructed tutti-frutti like salady thing that was amazing), Svartengrens is one happy indulgence after another. Special thanks to the hostess(Alex?), who on a busy Friday night was holding the dining room together with grace and warmth. Worth the trip, even from another neighborhood. Good vibe; atmospheric; delicious.

An upmarket restaurant focusing on different kinds of meat dishes. The service was excellent with friendly and efficient staff. If you asked for something it arrived quickly — every time and that’s quite appreciated actually. They served mini loaves while you were we’re waiting for your first course and I must say they were fantastic. One downside with the place is that it’s quite noisy. You can’t really relax and have a laid back conversation with your fellow diners. You need to speak up and perhaps even lean forward to get your message through. Otherwise really good!

You know the feeling when you really crave a great cocktail but are surrounded by mediocracy? Fret no more, Svartengrens are the epitome of mixology in Stockholm and you really can’t go wrong here. Drinks are served with the utmost respect for the craft and you can tell by the bartenders lust for feedback that they take their task seriously. Foodwise, Svartengrens primarily offers great meat of a wide selection but there are of course a choice to satisfy those who feel less like carnivores. In short — Svartengrens is a great choice, both for food and drink.

Svartengrens is one of the many places that have opened in Stockholm the past years when meat has once again become trendy. I do love a good steak and I was pretty excited when I went to Svartengrens(this was quite sometime ago, about 1 – 2 months after they opened). The focus is of course meat and after being seated we were left waiting and waiting and waiting — after a long wait someone finally showed up to take our orders. The place was not very full so was a bit annoyed at the slow service. I asked for recommendations and went with tenderloin. No question on how I wanted it prepared — I did however feel confident that a place that basically only does meat should be good at it. Imagine my surprise when I get my food delivered and I cut into it and it is well-done. I ask the waiter and he basically just shrugs it off and says that is the way it should be. No flavor whatsoever, totally ruined meat and not even a hint of an excuse or anything. When they cleared the table and I had barely touched my food another waiter asked if everything had been good and I gave the same answer(No, it had not been good, actually pretty awful etc.) — no excuse, just an ‘ohh’ and then nothing more. I have since heard others say that it is good but I would not go back as it seemed like not a single person that was involved in the preparation and service when we were there should ever be let into a restaurant. I have since heard people

One of the best places in Stockholm for meat dishes. My steak was excellent and the side orders very tasty and fresh. the service here is excellent and the place looks very ‘Scandinavian’. The prices are also well-proportioned to what you get. A must visit!
