1st night in town, short walk from the hotel. They found me a Saturday night table for 1 amongst the young lovers, young professionals and a table of old codgers dressed to the nines. I just watched those old dudes and dudesses put the food and drink away followed by a toast. For me it was three kinds of herring(creamed, pickled with Juniper berries and mustard). Really great. Then the fish stew with mussels, salmon, cod, shrimp and crawfish dressed at the table with a clear, tomatoey saffron/fennel broth. A delight. I kept looking at the pots of mussels and frites that were coming up but it will have to wait for another time. Finished with the crème brûlée. The staff was attentive and let me sit and people watch helping me translate the menu as necessary. It also looks like the fish market in the front is where you go when you have a kitchen to come home to.

Evening sun on the curb side tables, smart Nordic interiors and very good food. Of course you should try the fish here as its fresh and well prepared, but they also serve the best ‘Isterband’ in town when it’s on the menu.
